  • This was a weekend full of firsts: my first weekend of back to back long runs and our first adventure with our rooftop tent! We trained at camped at altitude and got to enjoy some time in the mountains- and that’s exactly what this video showcases. Definitely a great weekend of 100km training!
    Please let me know if you are interested in seeing more of the rooftop tent or would like to see more vlog-style videos…or if you’d rather just see running content- I’m all ears.
    Thank you so much for watching- I have so many rad adventures coming up this summer so consider subscribing so you don’t miss ‘em :)

    If you haven't already, check out the Salomon XA filter. It will screw right onto those flask you are using, and you can just scoop and go, filtering as you drink. Plus, you can't forget it since it's also your lid! 😄

    Just ran my first beginner-friendly trail marathon this past weekend in Washington and have newfound respect for trail runners. I rolled my ankle 1.5 miles in and had about a dozen other near misses. Good luck with your training!

      Congratulations!! The ankles get stronger, I promise! 😂 I hope you go back for more!

      @@Kelly_Ben Thanks! I'll be sticking to road marathons for the rest of the year, but I might give a trail marathon another go next year.

      Thank you! I appreciate you! I'm sorry to hear about the ankle- like @kelly_ben said, the ankles certainly do get stronger 😂 I hope you find some more trails once your all healed up!!

      @@MountainHighLife Thanks! I'm nothing if not stubborn, so I'm planning to run that course again next year.

    Good training. The tent vehicle will come in handy for your 200mi race. I noticed chanler's 2nd day nike trail shorts steeply discounted recently in a nearby store. I passed on them as they have a ridiculous amount of pockets (and large ones too). The cinching to keep them up will def cause GI issues. Overkill on them.

    Amazing weekend of work! I'm a newer runner- I live in the rolling hills and small mountains of New Hampshire so very different terrain but I sometimes get a moose blessing too when I'm out rambling. Currently training for my first triathalon in September with the run portion being up and down my favorite mountain, doing lots of running now to get a solid base. I'm learning how important it is to train on tired legs and feeling fatigue but steady progress, very fun.

      That is so awesome! A moose spotting is always so cool, a lil scary, but so cool. I am originally from the East coast and I have so much love for that area! What distance triathlon are you doing? Best of luck to you!!💖

    Great video! Keep them coming :)
    Path projects has a similar hoodies but I think they only have men’s wear (though it seems unisex enough). I have the Pyrenees T19 but there’s a new thinner one too.

    Excellent video, the tent is very cool, I love that, and it's good to see a sensible nutrition plan being put into place, and that you're thinking about safety, warmth, etc. Also just staying really relaxed about the whole thing and enjoying it!

    Looks like a nice place to run. I'm in a 50k training block which has back to back long'ish runs on Sat/Sun with Sat being "race pace" and Sunday being "easy". On Sun I'm always cursing my Sat self for pushing so hard and on Sat I'm always thinking how hard Sun will be because of what I just did. One thing that rings true for me though, I don't have to worry about pushing too hard on my Sun "easy" run because I usually don't have the energy to push.

    • @MountainHighLife
      @MountainHighLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      that's the true love-hate, but I'm sure your body is adapting really well to training while fatigued which is going to make you so strong for that race! And it's always kinda nice when your body forces a true "easy pace" too lol

    Quick question! Does your heart rate shoot up right from the beginning? I’m a roadie so on the roads it’s easy to keep your HR low and steady but when I start climbing right away my HR is always high from the beginning. Thanks

    • @MountainHighLife
      @MountainHighLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! To give you the short answer- yes, if I start climbing out the gate, my HR will usually spike.
      The long answer: I’ve definitely had to modify how I approach a run that has climbing straight out the gate as it will effect my performance (mainly how my legs feel for the rest of the run). Depending on the grade, I give myself time to warm up and adjust and then will start running. A lot of times, I just have to tell my ego to be quiet 😂 but I would say pretty consistently that after the 20 minute mark, I’m pretty well warmed up and ready to push on the climbs. Hopefully this helps? Either way- thanks for the question and happy training!
