What a great actress and there are so many things right with this performance and this pick. First of all, Ms Spacek was perfectly cast. even MTM thought she won an Oscar ........but NO!!!
@@AEMoreira81 Spacek was the clear favorite at the time.
I just watched Carrie, and got surprised seeing her as a normal person being no problematic, nor shy. This just means that she's a great actress with a great talent, and intelligence.
I remember when Universal was in production of Coal Miner's Daughter...I would hear how the day went...and couldn't wait until March of 1980 when I first saw this awesome movie.
A well-deserved win in a category jam packed with deserving nominees!
Sissy is the poster woman for what an artistic performer should work towards. She is amazingly talented, kind, generous and humble as well as beautiful. Performers should strive towards the example she sets, rather than embracing narcissism, greed and fame at any cost. Audiences should embrace the hard working, talented and kind members of our society and disregard the narcissistic and selfish ones.
All these fine ladies deserved an award but I'll never forget my grandmother cheering when "Little Sissy" won. Loretta was proud too!
