Pretty incredible how well that lake fished this time of year. All those species right out of your front door! Very cool man. The 3 lb bass tho is a hog! Awesome that he got into one of that size on an inline spinner. Now he is forever hooked. My condolences to his bank account later in life on future fishing purchases :)
There are two publicly accessible spots on the lake. I was prepared to drive to them if there were no fish at the cabin, but we lucked out. It's always nice when the kids catch fish, otherwise the trip can go south fast!
Nice video! Deep Creek fishes really well in April. We turkey hunt up there that time of year, and sometimes my buddy will tow his boat along too. It is COLD though. Can't hardly stand running down the lake in the boat, and it's often too cold to put your hands in the bait bucket to get a minnow LOL. We just got back from a walleye trip last week. Did really well, even for June. The boat traffic is murder that time of year though. You can only fish from dawn until about 10 before you get run off the lake.
The weather was pretty fair when we visited, but two days before we arrived it snowed. I don't have any video of this but I fished the shore at night and using my flashlight I could see reflective wallEYEs cruising the shallows. It was cool to see the eyes chase after my jig! Very cool fish, and tasty. Bony mouths are hard to hook on ultralight gear. Cheers!
TwoPoundTest I went the last week in April, stayed at water edge. Pretty sure it’s right where you are fishing. Caught an 8 lb bass there and a bunch of pickerel
Glad you liked it. That was my only time at Deep Creek and my only time catching lake smallies, so I don't know their trends. I'd feel prepared packing spinnerbaits/inline spinners, tube jigs/jigheads, and flukes though. Good luck!
