Hi Shiba ! I’m staying at Tokyu hotel at Kyoto. What is the best transportation and how many ticket to buy for Arashiyama Bamboo and Uji (Matcha) for one day ? Should I go Uji first or Arashiyama ? And any places on the same route you recommend me to see, buy and eat ? Thank you very much !
Hi! To visit Arashiyama and Uji, the JR line is convenient. Your hotel provides bus services between the hotel and Kyoto Station, does it? After arriving at Kyoto Station, it is necessary to purchase tickets at reast 3 times; Kyoto Station to Saga-Arashiyama Station (240 JPY) Saga-Arashiyama Station to Uji Station (510 JPY) Uji Station to Kyoto Station (240 JPY) I think that to visit Arashiyama first is better since Arashiyama is so popular that it attracts a number of people. Visiting Arashiyama early in the morning may help you avoid the crowds. Uji is not so crowded as Arashiyama. If you have any further questions, do feel free to comment again.😄
Hi Shiba, I will be in Japan on my own for 8 days after a cruise. I will be spending 4 days in Kyoto and 4 Days in Tokyo. I will travel between Kyoto and Tokyo by Limon bus. Do you suggest that I buy the JR pass oversea ? JR pass can be very expensive.
Hi! If you were planning to move between Kyoto and Tokyo by Shinkansen, it would be worth to get JR Japan Rail Pass. It covers the cost of the round trip between the two cities. However, as far as I see your plan, you might want not to purchase JR Pass as you need to use JR in the urban areas only. Instead it is good to buy an IC card such as ICOCA, Suica or Pasmo. In addition, you can get various kinds of free ride tickets. See the links for details. KANSAI (Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Wakayama, Kobe and so on) www.surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html (Recommended!) www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/ (A little expensive) TOKYO greater-tokyo-pass.jp/ www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/pass/tokyowidepass.html If you have any other questions, do feel free to comment again.😊
I am having difficulty deciding whether to get a JR pass for my trip in 2 weeks time. I will be traveling from Narita airport to Tokyo for 2 days and will spend 5 more days in Kyoto/ Osaka/ Nara/ Uji and back to Tokyo/ Narita. I am concerned about the cost and time I have to spend in the JR office. Should I get a Suica card instead? Please advise. Thanks
Hello. Thank you for your question. As far as I see your itinerary, I don't think the Japan Rail Pass is a good value. The Shinkansen fare between Tokyo and Shin-osaka is 27,740 JPY (round trip) and travelling around the Kansai area does not cost so much. For example, the JR fare between Osaka Station and Kyoto Station is 580 JPY (single trip). Suica is good for your trip as you can use it not only for the JR line but also other private railway company lines such as Keihan, Hankyu, Kintetsu, Nankai and Hanshin. If you have any other questions, do feel free to comment again.😊
@@Shiba-Shiba_TrainsInJapan Thank you for applying me. Yes I will go to Osaka in Feb 4th, I'm looking for the way to Uji from Namba station. My hotel is near Shinsaibashi station and I have a 3days kaisai thru pass.
Hi Shiba, thanks for answering my question in Osaka, I’m so grateful for your videos, really helpful and for always answering. I love your accent, your English is perfect. My question… 1. If I use icoca on San-in line from saga Arashiyama to Inari, do I have to touch out at Kyoto Station and then touch in again in same station to get on Nara line or do I pass a transfer gate? 2. How about from Inari to Gion shijo from Nara line to keikan mainline? Do I touch in and out or is there a transfer gate? 3. Do you do only this region? I’m going to Fuji area as well and wondering if you have any videos of it. I wish I have more than a week to see Japan, but it’s always a good reason to return. 😊
Hi. Thank you for your comment. It motivated me a lot.😃 1. It is not necessary to go through the ticket gate at Kyoto station as both San-in and Nara lines are operated by JR West. 2. There's no transfer gate at JR Inari station since Keihan Fushimi-inari station is a little far apart. 3. Although I sometimes travel for a long distance, for example I visited Kagoshima, Hiroshima and Kanazawa this year, I mainly make videos for travelers who comes to Osaka because I live in the southern part of Osaka and I know much about Osaka.

How do you know which ticket fare to select when you select 240? And if i have the JR pass when taking a JR train, do i also need to get an extra ticket, or do i just use my JR ticket?
Hi! There is a fare table above the ticket bending machine at 15:42. Passengers who have JR JAPAN RAIL PASS don't need to purchase extra tickets and go through the ticket gate by using JAPAN RAIL PASS only. Hello Shiba on the last part of your video where is the Starbucks located? From your 3 destination
Hi! The Starbucks is in the vicinity of Byodoin in Uji. See the link below for details.

Hi! To visit Arashiyama and Uji, the JR line is convenient. Your hotel provides bus services between the hotel and Kyoto Station, does it? After arriving at Kyoto Station, it is necessary to purchase tickets at reast 3 times;
Kyoto Station to Saga-Arashiyama Station (240 JPY)
Saga-Arashiyama Station to Uji Station (510 JPY)
Uji Station to Kyoto Station (240 JPY)
I think that to visit Arashiyama first is better since Arashiyama is so popular that it attracts a number of people. Visiting Arashiyama early in the morning may help you avoid the crowds. Uji is not so crowded as Arashiyama.

KANSAI (Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Wakayama, Kobe and so on)
www.surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html (Recommended!)
www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/ (A little expensive)

Shiba Shiba san please do the video how to go to Uji from namba station, by local train. 🙏 thank you 🇹🇭🇯🇵
Hi! OK. I will. But please be patient. Do you have any plans to visit Japan?☺
@@Shiba-Shiba_TrainsInJapan Thank you for applying me. Yes I will go to Osaka in Feb 4th, I'm looking for the way to Uji from Namba station. My hotel is near Shinsaibashi station and I have a 3days kaisai thru pass.
OK. I will try my best to be uploaded at the end of January.😊
Hi Shiba, thanks for answering my question in Osaka, I’m so grateful for your videos, really helpful and for always answering. I love your accent, your English is perfect. My question…
It motivated me a lot.😃
Hi Shiba shiba, limited express doesn't stop on Omiya station? because my Airbnb close to this station.

1) Shall I get the *JR 1day pass* (1,100 yen) for ALL these places? Can this ticket be bought at any Kyoto metro station?
2) I hope can visit Nishiki Market during lunch hour to enjoy the food there.
3) Can you please help to advice the following places around & importantly station to travel to each point.
Places to visit :
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Kinkaku-ji
Nishiki Market
Fushimi-Inari
Kiyomizu-dera
Uji (optional if got time)
Hi! Thank you for the comment.
1) I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the "JR 1day pass (1,100 yen)." If you know the website about it, provide me the link.
2) Take the Keihan line to Gion-shijo Station and 10-minute walk takes you to Nishiki market.

3) Currently I'm making a video to travel those places in 1 day, so please look forward to it. However, I won't visit Kinkakuji because video shooting is prohibited there. (Taking photos is allowed.)

Hello Shiba-Shiba, after arriving at Katsura Station on the Hankyu Limited Express, do you stay at the same platform & wait for the semi-express train Kyoto-Kawaramachi towards Omiya Station? I watched replayed this video many times & i saw you are on the same platform & then go on to ride the semi-express train.
However, if you would like to take limited express train or Shinkansen, you mingt want to visit manned gate at the station since you need to reserve seats. Your trip started from what time to what time? Is it very tight schedule? Are you a Kyoto local?

I love your videos so much since you also highlight the directions to and from the train platforms! Since Japan’s train stations are big, it’s easy to get lost so your videos are very helpful!
May I ask? I also want to follow the same itinerary but I’m nearer Shin-Imamiya Station. Ebisucho Station and Dobutsuenmae Station are also walking distance for me. Is it possible to start from any of these stations and follow the same itinerary? Thank you so much!!
