The Babys may be one of the most misunderstood bands ever because they only had 2 radio hits in America and they were adult contemporary songs, Isn’t It Time and Every Time I Think Of You, but the Baby’s were a versatile heavy, dark, powerful, excellent rock band. Let’s say you enjoy the soft stuff, then check out a song like, You (Got It)…. Let’s say you prefer rock music, then check out the songs Run To Mexico, Head First, Give Me Your Love (studio versions always)
Just saw him (again) last week (July 2023) in NYC. He still got the voice, still got the moves. He did this with bass, guitars, and drums--no backup singers, no orchestra--and it still rocked the house.
I love you so much my dear John Waite you're absolutely fucking brilliant you were my first MTV crush my parents just finalized their divorce earlier in 84 unfortunately my Pops passed away 5 years ago this month Rest in peace 🕊️🕊️🙏🙏💔💔😢😭😘😇🇯🇲🇸🇭🇦🇩🏴🇨🇦🇮🇪🇬🇧⛈️🙏🇫🇮🇿🇦🇵🇷🇭🇲🕎🇮🇱🇺🇸🇫🇮⛈️😇 till we reunite once again unfortunately I suffered a major stroke last March if it weren't for my buddy Sharona I wouldn't have been here right now 😭😢🤗💕 unfortunately my Bestie and chosen sister aunt Susan hey sweetie how are you holding up her Dad passed away this past December and my uncle Mel who was my dad's brother passed away last November rest in peace guys til we reunite once again
I fell in LOVE with the Babys in the 8th grade, '79. I was listening to the Head First album just the other day as I washed dishes. They didn't actually write this song, but it's a great pop tune. Much of their other music is a bit more rockin'. Lead sing John Waite went on to more success in the 80's as a solo act, and then as the lead singer for the band, Bad English. He's one of my top 5 rock and roll singers. Just an amazing voice. He can go from velvet soft to rasp in a heartbeat.
John waite and the Babys are one of my favorites....what a shame that there music has been lost and not enough people know there catalog...just imagine if they would have stayed together...Jonathan Cain maybe never goes to Journey...who know what songs they would have created
John Waite is still performing and still sounds great. From the Baby’s ISN’T IT TIME , from his solo career MISSING YOU and super group Bad English When I See You Smile are my favorites 😊
John Waite is terrific! Just wondering if you recognized Jonathan Cain (Journey keyboard player) in that picture. He, along with other Journey members Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo went on to play in band Bad English with John Waite. You should check out some of their songs also. Thanks
Great British band from the late '70s and John Waite has a wonderful voice. What Anne Bertucci is wearing is mystifying as well to me, Harri. LOL. Thanks Robert and Harri.
Well this is my first time seeing anyone react to the Baby's and especially this song by John Waite which is one of the best vocalist ever in my opinion.
From 1978, this was from their third album, "Head First". It was a world wide hit and their last top 20 song in the US. A wonderful collaboration with John and the backup singers. His vocals are wonderful and so full of emotion. The instruments so catchy with beautiful strings and horns. Great reaction Harri, got you groovin. Thanks Harri and Robert. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
One of the very greatest voices of my generation! 'Give Me Your Love' has him singing more traditional heavy Blues (Led Zep-ish) and really gives a chance to hear the excellent guitar player and drummer this band had and it's one of their best! Great reaction. Waite's voice grabbed me instantly the first time I heard them (I think it was on American Band Stand?-or on radio), like hearing Brian May's guitar for the first time in 'Killer Queen. -Absolutely unique!
I never heard of this group or this song. This is amazing music and I don’t know how I missed it. My eyes and ears are wide open now. Thanks to Robert for this request. As always, Harri’s enthusiasm is very inspiring. 🌺✌️
Johnathon Cain, playing keyboards, left the Babys and replaced Ross Valory in Journey and is still with them today. Multi-talented. And what's crazy is John Waite worked with Neil Schon, guitarist for Journey, in Bad English, I believe.
I don't know which came first, this song or their other hit "Isn't It Time". But I'd swear I'm listening to the same song. Of course, I'm being a little sarcastic, but I figure they thought, "Hey, if it works once, we may as well make a couple of tweaks, change the lyrics, and put it out again." LOL But I do love this song, especially the ending when they start rocking out.
In this video it shows the Lead back-up singer as Anne Bertucci. On the original recording, which this is dubbed over to look live, the Lead back-up singer was Myrna Matthews, an African-American that did many backing vocals for other artists as well as TV and movies. Matthews and 3 others were known as the Babettes. Why they chose to use a White girl is a mystery.
This is a major fave for me and I learned something new. In the video they showed the band members and Johnathan Cain was in the band. He’s the keyboardist for Journey.
John Waite has a phenomenal voice and The Babys were I think an underrated group. Isn't it wonderful though, discovering music that has sort of been forgotten? Here's a contemporary group from Spain who I think you might find interesting. Broken Peach --- Tainted Love th-cam.com/video/Q45yicposyI/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BrokenPeach
The clothes the female singer wore even distracts me a bit, and I've seen this many times. She has a plastic red heart pin on her top. Little pins like that were common back then. She also has a stretchy top that women wore back in those days. That's when everyone was wearing workout clothes with tight pants and tops. It's crazy how her little red heart pin can be distracting at times. I thought it was just me, lol. But it's okay. Now you know what it is.
John Waite’s voice😍
Never understood why more reactors don't react to the Babys. Pretty damn good band
Another banger from them is ISN'T IT TIME!
Killer song. They don't make 'em like this any more!
Finally, someone is checking out the Baby's. Somehow, these guys are way overlooked.

With the Babys, Bad English, his solo work, and working with Ringo Starr's' All Star Band - Joh Waite has had a great career. Damn, he can sing.
Ringo has the best bands. Great concert 🙌

I've been a Babys fan but didn't know he was involved with the All Star Band. Cool. Quite the elite group of musicians.
Finally someone is reacting to the Baby’s ❤❤❤❤

Same here!!! Great 🎶 song
Isn’t it Time would also be a must from the same 70’s timeframe.
John waite and the Babys are one of my favorites....what a shame that there music has been lost and not enough people know there catalog...just imagine if they would have stayed together...Jonathan Cain maybe never goes to Journey...who know what songs they would have created
Isn't it time, is a great song.
My first concert was in 1978.The Baby’s,Pat Traverse,and Rush.Paid 8.50 a ticket.👍😄
John Waite is still performing and still sounds great. From the Baby’s ISN’T IT TIME , from his solo career MISSING YOU and super group Bad English When I See You Smile are my favorites 😊
And he worked with Allison Krauss, another pretty good singer.
Is that a button??? LOL.... Good song 🎶
John Waite is terrific! Just wondering if you recognized Jonathan Cain (Journey keyboard player) in that picture. He, along with other Journey members Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo went on to play in band Bad English with John Waite. You should check out some of their songs also. Thanks
Great idea!🎉
Their Bass player is playing for Styx now.
Great song. John Waite and the Baby’s are perfection!
Omg, a total banger!!
Great British band from the late '70s and John Waite has a wonderful voice. What Anne Bertucci is wearing is mystifying as well to me, Harri. LOL. Thanks Robert and Harri.
I want to thank you for your comment. I was trying to find out the name of that back-up singer. Both have amazing voices.
That thing on her top can be misconstrued..I had to do more than a double take, lol
Well this is my first time seeing anyone react to the Baby's and especially this song by John Waite which is one of the best vocalist ever in my opinion.
John and background singers are fantastic! Some really great brass at the end to close it out.
Beautiful song…….gotta love the 70’s❤
The baby’s were so underrated till this day thanks for reacting to it harry👍✌🏼
Hi Mr. Harri, Great song.. Mr. John did a Song on his own, called "Missing You", very good.. ♠W.G.
English pop meets motown High level pop music !
"Isn't it Time" is excellent, as well. Nice reaction.
I saw them live in the late 70's in Seattle. They were outstanding! They played at Hec Ed Pavilion along with UFO, and British Lyons.
Love love the Baby's ❤
Thank heaven! Finally!
I had all their albums. My favorite was "Union Jacks" which contained the absolute banger single "Back on My Feet Again"!
Union jacks and Jesus are you there
Waite always said he wanted a soul band so that could belt it out. Mission accomplished.
What a great song that was 👏👏👏👏

I love your reaction to this video that dude has an amazing voice
One of the most mellifluous songs ever recorded...
Such a great song from the lead singer to the ladies, singing back up the musicianship. Thanks for this.❤😂🎉❤😂🎉
Now you have to check out The Baby’s doing “Isn’t It Time”. Great tune!!
You will also like The Babys' Isn't it Time.
I never heard of this group or this song. This is amazing music and I don’t know how I missed it. My eyes and ears are wide open now. Thanks to Robert for this request. As always, Harri’s enthusiasm is very inspiring. 🌺✌️
Jonathan Cain of 'Journey' fame in the house there as well! 🤗
So underrated. Isn't It Time is another great song worthy of reviewing.
I haven't heard this in a long time. Great reaction. Thanks.
0:43 one of my favorite songs of all time
I remember when I first saw this, I think its from The Midnight Special I said out loud, John Waite is great but who is that red headed girl!!!!!!!!
I was able to see them in Detroit when they were promoting this album. They were playing before headliner Journey.
So underrated
Yeah, Jon Waite is a legend. He's right up there with Cat Stevens and Michael Stipe as incredibly emotional male rock singers.
Love ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ this group!

I like this song but my favorite is Back On My Feet Again. I saw John Waite during his solo career and he was touring with Scandal.
O goodness!!!!! Please check out their greatest hits!!!!!❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💯💯💯
John Waite is so underrated it's notfair
I never cared for John’s solo work, but I did enjoy The. Babys.
I don't know which came first, this song or their other hit "Isn't It Time". But I'd swear I'm listening to the same song. A real great pop classic! ❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶
If you really enjoyed that hit, you will love Isn't It Time by The Babys as well.
Isn't It Time is a great tune. The Babys were a great band.
Love the song ❤ Never heard of the band or the song 😊 Thank you Harri for a great reaction ❤❤❤
This is a major fave for me and I learned something new. In the video they showed the band members and Johnathan Cain was in the band. He’s the keyboardist for Journey.
Oh man.. PLEASE DO isnt it time..by the Babys
Nice post brother!
Maybe it was cold in the music hall. Probably a logo though, strategically placed. Lol.
Ignition is a great album, check out "Going to the top"
☮️❤️🔥🔥🔥🎵🎶🎵...😎
ok I just saw on another video.. that is a red Heart button on her shirt... not a high beam
Great vocalists and band but for some reason they never made it in there own country? The UK strange? I have no reason why ? Cheers glad you liked it

can you react to mother father by journey from the 1981 live concert in houston tx
I believe Patty Scilafa aka Mrs. Bruce Springsteen is the 2nd backup singer. Amazing band and song.
Great song brings back great memories
