    It wasn't just Monisha Kaltenborn who screwed him over. In a Dutch interview, Giedo described how he walked into the garage for FP during this lawsuit, putting his overall on, and the whole team... just ignored him and did not talk to him. He completed the practice and left the track immediately.

      Oh wow, I knew that a lot of the Sauber team were unaware that he was supposed to be there instead of Nasr/Ericsson, but I had no idea it went that far. Poor Giedo...

    Remember watching him in GP2 racing David Valcechi, James Calado, Esteban Gutierez, Max Chilton and Jolyon Palmer.

      Yeah, there were some real names of yesteryear on the GP2 grid at the time. A shame he never quite quite made the most of his talent in feeder series...

      @@JebMotorsport had proper potential but it never seemed to quite come together.

    Giedo was a driver who never really got a chance to shine in F1 sadly. You can use the same argument for Charles Pic too.

    • @JebMotorsport
      @JebMotorsport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely - both had solid drives in the absolute unicycle of a Caterham. A shame both their careers ended early: Pic ran out of money and contacts, and Giedo, well...

    Good work. This is an informative video. It’s easy to talk on leading lights of motorsports. Tough to talk of the ones forgotten or sidelined. Keep up the good work may the best happen to you. You’re voice possessed clarity and backed by this sincerity in expression! Have shared your TH-cam page on twitter too. Warm wishes

      Thank you very much - I've always been interested in the F1 drivers who got 'left behind' as it were. Thank you as well for the feedback on my voice, I'm glad it worked fine :)

    I had no idea this is how Giedo was dropped by Sauber. This is so insightful. Thanks for this Jeb. Keep it up 👍

      Well, I don't think many F1 fans would remember him, or at least they'd only remember him for his legal battle - that's what makes it interesting!

    Imagine having to take your own team to court to allow you to race. Really good video bud! Did he get to keep all that money from the settlement??Not the worst F1 career if he did. Also why did this end his F1 career?

    • @JebMotorsport
      @JebMotorsport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He did keep most of the money and from what I've heard used it to acquire sponsorship in WEC. Unfortunately F1 is a much tighter-knit business, word travels fast, and not only was Giedo a pay driver, he knew no F1 team would risk hiring him after such a mess.

      @@JebMotorsport I find this stuff proper interesting. It's kinda mad that the team just got rid of him and paid him off alot of money. I wonder what their reasoning was.

      Glad they pulled their act together with the Alfa deal. They were a mess in the mid-2010s. I could honestly make a series just on drivers Sauber screwed over and races they ruined

    hey wasnt he linked to super aguri honda f1 team also a long before this? and he also sued them for not getting a race seat like in contract as honda pressured them to take japanese driver instead? so he did this 2 times lol

    • @JebMotorsport
      @JebMotorsport  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, he tested for Spyker in 2007, but Super Aguri said he was their practice driver so it was all very confusing 😁
