I was so surprised to hear you describe this as an "adventure bike" because that's EXACTLY how I've been describing it! It's the one I ride when I don't know exactly where i'm going or what kind of terrain I'll be on, so I ride it a lot - 6,000 miles so far. It's a joy to ride.

Yay! I love that you grab the Liv Devote when you go adventuring! That’s the best kind of riding! Have fun out there.

Got this model for Wifey to match my Revolt. They come with 32/48 front rings. Friend got new bike same time came with 30/46 rings, and can climb much better than Wifey. Did you put on lower gears for your touring set-up? Looks like I can easily change to 30/46, which will be nicer running empty, but if carrying gear seems we would need even lower gears. Did you change yours? thnx...

great question and YES I do change my gears on my bikes depending on where I live and the majority of the type of riding I will be doing. Someone living in the mountains is going to need some different gearing than someone in the plains. So I usually leave my bikes set up for where I live and normally ride. Then for a big event, I might change the gears depending on what I'm doing. A super long bike packing event or ride might need lower gearing due to the length of the ride and also if you're loaded down. I hope that helps! I wish more people were willing to change their gears to suit the rider and the terrain. You don't have to do it often, but when you do it's a real game changer.

Can you go over the gears and basics for a beginner rider? I just bought this bike and could use a few pointers.

First, congratulations on your new bike! You’re gonna have so much fun out there. Second, don’t worry about being a beginner , just swing a leg over and start riding. The gears are pretty intuitive once you just start clicking around. You’ll find out quickly what controls make it easier to pedal and which ones make it harder to just keep clicking gears to learn them. One thing is to be pedaling when you’re shifting as this helps the chain move on the cassette more easily when the pedals are going around. Have fun!!
