    I can tell you, it works! Thankyou for sharing! All the birds I have now are rehomed pigeons :) some of them I did not even have to cut the feathers off.

    Solid advice there, Jack. If you’re not ok losing them don’t try to rehome them. Plain and simple. Nice technique

    i ve been using lime in my loft for years now and my birds are not bothered by it .only i dont spread it so thickly . love and best wishes from the uk .....ps i enjoyed the vid.

    I am curious to learn about BIRD FLU and how to know when and if a wild bird may be sick and how to protect myself from getting bird flu

      Well bird flu normally effects chicken and poultry but it can effect pigeon. But there is lots of different things that can effect pigeon that if around them you see different in there behavior they sit on their perch of fluffed up, not moving much is a good sign. They are not feeling well, but it could be a lot of things you can look up pigeon diseases, and you’ll see all the different kinds of things that could go wrong with pigeons besides bird flu

    When you tie them do you leave them out to fly or just let them inside the loft

      @@nicholasnamiluko4174 you need to have them at least 6 months before you would even try letting them out. But if you don’t want to lose any do not let them out.
      I do it because I have to many birds

    Everything looks great. Most of flyers in middle east rehome the birds like that. Some tie the wings with strings and after a week or two they open the string and let them fly. Thanks for sharing 😘😘😘

      @@burakloft568 they take piece of string and start with the first wing feather and tie them until 6or fifth wing and this way the bird can’t fly. There is a video an TH-cam showing it I will find it and share it so you could see it👍👍👍

      Es mejor solo en un ala para descompensar y es mas dificil que vuele.
      En Sevilla, España, los niños que empiezan la aficion lo hacen con las palomas que compran hasta que crian y reconocen los alrededores.

      I mean I got old birds from some one else and I had them for 6 months I was able to let them out at my house and they stayed there. But this after I clip there wings

    After putting the tape on and then letting them out on the roof when should I take the tape off to let them fly normally? Thank you. Have taped mine they have walked around the roof for 1 hour. Trying to rehome some old birds as a test for myself.

      When I put the tape on I cut there wings ends than waited 14 days. Than pulled the the wings I taped. But I still let them out so if take about 6 weeks for the new Flight feathers to go back in.. After they are all done growing back in they stayed around

      @@oconnorlofts7519 I lock my birds up for 3 months. So they know where they food and water come from. After I tape the wings I let them out. But I would leave tape on for about 6 to 8 weeks before removing the tape. Dose this answer your question?

      I not sure what you ask. This old birds that have flown at someone else home. If you doing older young birds it doesn’t take long for them to Lear your home.

    Some people use lime and others sand. You can use floor absorbent ( clay) but it tends to stay damp. Overall, the birds look great.

      The white stuff is not sand. It call barn lime. I was told after I made this video that barn lime is not good for pigeons. They said to use chalk.

    Questions do you close the box with the parents and the baby pigeon in side or do you let the parents come and go

    That will not work with a smart homer i know this first hand!! After breeding them i plucked their feathers let them walk the roof until their tips grew back and they still went back home nothing will stop good homers from returning to their original home.

    You should be wary using course or powdered dry lime. Lime burns the birds feet & the dust will go in their eyes. You should by hydrated lime powder & mix it with water to a running consistency and paint it on the surfaces(white wash it's called) & allow to dry.

      I want until they been at my home for at least three Months before you try this. I tape the wings and cut the tip of feathers wait 14 than pull the feathers. But after I tape the feather and cut the tips I will let them out to see there area. Dose this help?

    Just try soaping the flight fethers in soffend soap much more efective and no stress to the bird just dont bath it untill ready .from the uk .🖒🖒

      I mean is that someone else had birds that was flying at there house out side and I than taken them same birds to my house and got them to fly at my house after I let them out. But if you don’t want take chance to lose them don’t do it

      It called Barn lime. But I was told by few other people that not good for the birds. The recommend Chalk. It doesn’t hurt the birds

      Well fantall pigeons are just Fancy Pigeon. They never to go very far from the house. If you want something that flies a lot recommending homing pigeon’s.

    I have been feeding a little flick of aboyt 9 to 15 pidgeons who live at my building ( a 6 story high rise ) and have bonded wirh my lil flick I just adore their cooing and enjoy feeding them 2 xa day once in morning and theu all show up before bedtime for full bellys and now im moving 3 blocks away to a house and I want to know if theres any way to get them to come to my bew house where i wint get yelled at by the building manager here I statmrted feeding them less 9ftwn and less amounts to encourage them to stop coming to MY WINDOW and tried calling them from the ground and they know my face and voixe but are co ditioned to MY WINDOW so when i call em They go there and leave me below looking STUPID LOL i am looking for a way to help them find me 3 blocks over any ideas I dont want to race them I just love watching them and enjoy their company and dont want to abandon them right before winter THEY ARE FREE TO COME AND GO ALL THEY WANT i just want em to come 3 blocks away where i have a YARD Is it pissible to catch ONE and take it woth me keep it there a week and spil it rotten then let it go home and hope she ginds her way to my new house ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME

      @@paws4mercy643 yes if you can call them and they come to ground and you feed them there. It take some time but first start by calling them and feed them on ground and if they do that we’ll go about 100 yards from where feed them on the ground and next day go other 100 yards (1/2 block). Then call them keep doing this each day until you get to your new place. If they don’t come go back to where you last got them to come down to feed and start it all over again

      Well I have had few people tell me it not good for the birds to use barn lime. It could make them go blind. I seen people use chalk they said that is ok to use.

      That is great question. Other people might have a different ways but this. But this is what l have done in the past. I cut there food to 1/2 what normal would feed them for like 4 or 5 days and every time I feed them I make whistling sound Letting them know it’s feeding time and they get used to that So every day I try to feed them by hand. by the fifth day some of them will come and eat out of my hand. because they are hungry enough to not be so scared. If that don’t work try to cut their food back even more just until they get used to you then go back up to normal rations

    Let me put it to you this way, you come see my feral pigeons they fly with my local red tail hawks cause of what my dog did to save a pigeon from the red tail and then my dog had already saved a sparrow, then we saved a pigeon that was born on our balcony from a hawk attack.

      Yup thank you. I know they grow back. But after 14 days I pulled them and by the time they grown back they stayed at my house visit flying back to they old place.

      @@albsej yes it will but it much longer that way And they only drop one at time. If cut the wing tips wait 14 days and pull them they all grow out at the same time.

      Yes that way the feathers die and blood goes out of the feathers. If don’t wait just pull them it hurts the birds and sometimes they don’t grow back right.

    Ive cut 10 primary feathers from old pigeons then after the 3rd clutch of squeakers i pulled the cut feathers. When the feathers grew back they left my loft. If the pigeons are very valuable don"t let them out. Keep them in a big breeding cage.

    Excellent video Jack, Really apreciate your ideas on rehoming old birds. I have an unrelated question that watching this video made me think of. Can an old bird be trained for racing if it was never trained or flown as a young bird? I ask because I have a lot of breeders that grew up here but have never been out.

      Yes old bird can be trained to race. But I would take it slow. Like let them loft fly for month or 2. Than take out slowly. The birds that never flown that grown Up there. I would do the same thing like I did for re-homing old birds. Than you can train them slowly after they been flying for about 2 months. That is how I would do it.

    Are you kidding me? I have ferals and fancy ferals that end up here and never leave. Pigeons are homers period. Getting a pigeon rehome is like dropping it off on another planet for me. They just keep finding me, and drove off the parrot.
