I'm in the middle(ish) of NC. You'd never know a hurricane came through the state if you only looked here. (We're far enough inland that we don't usually get serious damage, though flooding & wind are always an issue.) But the poor mountains who really aren't used to it....! I've taken two trips out there for supply delivery with a response team and....there are no words.
We are in Asheville, NC and the area was hit pretty hard with the storm. We were extremely fortunate and didn't have much damage, mostly a lot of downed trees. Others weren't as lucky and survivor guilt is setting in, especially with a lot of our favorite places to visit being hit the hardest. After two weeks without power and three weeks without internet, we are finally starting to get back into a homeschool routine. Our school year started one week before the storm hit so we are redoing everything that we had done that first week. Halloween definitely is not my favorite holiday, but the day after halloween through December is my jam! Something to look forward to in a time of uncertainty.
Our hearts go out to those who suffered so much lose. Glad to hear that you were mostly fortunate. And really glad to hear that you are getting back to normal! Nothing wrong with a little review after a long break. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Storms are scary!!! We used to worry about cyclones in Australia!!! It’s awesome that it didn’t hit you!!! It’s better to be prepared than not to be prepared!!! We don’t celebrate Halloween but we had a dress up party in March in WA (western Australia) with the athletes and families we travel with!!! That’s a math win saying that she hates it!!! Sending plans to my older kids and rabbit trails have helped us!!! We bought a classical vocabulary curriculum from sonlight and my high schoolers are loving it!!! I hear words that I know have came from their vocabulary curriculum!!! We had a fraction issue recently!!! I’ve threatened my older kids they would have a strict teacher and they don’t want this person to teach them so they do their independent work!!! They like this person but not as a teacher!!!
Dress up parties are the best! We are defiantly working more towards independence, but it's a struggle. LOL. I don't mind body doubling, but I don't want to do everything with you. Thanks for sharing!
I wish that I can say things will slow down but like you this is busy season and I’m not ready. It feels we will never have a good routine this year. But it’s still overall going well, just not as precise as I’d like. So glad you were safe from the hurricane.
Things slowing down? What's that? LOL. Some years I feel like we never hit a groove! But I'm glad to hear that overall things are going well. Thanks friend!

I highly, highly recommend giving Denison a shot. At first glance I was not sold, but it has been the biggest game changer for us and everyone else I know that has given it a shot. Thanks for the vibes! Right back at ya!
