I think due to bad formation, many of us as Catholics need this reminder about what *not* to feel ashamed of -- we should not feel ashamed of the Gospels, of following Christ, of conforming our lives to truth, of living out our beliefs. These things are not lowly. Rather, they are noble. It was a slow going process of at least five years for me to not feel an ounce of shame about practicing my Catholic faith, whether in public or in private. The propaganda and social pressure against us is that strong.

Learned a lot from this. I really didn't fully understand true humility. This, among other areas in my life, is something I really need to work on and pray about. You know a priest said something over his microphone not realizing that he was audible, he thought it was turned off. He said, "It's not their fault, they just haven't been catechized right." Many of the older parishioners were nodding their heads as in agreement with him, and some even said, "That's right!" This makes me wonder how many of us have not been catechized correctly. There are children, as well as those who are going through Catechesis as I did several years ago when I converted to Catholicism who are not receiving good information. This needs to change drastically, if not then the church will hurt all the way from the laity to our folks who have been chosen a religious vocation. Pray for the Church! 🙏🙏❤❤

Wow, such an amazing conference! I've learned so much and this will help me to overcome my disordered eating habits. On a side note, I'm a public school teacher and last summer we had a "professional development" day where they spoke of "shame," but of course they are changing the definition to shift blame from the person committing the lowly act to the person commenting on it's lowliness (eg a teacher reprimanding a student for misbehaving). Their definition of shame was "taking away someone else's joy or happiness." I knew there was something off about this training and their newspeak definition back then, but I couldn't articulate why. Thank you, Father, I now have the words and reasoning to push back against this if it comes back again this upcoming school year.

I’m in a horrible situation . My husband abandoned me two years ago to continue his affair his young co-worker . We’ve been married 33 years. There has been a lot of severe mental abuse. I’ve been hospitalized twice for severe depression . He has filed divorced against me . The point is that through all the suffering he has put me and our three children he seems to have no sense of shame. None . He parades his mistress all over the world for anyone to see, sending me pictures. Many other severe cruelties which I won’t go into. He’s been diagnosed by three MD’s as a sociopath first, and a narcissist second . I pray for him nonstop, offer up everything for his conversion , speak kindly to him through messages, speak about the love and mercy of Jesus . Nothing . No reaction . Denies God. Laughs about it. Rejects any help. Has no shame at all about what he is doing , the cruelty to me and our children . Finds justification for everything . I’m trying to understand how a human being can be so incapable of feeling remorse, empathy , shame . His mother has become an atheist and finds absolutely no problem with his behavior . I’m trying to understand . I guess he’s so deep in sin that he feels nothing , no shame, even hurting his own children . I pray and pray but it’s out of my hands . I feel powerless .

Get your case to the local bishop and start the proces of declaring your marriage non existant in the eyes of God and the Church. Stop fighting for something God didn't bless.

Write this on your walls, anywhere so that you are constantly reminded of:
"14 Do not harness yourselves in an uneven team with unbelievers; how can uprightness and law-breaking be partners, or what can light and darkness have in common?
15 How can Christ come to an agreement with Beliar and what sharing can there be between a believer and an unbeliever?
16 The temple of God cannot compromise with false gods, and that is what we are -- the temple of the living God. We have God's word for it: I shall fix my home among them and live among them; I will be their God and they will be my people.
17 Get away from them, purify yourselves, says the Lord. Do not touch anything unclean, and then I shall welcome you.
18 I shall be father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the almighty Lord." 2Cor6

You say: "I'm trying to understand"- bride of Christ does not try to understand evil. To understand, to know evil is to have it in yourself, to let it lord over you, to be in bondage with it. As a bride of Christ, you are free. God loves you, He gave his life for you to get you out of the hands of satan, and yet you constantly go back to him in your heart and mind. That man left you because he cannot stand Christ in you. He wants to torture you because he wants you and your children down with him. Evil is petty in that way. Satan hates himself, he is suicidal, he knows it all and still choses death and torture for himself, and wants others with him. One does not empathise with Satan, one does not try to understand him, he is to be rejected, and not understood
When that man sends you picture with other women or provokes you in any way you say out loud (for every demon to hear you) or quietly if that's the situation:
"I reject Satan, I reject his works, and I reject his empty promises.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has given me a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and forgiven all my sins. May he also keep me faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever.
      Amen."
And sprinkle yourself with the blessed water. Ask priest to bless your phone, your home and your children, and ask him for the Sacrament of the anointing of the sick for yourself. It may help you as in the Sacrament, we pray that the sick person be healed in body, soul and spirit. The Sacrament offers forgiveness and healing.

Yes it sad, children feel shame because a lot of times they think it was their fault. Which of course it's Not at all their fault. But if one who experienced this could take this experience and help other children to avoid abuse that can be healing. For the one abused has the knowledge of the grooming an adult does to convince or deceive the child. Such as what lies the adult told the child, or what threats, or gifts or promises were made. Teaching others how to avoid such things can be healing by just knowing they prevented the same thing that happened to them from happening to others. The more people teach about these situations the less likely they would happen.

    • @kmjacik8904
      @kmjacik8904 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Also the child who was abused can also teach adults what to watch out for as signs of grooming of their children since majority of abuse happens by someone in the family or someone known to the family like friends, teachers, coaches, etç...

Why do I often have dreams where my ineptitude results in shame and humiliation? (Other people have them, too.) In the dream I’ll go to work and discover as I walk into the lunchroom, that I’m wearing only my underwear! Everyone points, laughs, and mocks me. I’m horrified, not understanding how I could have forgotten to put on my clothes. I run out into the hall with everyone pursuing me, still mocking. I see my boss coming towards me and know I’m going to be fired, but that never happens because I wake up.
BTW, a parade took place recently where there was full, frontal nudity, and children were present whose parents brought them there!
False shame: When I was harangued by a relative for taking a part time job beneath my education and experience. My actions are not shameful because the point of the job is a step in recovery from five years of one trauma and setback after another. My physical and mental health are such that it is too much to handle return to the level of work I was at in 2018. Also, setting myself up for rejection and failure is unwise. I’ve fallen five years behind in use of technology, plus, being in my early 60’s and female age doesn’t exactly make businesses want to snatch me up before a competitor beats them to it!

If I'm being tormented in my dreams by demons, they always try to mock and humliate me in different ways. They enjoy it, and I can't stop it myself. Somehow, i such dreams, God granted me a free will to pray conciously, and when I pray, they disappear in a less than a second. These are the prayers I prayed so far: Lord's prayer, Rosary, and especially they cannot stand this one:
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

Don't let work define your value as a child of God.
Whether or not your health is compromised, taking a "lesser job" might invoke the ridicule of family which hurts the ego. The other commentator said it well... it hurts because we want to be extolled, honored, revered for what we do and achieve.
The only tragedy in life is not to be a Saint. Don't accept false shame from your relative. Give all that pain to God and let Him transform you and your relative through your humble submission. Jesus was a carpenter's son... he didn't need worldly honors in a prestigious job either. :)

It’s funny that I had the thought about quickening in terms of pregnancy while I was meditating on the scriptures this morning, and it has been related to the ability to hear which requires ears even though they are not fully defined in the concept of a quickening state. How would a deaf man be able to know that God was calling them if their auditory nerves were blocked? Same could be said for the capacity for speech, a person could be mute but still maintain the ability to hear and follow directions.

Saint Thomas Aquinas had a teacher in philosophy. His name is Aristotle. St Thomas himself is a theologien. A great one. The greatest. In order to be a good theologien you need a true philosophy as background. You need to know reality, to know being, then you can properly speak about God's being. St Thomas did so. That is why he became our teacher in faith.

What about for sociopaths and those with actual Narcissistic Personality Disorder(NPD)? They have a lot of shame, but no empathy. Where do they fit into this?

    • @miracles_metanoia
      @miracles_metanoia ปีที่แล้ว +3

False shame. They hate themselves very much, walled off by ego and false perception of themselves. They might seem overly confident to cover the deep subconscious insecurity.
They don't show empathy because as young children they didn't have parents or caregivers who knew how to emotional attune with the child. This happens even in "good families" where everything seems "good" on the outside.
In these cases, empathy can be learned by the intervention of the Holy Spirit. God is the best parent. If the narcissist REALLY wants to learn true compassion and empathy, God may answer their prayers, usually in a mid-life crisis. Unfortunately, many narcissistic types don't acknowledge there's a problem and thus don't seek, knock, nor ask God for such a gift.

@@miracles_metanoia yes after having been in a couple of relationships with sociopaths/NPD… I have realized that it’s definitely a spiritual battle and try to leave them to God. They nearly destroyed my life and I had so much anger and hurt from the betrayals and horrible things they caused.
I did not understand what I was involved in until recently and am out now thank goodness, but I also do pray for them when I think of them🙏 Still healing and doing inner work with God’s grace❤️‍🩹

What about when a person practices sexuality in marriage where the man lifts the essence of the orgasm to his mind and energetically and spiritually exchanges it with his wife rather than releasing his seed and succumbing to his lower desires? For this does utilize the higher faculties of the mind to do so. And it also utilizes grace and temperance as opposed to giving in to animal instincts. If I’m in error please explain why.

Shame would be doing something that you dont want anyone to know about because you are trying to hide your SIN from God, who SEES ALL THINGS. It would be like killing someone by murdering them, and hiding the body with another one of the two who witnessed the murder and took part in it with you. Shame would manifest if somebody (such as a third witness) suddenly woke up from a dead SLEEP and SUDDENLY appeared out OF THIN AIR! Sounds like it could not ever happen, right?

Why does Fr Ripperger only point out the evil in the left party?
When trump, his followers and the right winger clearly are the perfect examples of having no shame and no empathy
This is something I do not like about Fr. Ripperger or any priest who does this.
If he calls out one party for its evil, he seriously needs to call out the other and it's evils. Because then it sounds as if the other party does not commit evil.....when they clearly do.
I wonder if Fr. Ripperger acknowledges or feels shame and empathy for this.
