Thanks for that. I've been trying to break this z guard from a 240 lb purple belt (I'm 195) and it is tough. I notice that instead of passing guard he automatically goes to the Z guard. I'm going to practice this at home several times to see what happens. thanks for this.
I really like the details of clearing the leg on this one. I'll need to give those a try. I had been working a variation I saw on here from one of the Mendes brothers, but I was still having trouble sometimes getting my knee freed. I like the method at the end of this vid though. Thanks!
a couple of times i felt my shoulder crack (but no injury) when i put the underhook. I almost feel like the underhook (your right arm) feels useless, feels like i can get caught in a triangle or omoplata.
I'm just beginning bjj I'm learning 3 day today but when we roll it's like wth dude they know so many moves I don't know any but I am strong I have not got tapped yet but I really don't want to keep using strength it gets boring grappling with these guys when they are so good I know in time that will change it's cool tho no pRoblem but I like watching your videos trying to learn moves maybe I can surprise one of those guys
Well, not exactly true. You may excel at this sport, the more athletic you are. However, you can train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and not be in the best of shape. Train it enough, and you're probably going to get in better shape tho! I really believe Jiu Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of body type.
This guy's instruction is superb! he has a great way of delivering quite complex instruction simply.. thank you Stephan for putting this up.
Of all the BJJ instructional videos out there, I enjoy yours the most. Your teaching style makes it easy to absorb the info.
this seriously helped, thanks, been having problems getting out of this type of guard

Two great passes. Thanks Stephen and Brandon!
Sweet, I really needed this. Didn't know that this is considered a guard or even had a name though.
Very good pass. We find ourselves here quite often.
That second pass is genius.
This pass is an easy one, just like the headstand!
seems very realistic and practical
think i will buy this dvd for Xmas
This has helped me thank you sir.

Athleticism can definitely help technique, but it's not a substitute for it.
Maybe they should call this the Mullins Pass.
"a lot of people are going to say I'm not athletic, it's not going to work for me."
Are you somehow reading my thoughts? Get out of my head!!!
you have to be athletic to do the sport though
If you do the sport, you will become athletic.
knee shiel
too much work too learn, im getting a gun.
You doing fighting sport and you are not athletic ? Maybe time to go back to golf...
