Why is it on every video that someone makes that doesn't paint a glorious, tourist-catalog-ready African nation, people get up in arms and begin to insult that person. These videos are made as warnings for people who may romanticize what they expect and get hit with hard truths. She ( and videos like hers) is letting people know how they may be disappointed, where the pitfalls in their preparation may be. Everyone isn't going to be an entrepreneur. She's speaking to those who think that just like you can move from wherever to the US or Europe and "make it," it doesn't necessarily work in the reverse. I really don't understand the "I'm offended." "Stay where you are" "Africa don't need you" really short sighted, unhelpful comments. We need to do better.
The fact is Ghanaian institutions are useless! This lady here isn't far from the truth! The leaders are simply corrupt and inefficient!!! We've got a lot to do as a nation!😒
I have watched a lot of videos about Ghana 🇬🇭 trying to determine what’s its really like living there. I just felt my vacation visit didn’t give me an accurate live there feeling. All the African American ex pats paint this rosy picture, but my instincts tell me that is not the whole truth. You are the first and only person that has been honest with me! Thank you. ♥️
The expats paint a rosy picture because they need more AA to help them survive. They will not tell you that you are considered a competing tribe there and basically on your own. Gabby gives an extremely accurate picture of the issues there. Its a wonderful place to visit and connect with your roots.
@@MamaDee737 That is what I have always felt. The majority of African American expats in Ghana and elsewhere in Africa don't want to go it alone on the continent. Hence they paint a rosy picture of life in Africa, with no mention of the challenges, such as infrastructure. While simultaneously pushing hella hard to convince as many AAs as possible to relocate to the continent. As you mention they are likely to find that they are a competing tribe, on their own. Most diasporans have no idea about the importance of tribe/s in Africa. It is the cornerstone of identity & sense of belonging for black Africans. A lot of bad things come with tribalism, like nepotism.
Chile, I am loving how your accent changed, especially when you were talking about LIGHTS OFF! LOLOL Seriously, I am so glad you talked about these things. Everyone always wants to give the tourist version of life in Africa. But we need realism no matter how negative because these are things people will encounter, everyday in Ghana and other African countries.
Gabby!! Thanks for telling the truth! I was born and raised in Ghana and I agree with everything you said! Black people need to come together to build up the country. I love Ghana but the politicians are corrupt with everyone’s mindset “what’s in it for me”. I would love to see Ghana flourish.
@@chessmove759 In Africa we don't care about other about races of other politicians we're only concerned about the ones in our race who are on a whole other level against other Black people.
Hahaha! Imagine if social media existed during slavery days or Jim Crow, how many Americans would rather go to Ghana over being lynched to death in America... STOP COMPARING GHANA TO AMERICA. America is a white man's country, they literally traveled thousands of miles to captures and enslave black people for 400yrs to build America to where it is today, they also stole trillions from Africa to ensure the system is where it is today in America... Also America owes 29trillion dollars in external debt and all the facilities in America are based on credit. African countries have no access to credit, the world bank and IMF starve Africa of developmental funds!!! Africa & Ghana is what it is today because of America & Europe... So, no need to be a traitor! You have to understand that it's your job as black people to uplift the countries in Africa. Take money from European countries & go and build Africa. America is not your home & it will never be!!!
I loved hearing the fluctuations in her accent, very fluid, and interesting. She perfectly articulated herself no matter how or what she said. Shows just how relative we actually are to one another and also personally, gives me faith that the obstacles african americans face trying to learn about and connect to their roots arent as large as they seem. I recently spent time in Ghana & there are far more issues to cope with, but there are great environmental benefits the like quality of food & water supply & climate. Issues from abroad like eczema & arthritis disappear in Ghana.
Good job Gabby. I am from Ghana and can say you hitting the nail on the head. Do not worry about the negative comments and keep on with the good job. Thanks.
It is what it is, and what it is is corruption, the foundation of which is having a country that is not founded on good moral values. I appreciate your honesty. I have some friends in Uganda, and it is so discouraging, realising how limited and how corrupt and how little they have. We are so blessed in the US.
Fair assessment of Ghana 🇬🇭 generally as someone who has spent all my adult life in Europe and relocated back in 2016. I’ve experienced most of what you’ve covered in your video and my remedy for now is to enjoy both worlds. Ghana most of the year then few months to visit my family in Europe and back to Ghana 🇬🇭. At the moment I’m caught up in lockdown in Europe just waiting to see what new travel rules will be before going back to Ghana 🇬🇭. I’m very well organised in Ghana and very happy when I’m there, the only thing I’m not interested is any form of business because of corruption. I can’t deal with the stress of business issues in Ghana 🇬🇭.... Difficult topic but you’ve covered the subject well done 👍🏾
Thank you very much. Im actually in the same boat. I enjoy living at both places but more in Ghana for sure. Im locked down in the States too, as soon as the boarders are open we making moves. I do agree with the business aspect but I will take my chances. Thanks for tuning in appreciate the comment!!

Thank You, oh yeah, as you went on in this video yoou accent got deeper and deeper, and I would have figured out that you were from there! I Love It!
I have found both of your video's helpful. I am American and have been fortunate enough to visit several countries in Africa. I have not been to Ghana, but I would love to see it one day. There are two things that you did not mention that I would like to hear your perspective on....the weather (year round) and the crime rate. Thanks so much for any information you can share on these two topics.
Thanks for your insight. I needed to hear this information. It helps me identify the things i need to research in the African country that i am thinking of moving to. Ignore the bad comments, keep it real. Thank you!
Hi, I've been dealing with Ghana since 1994, the best thing to do is go for a while, not 2 weeks but maybe 6 months to 1 year! I would suggest waiting till then to make major purchases! I saw your first video, I have experience all of them! You have to be strong to deal with these type of things!
Keep up the great work Gabby. Your information is helping others make informed decisions. My first visit to Ghana was bitterly shocking. I went back a few more times and came to love the place. In doing so, my expectations of the place diminished. Now I simply say, "This is Ghana for you."
Truth be told there are good and bad . I had experiences on both ends of the spectrum. So I respect your opinion. Keep talking the truth Gabs... At times we need to take things with a pinch of salt.
I seriously love your videos. Much appreciated 🙏. Thank you 😊🙏. I actually have met the love of my life from ghana and I thank God for him daily. I am from the United States. You helped me understand his culture in his country more better. Thank you 😊
On tuition fee, I attended Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and I paid less than $100 per semester. I attended community College in America and I pay more than $2000 per semester. The tuition is very well subsidized by the government in Ghana. A similar situation is the Pell Grant American government awards to permanent resident and citizens if you qualify. If you entered the university as international student expect to pay more like anywhere else with no help whatsoever ever if you don't have scholarship
Your assessment is honest and I really appreciate it. Some people shy away from the truth and facts because they don’t spit out the dark side of the country to the outside world but the truth must be told. Stay blessed.
Those are the things that my make you regret moving to another country. I watched another video before yours and the guy made moving to Ghana a bed of roses, the things you discussed would drive me crazy but knowing what I might expect that ahead of time would not make moving so shocking. Thanks.
Some guys sugar-coat a lot, but the truth is that every concerns she expressed cut across the entire West Africa and so many other African countries! But the problem with Ghanaian brothers and sisters is being economical with the truth on ground! It's good to be proud of your country, but acknowledge when a neutral person comes in and sees all that you ignore! Accept it and learn from it! Another good video!
Thank you for the precautionary advices! Have been honing in on trying to live in Ghana for a few months, and if me likey, try seasonal (winter north Europe). The advices in this and pt1 are the most comprehensive ones I've seen so far, and I really appreciate it that you alert for the bumps/pits one can stumble over. I am now even less deterred, Ghana looks like the place I should be 🕵️♂️

This is another stupid way of discrimination...you can refuse her of anything she may require based on what you believe her accent is. Just make another comment of her skin colour that she’s either too light or too dark. She speaks much better than African Americans,,she has no EBONIC accent
The internet thing was like wow. That's how I felt when I was there for a visit. I spent a lot of money on data. When I got back to Canada and connected to my WiFi I had a big moment of sigh. Until internet infrastructure is improved I doubt myself moving there personally. That's my only pet peeve. Not the biggest issue or most important issue to face in Ghana but having unlimited reliable internet is important to me .

Isra'e Thompson-Alston but that’s just the thing, I am going back too. Yes Ghana has issues but I love it I just want people to know what they will deal with so they can decide what place would be better for them that’s all.
@@GabbyMack accra has more problems than the rest of Ghana. Accra is the most expensive place in Ghana. Try other regions in Ghana and u would not experience frequent power cuts
@@nanakgee you're right, Accra and Kumasi are the last 2 places I'll stay in Ghana. I can spend a weekend in Accra and that is it.
Isra'e Thompson-Alston I think you are only exaggerating coming to Ghana won’t make you any comfortable you can bet with me
This is one big sickness we are all facing living abroad. Everybody talks about comfort abroad but it comes at a huge price, stress, utter depression, racism on a monumental scale, bias, police brutality....
A few years abroad is enough and it's time to be content with what you've got in Ghana.
I love how she can switch her Ghanaian accent on and off at will, that’s so awesome!! She’s beautiful.
Thank You 😊
Hey, Gabby. I appreciate you sharing your opinions on Ghana. It's helping me make a more informed decision.
Thank you for being real, imagine going to a hospital with a medical emergency and that happens, and its not only in ghana but other african countries too. Its scary. The bribery part, mmmm I dont know how we can kick out the vice coz its deep rooted. Its not easy to just move to Africa just like that especially if you have never been there for the longest time. You have to plan very seriously, its not all roses
I like how your Ghanaian accent came out when you started talking about utilities. 😀
Your observations and findings are spot on. There might be exceptions but most of the time your video applies.
I recently spent time in Ghana & there are far more issues to cope with, but there are great environmental benefits the like quality of food & water supply & climate. Issues from abroad like eczema & arthritis disappear in Ghana.
bedina davis Is just hard to get a decent well paying job.
You are so right! I felt so much better there health-wise. All the food is mostly natural!
Thats why it would be great to try and help build businesses there in Ghana before moving there. But it takes a village.
When she said infrastructure I also wanted to know about the quality of food and the water supply - the availability of power and fuel.
Quality of water supply.
Good job Gabby. I am from Ghana and can say you hitting the nail on the head. Do not worry about the negative comments and keep on with the good job. Thanks.
Thank you! I like for ppl to tell it to me straight up! No sugar coating.
Thanks for your honesty...this video is very helpful.
Lovely Video. Bless You for the Truth. Never-mind the people who do not understand your intent.
I APPRECIATE YOU SOO MUCH!!
Thanks for your insights!
You are welcome keep up the good work!
It is what it is, and what it is is corruption, the foundation of which is having a country that is not founded on good moral values. I appreciate your honesty. I have some friends in Uganda, and it is so discouraging, realising how limited and how corrupt and how little they have. We are so blessed in the US.
I Like your objectivity. Be yourself and speak your mind. A honest assessment is much better for anyone who wants to relocate
I for one thanks you for the content... I think what you are doing is on point .. and need
I really appreciate your truth about Ghana. Thank you very much.
Thank you for providing that information. It’s always good to do your research before moving out of the country.
Thanks for tuning in appreciate the comment!!
it took me a while to be interested in business and of course skip the corruption
Thank you for sharing. I like the fact that you give us the pros and cons.
Queen, I thank you for the information you have givien, I am thinking of relocating to Ghana and I've been doing allot of research and i've heard all the great things about Ghana but rarely did I hear about some of the challenges that will be faced there. I apricate your honesty because now I know how to prepare myself before going and knowing what to expect. I will be relocating alone and this information is priceless. Thank You, oh yeah, as you went on in this video yoou accent got deeper and deeper, and I would have figured out that you were from there! I Love It!
Glad I can be of help! Consider it all you will be better prepared when you know all to expect! Lol yes 😂😂
You are beautiful! I enjoyed your presentation!
Nice one, I love your videos I even enjoy viewing the old videos you motivated me to a point of starting my channel too. Love this channel 👏
Great stuff.
Honest observations. Some of us love it.
Do not be put off by others whose adverse comments clearly are made from lazy minds...
🤙🏿
Gabby you are ultra intelligent and sis ty....🙏🏾ty for telling the truth!
Now I simply say, "This is Ghana for you."
thats exactly what I say every time I arrive, but still love it though!
Very informative. Thanks for sharing because culture shock is real.
Truth be told there are good and bad . I had experiences on both ends of the spectrum. So I respect your opinion. Keep talking the truth Gabs... At times we need to take things with a pinch of salt.
Thank you
I seriously love your videos. Much appreciated 🙏. Thank you 😊🙏. I actually have met the love of my life from ghana and I thank God for him daily. I am from the United States. You helped me understand his culture in his country more better. Thank you 😊
That’s beautiful to hear. No problem at all 🙏🏽😊
Hay good informative material. Truth has to be told. I can relate to all points raised being African.
I respect you for being honest on these matters about Ghana. Thumbs up.
Thank you Ms. Gabby , you did very, very well . 🤨
Thank you very much for your honesty and I do support you 👍🎉
thank you🙏🏽
Your assessment is honest and I really appreciate it.
I am now even less deterred, Ghana looks like the place I should be 🕵️♂️
I am making a trip to Ghana this year Aug 2020. I would love to have a local Ghanaian to show me and my sister around.
If the boarders are opened .. i will like to tour you guys ..
DM me on IG @ __nana.aba__
Did you get to go?
No cancelled bc travel partner was scared we would get stuck and worried if they would require quarantine procedures.
When they hating then u doing the right thing
First time listener I thought your session was very informative. I was in Ghana for 2 weeks during the holidays Xmas and New Year 2019-20. Thank you
Vincent Ashby thank you 🙏🏽 hope you enjoyed your stay?
Thank you for sharing your story and your truth. ❤😊🇧🇴
You are great! I enjoy hearing the truth! Keep it coming!
I appreciate this very much. 💕💕💕
I love her two accents
Glad I visited Ghana. You're on point with your information. The traffic jams bear mentioning. And by the way, cost of living is relatively high.
This,s gospel truth keep it on I like you don't be afraid continue tell the truth
This helps me empathize with my friends in Ghana.
Gabby thanks for your information. It is good to hear what to expect. This is a big help. It is a similar situation with Jamaica.
Geez It's your LIVED experience, how can anybody discount that. Thanks for balancing the narrative. I have only heard Ghana is a dream.
J Simmons hmmmm I wonder myself. But everyone has to have an opinion. What can we do? Nothing!
I love how your accent goes and comes!! That's awesome.
Edward Fredericks are you more concerned 😟 of her accent or about what she’s saying..
This is another stupid way of discrimination...you can refuse her of anything she may require based on what you believe her accent is. Just make another comment of her skin colour that she’s either too light or too dark.
She speaks much better than African Americans,,she has no EBONIC accent
Gordon Anderson what?!? Are you actually trolling??? Lol.
@@Blacktsalagi73 yes, yes yes... I am
Fred I feel you on that. Not everyone can be without good internet
Maybe you can start a company to improve it. Why would you wait for it to be improved before you can come along and enjoy it. I thought this will spin some business ideas from you since you have the resources.
@@augustinelarwehmahu6092 not everything is about starting a new company.
Fred, hope you didnt pay to heat your apartment in Ghana, Africa is different from Canada? What you pay here, you dont pay there and vice versa
@@bismarkopoku384 don't know what your issues are but I have no clue that the hell you are talking about!!!!
Thanks for not sugar coating it! You are telling the truth.
Thanks for the info. I have a friend that lives there and she says the same thing.
I appreciate your realness and your experiences you are sharing. Thank you.
Gabby, you are captivating!
