  • Upon gaining independence in 1966, Botswana was the third poorest country in the whole world. The country had only 22 graduates and 100 high school graduates. The majority of its population were herders and subsistence farmers.
    Five decades later, Botswana has a GDP per capita of over 18000 USD, which is more than the GDP per capita of Brazil and Argentina combined and more than 9 times the GDP per capita of Nigeria. The story of this miracle hinged upon the leadership of Sir Seretse Khama.
    In this episode, we will learn the life and legacy of this great African.

    What a selfless leader!
    Such attributes are lacking in the current crop of leaders we have.
    My favorite African leader has been Nelson Mandela but it seems I've found a new one in Khama.

    Seretse Khama is the most underrated African leader, and by extension Botswana too, I doubt if many Africans know so much about Botswana, this incredible story of successful transformation.

    Seretse Khama was an inspirational leader! His commitment to democracy and economic development is a true legacy. He played a key role in Botswana's history. There are many great African leaders, each with their own strengths. This video is a great starting point to learn more 🙃

    Well-done man for this gift to us.
    I've leaned towards Mandela all the while.
    Fortunately, there's a lot similarities in their story.
    Its good to learn of this name which you rarely meet even at random mentions.

    If there's an African country I am proud of, and if it's only one, it's certainly Botswana. If we had such a leader in DR Congo, we would be the richest country in Africa. Unfortunately, Lumumba was assassinated too early. Mobutu was a Kleptoman who destroyed the country. Those who came after him were even worst. The only thing I don't like is the presence of US base in Botswana.

    • @Lengdung
      @Lengdung  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
