I dig the vocal thing Avienne does a few times in this song where her harsh vocal "cracks" and a semi-clean yell comes through. I have no idea what the technical term for this is, but I have heard some other vocalists do this. The vocalist in Uada is the first one that comes to mind.
Yeah, that was a fun new technique to explore! Jake from UADA does it very well, and it is somewhat inspired by Joe from Gojira as well. Avienne put a lot of hard work into making it sound how it does, and we are glad it comes across!
I noticed that right away as well, you can tell Avienne and the rest of the band have been improving their skills. I didn't realize it was inspired by Joe from Gojira, but now I totally hear the similarities. It's similar to his more recent vocal style, from Magma and Fortitude era Gojira.
Hey Patrick, do you like Thrash metal? There's an amazing French Progressive Thrash Metal band called Arcania, I describe them as "If Gojira made Thrash Metal". Arcania has 2 albums called "Dreams Are Dead" and "Sweet Angel Dust", both albums are bangers from start to finish. I highly recommend checking them out if that sounds appealing to you, enjoy my friend! 🤘🤘🤙🤙
I was looking for a third (female) metal singer with a deep, rough and powerful voice to add to my top 3 with Angela and Alissa and then I found you! I'm really impressed, especially with your growls because they're really deep and not feminine like Tati from Jinjer, which is awesome.
Awesome band! Those amazing vocals and guitar riffs just kill everything alive. It's a shame that such a great band has so few views. They definitely deserve more.
I saw Vintersea in PDX front row. It was an experience I'll never forget. There are no words to describe the power of the vocals. See them live if you get the chance. Sounds even better live! Badass band.
