- Hey everyone! School is back in session and it is time to get ready to assure we start the year off smoothly! Today, Jamilah starts her first day of school whereas Marcel starts preplanning. The first dat of school can be a stressful one but today Marcel is going to give all teachers advice on how to start the year off right - organization, planning and recourses! I taught on the high school level biology, chemistry, and physics for 7 years. I start back in another week. That bug is pretty mummified by now. 😀😁😂🤣😉Thanks for the tips.

What state are you in? I’ll be doing a classroom set up video soon. We’ll see how it goes, I’m not the biggest decorator but I have to make it look good for the students and parents.

I’m going into my first year teaching high school biology. I’m so nervous! Did a career change so I’ve never taught before and I didn’t get a student teaching experience. How do you do your lesson plans? Do all of the biology teachers do them together and follow the same plan or do you do separate individual plans ?
It's okay to be nervous! It's normal. Just make sure to take time to prepare during the week of planning, because preparation is essential. Every school does their lesson plans differently, but you should be given a template on how to complete. Some templates are overly complicated and some are perfect! Generally, lesson plans are completed separately as that is your personal twist and approach on how you want to teach the course. However, you all as a team will establish a calendar on what will be covered over a certain time period. We hope this helps!
