Way back in 1987, I was a college freshman (at 20 - he was 26; I just wanted to work and have fun right after high school) in Nashville (I'm from L.A.; grew up in and around the entertainment industry) and I met him at a music convention (Jack the Rapper) in Houston. (A longtime family friend was an exec in the business and he flew a friend and me out for the weekend just for the hell of it). The last party ran into the wee hours and we had an early flight back to school; we were afraid we'd miss it if we went to sleep. Luke, the perfect gentleman that he was, agreed to hang out to help us stay up all night (and I don't mean that facetiously; he didn't do or say anything rude or untoward during those hours)... So even when he was in the thick of the 2 Live Crew heyday, he wasn't that guy behind closed doors (at least with us - IN HIS HOTEL ROOM; the whole convention took place in one hotel and they wouldn't let us "loiter" in the lobby in the middle of the night). We kept in touch for awhile after that, and he actually asked to talk to my parents because he wanted me to transfer to the University of Miami (he said he was connected and that he could make it happen quickly). That was NOT going to happen - for several reasons: #1, I was attending my father's alma mater, #2, Luke's songs didn't exactly give "I'll look out for your only daughter" vibes, and #3, I wasn't pushing for it myself lol. Obviously, I don't know what his ultimate plans would have been if he'd managed to get me down there, but I have SERIOUS trust issues, and he didn't make any alarm bells go off - aside from wanting me to switch schools so I'd be in his backyard lol. (I wasn't so naive as to think that he wasn't interested in a "more than friends" relationship though; he'd made that clear. And I never asked him for anything, nor did he offer me anything to try to entice me.) Also, he knew me well enough (we talked quite a bit) to know that (unless he literally held me captive) I'd just go home at the first sign of trouble because my parents had the means to get me out of there ASAP. But he still kept trying much longer than an "ordinary" guy would have (especially odd since we never saw each other again after that night in Houston). When all was said and done, I ended up thinking that he was someone whose "persona" was quite different from the person... in a good way. We'd have probably ended up being friends if the timing and the logistical circumstances had been different (most of my friends have always been guys, and dating "celebrities" - despite being around tons of them over the years, especially after I became a screenwriter - never seemed like a good gig for a lifelong tomboy like me. I'm straight, but the "girly/sexy" stuff just isn't something I EVER wanted to do on a regular basis. I could convincingly play dress-up - painful heels and all - when I wanted to, but all the time? JUST NO lol). All that being said, I'm certain that Luke partook in more than his fair share of debauchery, but I 100% believe that his version of it was miles away from what Diddy has allegedly done.

This one time, i went to a big fancy party at my friends house in Beverly Hills (mind you, id been to many of their parties nothing strange always fun) this time I let my husband leave me and go to the next event cos i was still having fun. Anyway at the very end once most ppl had left, the hairdresser pulled out a heavy bag of coke that was passed around. Im strong enough not to participate in nonsense and I left about 30mins after that. Point is, yes it’s very possible to be at a party and bot be privy to the weird other shit. Differences is at the Luke freak parties is they were upfront about it, and it was public knowledge that was what the party was for and average Joe's could go. They were literally called freak nik .

I believe them. I live and work at a very high level in the film business. I go to a lot of events and usually leave at a reasonable time. This one time, i went to a big fancy party at my friends house in Beverly Hills (mind you, id been to many of their parties nothing strange always fun) this time I let my husband leave me and go to the next event cos i was still having fun. Anyway at the very end once most ppl had left, the hairdresser pulled out a heavy bag of coke that was passed around. Im strong enough not to participate in nonsense and I left about 30mins after that. Point is, yes it’s very possible to be at a party and bot be privy to the weird other shit. That usually goes down WAY after most guests have left.
