    Great review. I received my Black Talon 2 serrated blade last week and liked it so much I bought a second one. All my other knives are EDC type folders but I was looking for a purely self defense type strong folder and settled on this. Figured I'd keep one in my car and the other can take with me at times. No, I'm not some tactical guy-- But since I can't legally carry a concealed gun in the County I live in, I figured this was the next best option--well, along with top brand pepper spray at all times.

    Awesome seeing you in the Cold Steel promo! Great exposure and recognition for all the awesome things you do. Keep it up 👍👍 just made up my mind, was on the fence between an Espada and the Talon, went ahead on the Black Talon serrated!

    Jimislash, a very big thank you. You da man! An excellent demonstration. You never disappoint. much appreciated. I love the Black Talon 2 an awesome blade. I think it looks even meaner with a serrated edge and as a self defense knife probably just beats the plain edge especially if there are layers of clothing involved. Enjoy the brisket with the family, you deserve it. 😎

    If you're going for all out damage to save your life I would probably use serrated in case they had clothes on it tears through everything but I personally prefer plain edge on most of my knives but I'm sure either one would destroy whatever you're using it on lol

    Hello Mr jimislash. I have a question. I have a BT2 serrated. And I was wondering how your tip was holding up on the knife? Because mine after the first time I did cardboard cuts with it for testing purposes. That needle like tip it had was gone almost instantly. And was wondering if your tip has fast wear on it?

    Hi Jimislash, I cant see clearly as in which is the better "slicer"?
    I wasn't into any folding blades in my knives collection but after seeing on youtube on both the Black Talon 2 and Tiger Karambit, I am fascinated by their outlook alone. I dont really will use my knives as all are just my collection as my hobby. But now although i am set to these 2 beast of a blade, i am not sure to purchase the serrated or non serated...the most i will do with the knives, is slicing paper or slash some fruits/meat like you. Which blade again as in serrated or non serrated as you own both on hand for reccomenation?

    • @Jimislash
      @Jimislash  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I carry the serrated more than the plain edge Black Talon. But that's just for back up self-defense, last ditch stuff. For a normal use, the plain edge will be easier to maintain. So, if you are going to get some normal use out of it, I'd go plain edge. I totally understand the hobby aspect of knives. :)

    I bought a spyderco Matriarch 2 and then just pounced on the Black Talon 2 non serrated. I think the Matriarch is awesome, but I think the BT2 non serrated can be a knife that I can actually get some use out of, besides just filleting people. Something about a Cold Steel knife, quality of build and a longer blade which catches my fancy. The Spyderco is nice but its cheaper in my opinion, less materials and more of hype on name. My daily carry is a Large Espada, but honestly I really like the Rajah 3 as well as a practical use knife.

    Nice knives! I would go for the non serrated Black Talon 2 myself. But I respect the serrations on the other version. Hawksbill knives are considered the "Wino's Friend", so be wary of hobos that go into their pockets and pull out of these blades. You may have an angry crowd of hobos brandishing Black Talon 2's coming after you if they have seen your earlier videos! Anyway, nice Cold Steel stuff!

    Funny thing is, I got the plain edge black talon completely by accident off of Amazon when I paid for a Recon 1 tanto. The second time was a charm since I got the Recon i’m still carrying, but I totally would’ve kept the Black talon if I could’ve dished out a separate payment for a Recon.

  • @ScottieG59
    @ScottieG59 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, the Black Talon is modeled after the Spyderco Civilian (with permission, sort of), and that knife is made to do major damage with no real training. If you put clothes or a leather coat over the meat, you should see that the serrated version is definitely better.

    Isee this as a summer knife.I live in a cold country where peoplr wear alot of clothes in the winter and you must stabb to get things done. Can it be lethal,absolutly. And it is a less lethal tool if you want to incapsitate someone instead of killing a person. It will leave some gruesome wounds but not so lethal as a stabbing knife and that is a pluss.slash slash and run the hell out off the situation. Just my wiew on it. I have the non serrated one in mail,cant wait for the beauty to arrive.And the large Espada and the magnum tanto IX in san mai.;-))

    hook shape blade aren't meant for good cutting, they don't cut as good compared to curves blade, it may look mean but it suck for cutting or stabbing, its like a race car with a honda civic motors.

    • @krazykat64
      @krazykat64 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's obviously not designed for stabbing, but most self defense experts would certainly disagree with you about it's cutting prowess. That blade design is specifically made for slashing cuts in a defensive situation. The tip digs in to give it positive purchase on contact, forcing the swept belly to bear down and slice through while dragging the tip along as you follow through with the cutting motion to cause maximum damage and a deeper, larger wound channel. It works extremely well in that role and can be devastating even in the hands of an untrained person.
