BBC Ceefax turns 50

- In a time when there was no internet, mobile phones, pagers, fax machines or fast computers, there was only one alternative way to consume news, sport, weather, travel, TV and radio listings in real time.
Ceefax was the internet before the internet was even thought of - the first 24/7 news service anywhere, and in its heyday it attracted more than 20 million viewers a week.
It would have been better to watch it on Ceefax...
