It’s funny that since I turned 50 I have exposed myself to more and more. Music, cultures, and languages. Listening to people who have open minds and adventurous spirits. You are one of them. Thanks again George❤
Checked them all out, Electric Callboy is my fave out of all of them! Thanks for going out of your way to encourage us to expand our listening. Please do these on the regular! Strombo's Bombos!
I'm always looking for new things to listen to. I crave it, I need it, and I've always been that way. Thanks for sharing these gems with us, George. You're the best!
George, you keep ending up in my demographic suggested list - been there since the 90s. You’ve been sharing rich new music ever since. Please keep doing this. Please keep adding the angry and heavy. Stay strong
Love the idea and video George, one friendly criticism is possibly slowing it down or making a list in the description of the songs. I've been spending 10 minute pausing beside my spotify trying to track down the names and artists of these tunes while swinging over to my spotify to check it out. Excited to give them a listen. Keep doing you!
There is definitely an unfilled space out there, at least on youtube, for new music recommendations. Everyone talks about or reacts to classics ad nauseum. While that's fine, no one is interested in trying new songs because they don't have 100 million views. I stopped listening to my local classic rock station because I wanted something new, but the newer rock station only plays "hits". I firmly believe tons of music is great without being #1 on a chart but there is so much music out there it's hard to find. Make this a regular bit and I'll subscribe. (Big Wreck anniversary release of Albatross in April, bonus track Fade Away, which has been bootleg on youtube for years but never released as Thornley or Big Wreck).
I just left Spotify a month ago, and built my own private music streaming service using all of the CDs I've ripped, and MP3s I've bought over the decades. The one big drawback with this is that my library is obviously stagnant. If I want anything new, I must manually add things myself. So a video like this is great for me! I also have an open to all genres policy myself.
Thanks George! Do you still try and cure insomnia with some Panthera? 😁 These days, I try to dig into some old Canadian rock and New Wave of the 80's... Men Without Hats' Nationale 7 is definitely underappreciated.
I hear you… I’m getting old and it’s real work to find new music that’s worth listening to. There’s so much out there. But I’m lazy! Has anyone compiled these recommendations into a single playlist??
This is so cool. Haha, i love the genre spread you have. is there a way to submit our own music? Itd be a dream to have an opportunity to be featured in some form.
I find I tend to go through cycles where like every six years ('08. '14, '20, hopefully '26) I do a deep dive and add a whole bunch of new/current artists to my listening roster. Reading John Seabrook's "The Song Machine: Inside the Hit Factory" gave me more of an appreciation for pop music and I find the challenge with that type of music (and heavily cliche genres like contemporary country) is to find those artists and music that is grounded in "three chords and the truth" and is meerly adopting the pop format in order to make that music accessible (I found the most subversive hard hitting artists in contemporary country recently are queer/LGBTQ+) rather than simply making catchy music to get the most airplay/streams/sales. In other words, because pop music gets such a bad rap (rightfully in many cases) because of the commericalism, I do think there is such a thing as "good pop" music but it often takes a bit of effort to look for.
I love finding new music! While these aren't all for me, I still want to say thanks for the recommendations! @@TheStromboShow What happened to your boyfriend Justin Trudeau? I told you on your previous podcast he was a clown and over with, even i did not predict he would do like the pope and quit....lol... u and Tom Green should bring the “Sweathogs” back together and start a band.

Keep sharing more groups for a playlist. Great to see some recommendations of some Canadian groups.

Hey George, I participated in your Operation Disc Drop 20+ years ago. The fun of TV before much social media. I left my mix at a payphone.
Thanks for this George! What a great time we live in where new music I would never had listened to is shared with a click. Cheers!
It's so wild. I love it.

Great reco's inertiaopolis.. some I've heard, some not. What we've truly unwrapped here is a top-notch idea for a monthly video series.

Thanks Strombo! Would it be feasible to link to a "Strombo Recommends" playlist?
Gonna be a pain here but any chance you could add the list to the description too? Would be super helpful ❤❤
You should listen Chatpile - Cool World
Links to the artists would have been cool...

What happens if you find a song you want for a scene, but the artist does not want to allow it?
Can someone lay this playlist out !
is there a link to any of these artists?
And DJT thinks there’s only two genres.
