@Cats4life333pedal your bs elsewhere. It looks like you could eat off of that floor. The other one looks neglected.
@Cats4life333Maybe your home looks like the other one and you cant tell the difference?
Is not bs I've drank in the basement I've been going for years. Lafayette is dirty and nasty they don't pull their weight and they're unsanitary I've seen it with my own two eyes. Grace goes out of her way to help them too.
Thank you for sharing, because I love American Coney Island. I was concerned that Lafayette's problem was impacting American Coney Island. I appreciate your integrity and boldly sharing this truth.
She's speaking from the heart to motivate a competitor to do better. Let that sink in...
This lady is awesome and I will go and buy a coney as soon as I can get down there. I admire her honesty and concern for her business, employees and customers alike. Good for you Grace, much respect.
Such a proud business owner, you make Detroit proud. If you’ve never been to American Coney Island you’re missing out. Give you much credit for dealing with these insulting questions.
She is correct, it hurts her business and the reputation and credibility of her business, a Detroit landmark.
They both are. Wish they would actually work together on this problem. She's speaking a good to do list .
I get her point, but I am not compelled by her presentation. I won't be buying hotdogs from her.
@Cats4life333 you might want to do some research just because she shares a wall with them doesn't mean she automatically has rats there's plenty of ways to keep them out and I'm sure and I'm sure the board of health has been over there and check her store out also and if she had rats or rat droppings anywhere they would have closed her store sounds like you got a grudge or something against her or you're taking misinformation and running with it I heard it on the internet so it must be true gtfoh
@Cats4life333 You can "guarantee" that yet posted zero evidence to back up your claim.
Ironic how they didn't find any at her restaurant and no photos of rat's in her restaurant.
Where's your evidence besides trust me bro.
They are right nest door, if you have ever been in both stores, please, miss me with that. Nasty, RAT invested
You can tell when someone is telling the truth and has had enough with the bulls***. She is 100%
My father's business was next to a Boston market. He said he never saw many rats until the Boston market moved in..
Right on defend your rep! Say it loud sista!!
I don't know how I got here, where this is or exactly what's going on but I get the basics. I applaud you for being so vocal and defending your business and families reputation. Much respect to you as a hard working business woman. Say it loud and say it proud!!!!! Salutes from Massachusetts!!! Will visit if ever in the area.
U can feel her passion abt this, she is very thorough. Her nails are fire 🔥 too
I'm from southern Indiana .never heard what's going on but this chic is one I would not mess with ..she takes pride in her business.
Good for her .
She's right about how controlling pests and running a sanitary business is a no brainer. It starts with a clean counter, sanitized food prep surfaces, garage pails emptied regularly, brooms and mops. When you get deliveries you get rid of the cardboard and plastic wrap immediately. You regularly rotate your stock and don't keep any on the shelf long enough for roaches to lay their eggs under the stock. You deep clean once a week. You do a deeper clean once a month. You plug the tiniest holes in the exterior walls and throughout the building. If you're adjoined to another food service business in the building, you monitor the adjoining wall even if there's a firewall. Once every couple of months you move everything away from that wall to closely inspect. You hire pest control (particularly exclusionary pest control if you're in the same building as other food service businesses). And you make sure to have your garbage hauled away more than once a week from the dumpster. You don't rely on city garbage collection. There's no reason for Lafayette Coney to be so dirty. I'd be worried about a corrupt connection with the health department letting them skate, even though they get shut down periodically when an inspector who's not on their payroll shows up. And yes the health department shows up unannounced a few times a year. You only get warning that they're coming if you have a corrupt connection. The whole idea of the inspections is to see how you operate day-to-day. Not how you operate when you clean for a visit.
Grace is wonderful. Tell them Grace. Your restaurant is clean.
Cleanliness is next to godliness
SHE SAID WHAT SHE SAID!!! I like her. That's right stand for something or fall for anything!!!!
As a downtown resident I never seen American coney ever have rats or roach problems..i told y'all they is way better than Lafayette coney island.lafayette always was dirty and nasty.
There's a video of a rat in American too lol
@@notUrRealDadSend a link
@@m42037 I'm not saying it's Keros fault I've definitely seen filth in Lafayette, but she can't act like it's never happened in her establishment ever. Rats are a fact of the city if you have filthy neighbors. Detroiters would lose it in New York if they saw those rats
@Cats4life333 a thick brick wall
@@notUrRealDad post it then
I remember her father and grandfather they were very nice men
Good for her! This is her livelihood, her business and reputation too. Also as she said her employees also are impacted by this. She spoke the truth and has to defend her business and families legacy. I pray things work out for her and that these issues will get resolved.
You can see the care in the workers behind her, the organization in the coolers, and her passion speaks volumes. Been there many times and always someone cleaning floor and wiping down tables.
She needs to run for office! This needs to be national news, the wisdom she speaks pertains just not to restaurants but to everyday life and every American. Personal responsibility is important.
😂😂😂😂
Ever since Lafayette been sold to investors (and before honestly) theyve let that building infrastructure continue to slide into the sidewalk. And for those that dont know Grace at American shes not always liie this- shes normally chill and very kind- she has a RIGHT to be this direct and vocal because shes got a buisness that she keeps thriving and is a proud owner.
She is wonderful.
I'm from downtown and she not lying.. Lafayette is very dirty..put it like this go use Lafayette coney island bathroom,I promise you won't be back 😂😂😂
Same, we will never go back to Lafayette 🌭 they completely snubbed us like we were peasants and I have lived here my entire life… American Coney Island, warm welcoming, nice atmosphere , delicious food and try their spinach pie! Delicious 😋
@@relentless3735 yes , they are racist ..it's against blacks only.and act like they want to rush you out they restaurant, making you feel very uncomfortable..
The real customers that have been going there 20 years knows its always clean in the restaurant
I am now an American Coney customer! no longer will I ever go to Lafayette! This woman is Great!
Tourists spots the both of these jokers
And she owns the other building that is rat infested on the opposite side of Lafayette.
🤦♂️
This lady ROCKS!!!
Lafayette Coney Island bathroom is in the basement. When I say I thought I was going to be trafficked. They should be ashamed. I don’t blame her for being upset. That could cost her business.
😂
You not lying only those who have used that bathroom know what you mean
Not funny but 🤣🤣🤣💀💀
I live just across the state line in Toledo Oh. I will be visiting American Coney Island soon for dinner.
Thank you for sharing this information.
I don’t know her name but after hearing this and actually patronizing both Coney Island’s as growing up in Detroit, I’ve visited her location more than Lafayette. I would like to give her a hug for standing up and being HONEST FOR HER BUSINESS!!! RESPECT 🫡 🙏🏾🖤🎤💯
Listen up this lady I have met personally she is a sweetheart and to see her this upset blows me!
Blows me😂😂😂😂
You guys are close u get fries with that
I worked for an Italian in Flint many years ago ...every square inch of the restaurant was cleaned every night.
We needed this press conference. Thank you, Ms.
If what’s she is saying is the situation she is not telling any lies. That isn’t fair to her as a business owner and I wouldn’t want to be associated with them either… shut the nasty Coney Island down
Should have been closed down I used to eat at both of them they were very nicely both of them ❤❤
They are not the Same. Different owners. She is such a cool person. Great Food, Great customer service, The entire staff is great. Very clean.
She is not telling the full if you are down there late at night it may have been a game. Four major event you'll see rats just because it's downtown Detroit in general and they love going where it is food food is at in general. I've seen her restaurant many times the countertops and tables are not the most cleanest that's why I don't eat at that restaurant and the Coney dogs is not anymore better. 🤪🤬👎🏼 I say if you got that much of an attitude go ahead and move out the city
Hi from Vegas. I go to Detroit yearly for family, and now I'm seriously considering switching teams here. She's a spitfire.
🔥👍🏽Thank you for clarifying
Detroit ninja 🥷 you a legend bro
I would NEVER relate or equate them as the same. I've been to both... Liked both!
When my Children were little we would come in and sit at the same table now there are grown but I still come there some time still sit at the same table to this day thank you Coney Island much love💯❤️
Guess what's in that "meat" on the hotdogs
I wonder if Charlie Leduff will have Grace on the no bullshit podcasts this Wednesday at 1pm
@@ICEPICK7882 I think Charlie worked at Lafayette Coney for a little bit so his family could have health insurance. There was a video about it with him cooking dogs in the kitchen.
I Don't blame her. In 2021 I dined in at Lafayette and saw roaches crawling on the counter. Sad part is they had a line wrapped around the building!! If I were their neighbors I would be pissed!
Good for her for speaking out.
The city of Detroit personified. Respect!
I agree with her 100%
Only dealt with Grace one time and she was polite, considerate and took care of anything we needed. Treated us to a beer and Coney when we were done. I believe her. American is the only Coney I've been to in Detroit.
Thanks for sharing. Very cool.
I hope that your situation is as you say and that things work out for you and your staff. I don't blame you for speaking so frankly and straight forward without any of the political correctness. Stand up 4 you and your staff Livelihood. Kick-ass.
Show us your clean basement .
The health department has seen it and she’s not shut down so…
She offered! ❤
Get off your lazy ass and go check it out. She said anybody is more than welcome to come down and take a look anytime they want. You can go record it and then post it and then get the attention you so desperately crave.
You must not have watched the whole video
I love this lady, you tell them sister 👏🏽
I think she did a great job of not bashing the other business. She was direct and cleared up any confusion. A company doing bad business has the potential to ruin the reputation of a company doing good business.
She told the truth and shamed the devil !!
I love how she has a go at Whitmer and Lafayette being her favorite. Mic drop. 😂
Gritmer just about deserves the same derision which newscum is now receiving!
I still haven't wore my limited edition Vans skate shoes featuring a star-spangled design and the restaurant’s logo with proceeds benefiting American Coney Island! They are super cool! I love American Coney Island 🌭 🇺🇸
Ohhh that's the most American & Detroit shit ever! I need a pair!
@@DetroitFettyghost They are so cute, ensconced forever 👟 Grace and her brother design them with Vans (TM)
@@DetroitFettyghost Have you watched Barstool Coney Island Rivalry - Lafayette vs American (Detroit, MI)? 🌭

People would be surprised at how many "staple or long-standing" restaurants in Detroit are beyond filthy. I often wonder how they pass their health inspections. Evie's Tamales is a place in Southwest that has been around for YEARS. It's a staple in Southwest but the kitchen is disgusting and if anyone knows, their restrooms are unsanitary. Again, they've been around for decades and I'm shocked they haven't been shut down.
The last time I went to Lafayette was in 2016. The roaches were bad. I canceled my order. My father was disappointed because Lafayette is a stable of downtown detroit. Much love to the lady for speaking up.
We used to go to Lafayette in the 60s, my dad was a regular. I tried to continue the tradition by taking our kids and I found a gob of hair in my loose burger. Don't even talk about the basement bathroom. Digusting. So we never have gone back.
Well said and absolutely true!
Rats eat through walls, floors anything to survive
Rats can chew through a lot and I still wouldn't take the chance American coney doesn't have them. They can get in the door when supplies is delivered.
Cook at home folks .🎉
I love her passion. Unfortunately, if rats are on that block, they are trying to figure out how to get into her establishment, too. She's fighting an uphill battle. However, I remember going to Lafayette once, and while I was waiting to order, I saw a rat run underneath one of the tables, so I left and went back to the casino. It made me not want to eat at either of the two restaurants ever again.
I disagree. I work for a pest control company and specifically do exclusion work. If she stays on top of things and has a good exclusion team she uses with her pest control, then it's really easy to make sure they stay out. I see it quite a bit with businesses sharing a lot. The ones who pay for the service don't have the rodents.
Your comment is kinda silly. Your in the city...any city has rats. It's what you do to discourage the rats from gaining access to your particular building. Lol I went back to the Casino...they have rats lurking there also. It's just pest controlled so you don't see them.
@patrickflynn9126 I exclude them from the building. I also take care of a couple of different businesses downtown. They don't have rats inside their buildings. Yeah, sometimes they will chew through, but it's taken care of in a few days. I'm not spraying and just laying bait. I'm closing holes on the ground level and on the roof. They also won't chew through my seals because I use excluder. But ok, I guess I don't know what I'm talking about even though I do it daily and work in downtown as well pretty frequently.
Girl make sure your restaurant is clean and the back doors are always closed.
I grew up in nyc where rats come in the size of dogs.
Thank God Detroit is cleaner than that!!!
Why is the media criticizing her business? She has tried to help them and they don't care about their cleanliness.
If your nextdoor neighbor has rats.....you have rats!! They don't know the property lines lady. Or maybe her voice keeps them away!
Point taken. The difference is if you know you have rats next door or in the same building just what lengths are you going to keep the problem at bay? She and her staff appears to be cleaning and keeping her business sanitary. Which is more than you can say for Lafayette. Last time I went to Lafayette it was so nasty I swore it was the “last” time.
When I worked at Wonder Bread on grand river, the rats burrowed under the parking lot and thrived prowling the neighborhood for existence..thousannds live under DETROIT..its a fact of life..people gamble there now
.best of luck..
This lady is great shes a firecracker and we would love to see her perfectly clean basement
Go get em Grace. Shes a proud owner , any owner with her pride takes care of problems.
Is it still a hole in the wall . Between the two businesses ? I never understood that.
Yes she will defined restaurant . but if rats are next door you cant say they don't come in her restaurant. ? BS
It depends on how the buildings are. I've worked for a pest control company for a few years now, and I do exclusion work. I've treated customers businesses where they are separated by a wall and the other business doesn't have the issues. So it's not really BS. If she does what she says than I could very easily seeing her not having an issue, especially if the buildings are separated well.
@@OwdeeTeeTeeshe for sure telling the truth
Nonsense
American coney island is going to continue to be associated with Lafayette coney island next door. Lafayette has the rat problem, but media frequently reports on the two at that corner downtown where they are located as if they are both operated by same owner. Hire a local PR business to walk around to sports events office workers, etc. give out food coupons, discounts, etc. to keep your business flowing. Just getting mad is not enough. Canvass downtown and Reach your customers and invite them to help get the right word out
rats don't stop at a wall bro; they in the whole building, not just on one side.
Eggs are $7...this is her problem to deal with....I have problems to...should I hold a press conference
@@TearlessGoslingget trained in pest control.
We love you Grace! I've been eating at American since I first moved to Detroit in 2011. She cares about the city she cares about people but Lafayette has been sub par has been dirty and slipping for a longtime. She has every right to be pissed I've seen what she's saying happen in real time they are sub par clean wise, and she doesn't deserve to deal with the bs American is clean friendly and professional and I consider some of their employees to be friends it's a family business and it's dope Thank you Grace G Red Charlie and the whole staff!
I bet she never shuts up when she gets home.
I bet her husband is a full blown alcoholic
All bet her husband shits his pants when she’s mad at him !
For clarity, can someone from Detroit verify that there are two restaurants called Coney Island? And they are right next to each other?
It's cold outside the rats gotta come somewhere. That whole area legendary for rats and it's nothing you can really do about it. It's food in there and it's warm and the rats will get creative and get inside somehow thru the ground go on top of the building anyway to get up in that restaurant. These are facts.
She is pissed. She is yelling, and she is very attractive.
Always liked American coney better than Lafayette. Now I know it was more than a “feeling” I had. Support this woman and her business! Detroit needs more business owners like her.
Thank you for speaking up.
My younger brother still talks about the best coney he ever had in his life when I took him there in the 80s.
It is the best ever I've been living in North Carolina 15 years and no places even close to that good I tried to replicate them as best as I can at home but nothing ever will come close to being as good as theirs.
I am proud of her for standing up for herself and her business. She is a pissed off mama bear and I hope that people realize how good everything is there
Oh,,,snap!!!
Been going to American Coney Island since I was a young lady, family and friend's too! Also, have ordered their coney island kits to send to IL, NV, and KC - my nephews, all Detroiter's, want them for football time! Great restaurant!!!
She’s absolutely right
O wow that’s what I read it was owned by the same family
And that's the issue.
This woman should be running General Motors.
The beef is still on
Beef? You better Google what's on top of that hot dog from those places lol
@ lmao I’m talking about between the two restaurants
One thing about Detroit, They need to stop writing tickets once and failing to come back to see if they made progress. That goes for blight, lazy people leaving dumpsters left at the curb all week
People just feel they can do anything. That needs to stop!
She's is awesome! Going to American Coney this weekend, from Algonac, to support her business.
I got to Lafayette once every 10 years to remind myself why American is the superior restaurant.
I haven't been to either in a decade, but I always preferred the taste of Lafayette. After watching this video, I will make it a point this week to make the one-hour trip to visit and support American Coney Island. Support Detroit restaurants and businesses. Without your support, they will close up shop.
Who's ever saying that must not be from Detroit because everybody from Detroit knows that American Coney Island is not connected with Lafayette Coney Island. I'll be down at American Coney Island this weekend
Only in Detroit, are we talking about hot dogs......
I love her! Stand on Business!!! I've always rocked with American over them other people.
She's pissed and I don't blame her
People clearly dont understand pest control services. If she pays for exclusion work and has an exclusion team that has integrity, she likely really doesn't have any rats. Of course its a constant battle but if she is on top of it I would say its believable she doesnt have rats. Maybe educate yourself or go see for yourself at her establishment before you go slamming her business and claiming shes lying.
I eat at American once a week. The owner usually rings me up. This is awesome. I will be back tomorrow!
That other restaurant needs to close! I like you. Everyone in a restaurant has their work to do to keep it running.
Start asking for receipts when people use restroom keep it locked
More business owners need to be like her. So many businesses were closed because of COVID.
Well glad I seen this. American Coney Island is my choice for Detroit Dogs. Who wants to eat at a dirty business? Rats at Layfette Coney Island, yikes. The rat pellets are the secret difference in the Coney chili! I'll take my Coney without the rat shi+ please.
Why is she yelling at me 😭 I don't even know what is going on 😭
Nah... you're just overly sensitive!... it's called being passionate about something...back in the day, it used to be pretty common, nowadays it's considered aggression...no wonder everything's going downhill... people have become WAY too soft and sensitive
Dang she’s pissed. Lafayette is my favorite, but I might have to start going to America after this.
Yes ma’am I’d love to pat MRS GRACE KEROS on the back she knows how to run a business yes yes!! I prefer AMERICAN CONEY always have
There's a reason the 'D' in Vegas selected American Coney Island over Lafayette to have in its establishment as representative of the Detroit Coney Island style experience. Chew on that for awhile.
Let us see your basement live … please
I've worked in food service 90% of the time we got a heads up for inspection
Detroit We stand up!!
