Actually such an awesome innings does deserve proper amount of appreciation and if one doesn't appreciate a innings as such, it would be injustice to the majestic style of the player. Actually, the scenario was that being the decider of the 5 match one day series, the Aussies were on a high and ended up amassing 433 runs with series win all on cards for them but they never had any idea of what fate had in store for them. When the Proteas came out to bat, they were all set to make it to a match of it and as if there was no other day, they batted superbly bludgeoning the bowlers all over the park dispatching the ball over the ropes at their will and when Herschell Gibbs came out to the crease, he wrecked havoc. First of all, he set his eyes all over and then took the bowlers to the sword. Just 111 deliveries faced by Gibbs for his mammoth effort to score 175 magnificent runs and set up a perfect platform for the lower order to keep up with the run rate which at one point of time was close to 9 per over got down to 6.5 runs per over. So, one can easily access the significance of the master class displayed by Gibbs in the game that too a decider in a 5 match one day series.
