I'm so glad RuPaul mentioned Nelson Sullivan. I've been watching the channel with all of Nelson's videos and it's all so fascinating. He seemed like such an amazing person. May he rest in peace. Glad RuPaul still has love for him.

Props to RuPaul for showing love to Nelson. James was around Nelson quite a bit too, but you hardly ever hear James bring him up.
Nelson was an amazing guy and deserves the same recognition as Michael Musto.
Yes, Nelson was amazing. And thanks to him, we have all of these amazing videos of Ru and the crew and the Club Kids, etc... from back in those days. And let me say- I LOVE watching Nelson's videos. So glad he was always recording and now we have these videos to look back on 💘

@@dianadundidit5343 I agree 100%. Musto was/is a bit of a slimeball and just hung around so he could get his kicks all the while writing down upon the Club Kid scene he so desperately wanted to be a part of, but knew he could never be.
I wish more of the club kids today talked about Nelson. He loved them all and loved capturing them...... we get a look into the raw scene rather than jsut what we have heard from party monster and the downfall.

I'm so happy to hear Ru acknowledge and show appreciation for Nelson. I've been watching Nelson's videos and Ru is the star of them! He absolutely loved him and it shows. It just ties it all up in a pretty bow for me to hear Ru talk about how he mentored him and showed him the way, now, all these years later as the mother of all Drag Queens :)
And thank god for Nelson and his video camera!! I can't get enough of all the videos that are uploaded on here.

Thanks for mentioning Nelson, Ru!! He really was such a wonderful individual. I only got to meet him a few times when I was 16 and visiting NY and saw this guy carrying around a video Camera filming and talking about everything. Being an actor and a film fanatic..... I just had to know who he was and introduced myself. He was so gracious to me. I'm so glad his videos are up and everyone can know who Nelson was. Thanks for a great interview guys!

James loves to talk. Ru is so sweet, love how he acknowledges Nelson Sullivan and Dick Richards, Dick uploaded all of Nelson’s videos to TH-cam and I’m so grateful that we all got to see them and they were shared with the World, just amazing 😍
I love the scene in "Party Monster" when James talks about placement in pictures. He recommended to Michael to always make sure you are the first one on the left.

James St James wouldn't even let RuPaul speak. This wasn't an interview - it was James St James just rattling on, endlessly.. RuPaul seemed uncomfortable in parts of this, because James keeps going on about himself..
He is a wordy fella but maintains respect at all times.
+clash4421 I noticed that, too, but that's just how James is. I don't think there's any disrespect intended. He just gets excited and starts talking a mile a minute. Having known James more than half his life, it seems Ru is totally used to him being this way and just let him be him. I've seen RuPaul in other interviews and, let me tell u, he gets his points, sentences and opinions across no matter how the interviewer tries to distract him. Its one of the things I love about Ru! :)

Divine and Rupaul made a huge difference in the gay/drag queen scene......love, love, love them both. Nelson Sullivan was waaaayyyyy ahead of his time with his video camera!! He definitely knew what was to come!!!
