I first heard “Mystic Eyes” by Them with Van Morrison singing and playing harmonica. I thought the song was great. They were the only Irish band to get in on the British Invasion that started with the Beatles. It was only two or three years ago that I heard and saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ rendition and they turned it into a full-blown jam. Their audience was in musical heaven. I am glad that it’s been preserved for all time.
7 months later and he is not forgotten. Ditto your Blessings to his loved ones. One of the best live performances I have ever heard. Bodiddley (sorry sp) then blew Van Morrison out of the water. When I am pissed off I listen to this and feel: this was a good man and it is important to live up to his inspired music.

This performance of 'Mystic Eyes' is a cover of Van Morrisons band "Them". But I am sure that when they heard the Heartbreakers cover of it for the first time, Van said, "Damn...". This entire concert was possibly TP&THBs best. It was in 2015 and was his homecoming to Gainesville and he really performed for his homies. The performances of 'You Wreck Me'.
