    Wow, I just came across my Dremel and learned that the battery no longer holds a charge. Naturally, I thought about the feasibility of converting my cordless Dremel to corded and searched TH-cam and found your video. Thank you!

    Watched another video on this. I'm a details guy. Would have liked to see more of the process. With that being said, very well done! The final product is very versatile, love the battery option! It looks nice too. Thanks for sharing.

    Love the video. I would like to do the same however, I don’t know how to gauge milliamps. Like how do I know how much amperage & voltage mine can take? Where do I get the information from?

    I have the older Dremel 4.8v cordless model 754 rotary tool for years, when the NiCads died I just as easily switched to ordinary double “A” batteries. The battery pack is made in two separate parts, for this model, the base of the battery pack and the battery back cover, which easily snaps off with out breaking, I removed the NiCads, used thin copper stripping and placed the stripping on the cushion found inside the battery base, the copper stripping is to make contact with positive to negative of one side of the batteries which is the same orientation for the other side. What’s cool, is the positive and negative contacts on the battery comes the the battery cover holes, made for the NiCads, then the High/Low switch contacts make the connection making the model function better than the NiCads, and last a lot longer. I write the dates I I use fresh cells on the batteries, and I find Energizer Industrial brand, batteries in particular lasts more than a year. One time I found this dremel lasted a year and a half! 10 years ago I was gifted a Foredom hand tool and now only use the Dremel Model 754 exclusively for grooming my dogs nails. It’s still a little tough cookie, still strong as I use it regularly for the dogs.So, this is an awesome brand/model. Though, I’m trying to make this model corded, optionally without sacrificing any of its aesthetics, as it stands. I was wondering of machining black delrin, (which I have plenty, in stock) dimensionally accurate to the size of double “A’s” with metal tabs for positive and negative, this way the my Dremel 754 can go from corded or battery, with just an easy switch out. If anyone is interested in a video of my Dremel and how I changed it from rechargeable NiCads, to AA’s I’d be willing to make a video on it. Maybe we can try making it optionally corded? The following are products I mentioned in my comment, above:
    My particular Dremel 754:

    The current is definitely limiting your torque as seen by motor slowing down. I'd have mentioned the transform to DC when showing the Radio Shack supply so people don't think to wire directly. I appreciate the alternative to battery power, but it'd be cheaper and faster to just change the AA rechargeable cells with new rechargeable cells found everywhere. Fun project though.

    I am impressed with your out of the box thinking. I am the same way however I get confused bout which power supply is needed. thank you

      Yes, exactly my dilemma I don’t know how to gauge amperage/voltage needed 4 My specific application 🤷🏾‍♂️😩

    I was actually thinking of doing exactly that before stumbling on your video. Good to see that it works. Thx!

    How does the blue lock work? I tried to put the spring in but there is no pressure on the button. Nobody made a teardown on this particular dremel and all the other ones have a metal pin as the locking mechanism for the button.

    neat. I understood everything. pretty straight forward video. I bet the 9 volt battery runs down fast, but the wall wart probably works pretty well.

    I had the same problem with a Dremel tool it won't work with the household current. I'm using the USB f and cord frothed cell phone. I did what you did and switched out the on off switch and made a plug in for a 9 volt battery. The Dremel I'm working on is the black and decker wizard. All I can think of is trying to find a USB that is 3.7 v (That's what the Dremel runs off of.) Like the Dremel. Any hepi would appreciate. Thanks.

    I'm looking to do this to a dremel versa cleaning tool. If it runs on 4v what kind of ac adapter should I use?

    Just swap out the power supply to a laptop charger psu and at the drill side get a 2 pin panel mount socket to match and take batteries out off the battery case drill hole in bottom off the case and fit socket for laptop psu could even use a car battery as power source WoW think how many hours that would last :D job done also you could fit a reversing switch at the end of the case Might also add if done right you could still use a original Dremel battery.

    Try using a standard DC 12v converter, can pick it up at walmart for about $8, more power and therefore more torque. I did this myself a while ago and thought I'd see how you did, all in all pretty good but certainly could have done a little more and had better results, I may post my own video but I doubt it

    How do connect/determine the positive and negative? or does it not matter?

    • @stonewintjen505
      @stonewintjen505 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Le Nguyen Tran where you connect your positive determines the direction the motor turns. So it does matter but I can work either way.
