There's a reason he's always been called a Rolls Royce and the perfect defender - people wouldn't call him those things if he weren't good on the ball. Also, when people argue that Van Dijk's the best ever CB in the league, they always argue by saying that Van Dijk can do literally everything needed as a defender and that Terry, Ferdinand and Vidic couldn't do everything what Van Dijk can do. Especially his famous long diagonal balls to Salah and Trent have been a renowned pass throughout his years at Liverpool. It's just that Rory had a shocker in this video by not knowing that Van Dijk's been a special player on the ball while also being an amazing defender for many years. Also, comparing him to David Luiz was outrageous. Yeah, Luiz was good on his day but he was never anywhere near Van Dijk's levels and he was way too inconsistent and rash as a defender to even compare the two. It's literally night and day between them as Van Dijk is calm (just like his song: ''he'll pass the ball, calm as you like'') like you wouldn't believe and he's always a step ahead and knows what to do next. His consistency in terms of performing at a top level season after season (only had a underwhelming season in 22/23 just like the rest of the team) are the key words for Van Dijk, so not anything like David Luiz.

VVD, Konate, Robertsen, Endo, Salah, Bradley, Szoboszlai...all players that have been holding their nations Captains Armband. VVD is the perfect Captain and the squad and the club really acts like a family. Edwards brought in Slot because of they way Slot is, very similar to Klopp but yet different. Liverpool is in a good place but as a fan I would not get carried away. Last season started off well but wheels came off in the last 6-games or so. Liverpool can only march on comfortably when they are at least 15 points ahead of their nearest competitor. Last season injuries in the second half season derailed a lot of the games and news of Klopp leaving. The good thing is this season the bench looks deeper. Players like Jones and Gravenberch have vastly improved and hopefully we see the same from Elliott coming back from injury. I'd like to see others like Endo, Nyoni, Danns, Morton to be given significant minutes in domestic cup games to have them fit for league games should the need arise. Many are writing Chiesa off but I believe there is a player in there. For Liverpool to continue charging on, I think Nunez and Szobo need to be better week in week out. Also Salah needs to stop commenting on his contract issue with the media, we don't need unnecessary distraction. Did they not learn from Klopp's announcement last season and how it impacted the team during the last mile of the season?
On another note… Trent’s unorthodox cross field pass to salah before the assist on gakpo’s goal was outta this world… The most dynamic right back in the league by a country mile… Original topic and fun fact…. Slot in his managerial career has never conceded 2 loses on the bounce…
I think he came in and realised that scoring goals would not be a problem at all with the forwards and creativity behind them we have so he’s come in and made us so defensively sound that we no longer need to score as many, how many times under klopp did we win 3-2 or 4-3, i think we’ve conceded more than one in a game twice or three times this season. We’ve scored the 4/5th most goals in the league but we’re so far at the top because we don’t concede. We often score 2/3 a game but concede 0-1 hense why we win every game
As a Liverpool fan.. I have too much PTSD to say it’s our league… I believe in the boys.. I believe in the fans to get behind them every week.. and I believe in our coach… but I feel like every year around February we have a wobbly period.. we don’t lose but we draw like 4-5 games.. if Liverpool can avoid that.. maybe lose 1 or 2 but get the wins instead of the draws.. I think they’ll be okay.. but damn.. we ain’t even in January… let’s take it one week at a time and enjoy it while we can .. up the pool!!
Klopp had an ideology. Klopp was not a tactician. Klopp had one way of playing. Slot is a Tactician. When Klopp came up against teams who were setup to stop Liverpool from plaing (parking the bus etc) Klopps team struggled and ran out of ideas. This team is a different beast.
Still early days but LFC does look promising. What I like about Arne Slot (as opposed to JK) is that he has no favourites and select players based on form and not reputation AND he DOES have a Plan B when things do not go as planned. His substitutions are calculated and effective.
I don't understand the part about Van Dijk; he has been playing like that for years, a wall in defense and a catalyst in attack. He has been famous for his rasping passes out to Salah, and now to Diaz on the other side, for several years.
Carragher/Agger were statistically the best CB pairing in the league ever in terms of goals conceded per game let alone for Liverpool but a lot of that was probably Benitez tactics.

IMHO, Basically PEP changed the old saying I remember sir Alex said during winning 13 Premier League championship s with possession everywhere and he sacrificed history by winning 4 times in a row 'Attackers win you games but defense wins you championships 'and he has to change again because he has made City into a one man team. I think he came in and realised that scoring goals would not be a problem at all with the forwards and creativity behind them we have so he’s come in and made us so defensively sound that we no longer need to score as many, how many times under klopp did we win 3-2 or 4-3, i think we’ve conceded more than one in a game twice or three times this season. We’ve scored the 4/5th most goals in the league but we’re so far at the top because we don’t concede. We often score 2/3 a game but concede 0-1 hense why we win every game
Slot is much more happy to win 2-0 rather then the 5-3 scores of the klopp era.

As a Liverpool fan.. I have too much PTSD to say it’s our league… I believe in the boys.. I believe in the fans to get behind them every week.. and I believe in our coach… but I feel like every year around February we have a wobbly period.. we don’t lose but we draw like 4-5 games.. if Liverpool can avoid that.. maybe lose 1 or 2 but get the wins instead of the draws.. I think they’ll be okay.. but damn.. we ain’t even in January… let’s take it one week at a time and enjoy it while we can .. up the pool!!

Still early days but LFC does look promising. What I like about Arne Slot (as opposed to JK) is that he has no favourites and select players based on form and not reputation AND he DOES have a Plan B when things do not go as planned. His substitutions are calculated and effective.
I don't understand the part about Van Dijk; he has been playing like that for years, a wall in defense and a catalyst in attack. He has been famous for his rasping passes out to Salah, and now to Diaz on the other side, for several years.
Carragher/Agger were statistically the best CB pairing in the league ever in terms of goals conceded per game let alone for Liverpool but a lot of that was probably Benitez tactics.
