I'm refusing to buy Veilguard on principle because of the jarring direction the developers decided to go with the series. I wanted a Dark Fantasy Adventure game and I got purple socially sensitive clusterfuck. Not only is it a downgrade from Origins and can't hope to compare to Baldur's Gate 3, but I find myself finding it inferior to INQUISITION in key categories as well. If they can't even keep up with a game that was made by the SAME company 10 years ago then I'd rather see nothing else from them at all

Origins was a masterpiece and when BioWare deviated from the formula and decided to create something more linear with less player choices and low replay value with Dragon Age 2, we spoke up and reminded them that we don’t want that. At least it kept consistent with the lore and still had a compelling story even though it missed the mark on many other things. It appeared to have worked when we got Dragon Age: Inquisition. We had a vast open world, 4 playable races, a nice balance of tactical and in your face combat, meaningful decisions, and Dragon Age Keep to import world states that sadly resulted in more text based cameos but nonetheless still nice to be recognized. Yes there were frequent bugs and the repetitive fetch quests for every area was annoying but overall, a huge improvement and several steps in the right direction. There’s zero excuse for Veilguard. It’s like they gutted everything from Inquisition except it’s art style. I don’t believe anyone who worked on that game in it’s finished state had ever worked on any of the previous entries and only watched cutscenes on TH-cam. We were justified in our criticism before and we received a better game because of it. I’m not sure if this will work this time because these lead “writers” in charge now have no accountability and no creative integrity to listen instead of gaslighting and blaming everyone else for their own failure. The future of this series is not looking promising.

I’m hoping for Rogue Hawke because it makes it so the Hawke siblings are a Warrior, Rogue and Mage, you start the plot doing criminal and criminal-adjacent tasks to earn money (after spending an entire year as either a smuggler or a shady mercenary) and it lets you actually use bows without having to bring the walking disaster that is Sebastian. Plus, if you go Elf in Inquisition, you have Dwarf Warrior, Human Rogue and Elf Mage which is a nice balance of the 3 original races. Heck, a Qunari Warrior in Veilguard completes the set with a Warrior spare because Warriors are GOATed.
I'm glad. Been watching your content from the start, and I tried to give the Failguard episodes a chance, but I just can't bring myself to watch. Even the boys can't make that experience tolerable. I'll absolutely be there for Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition, though.
Veilguard could easily be removed from the canon if you quit right after the party in inquisition, if you don't play trespasser, if you acknowledge that Solas is a weird apostate hobo, if you acknowledge that while Flemeth is Mythal, she was Mythal for atleast 500 years and did nothing to shake the foundations of the earth and acknowledge that Coreypheus is the biggest baddie.
If you decide to play another series, how about Baldurs Gate? I know the older ones haven't aged well, but it is a good series if you ignore the graphics.

I can look past all the “woke” stuff but this game does something that genuinely pisses me off. ALL THE GODDAMN RETCONS ..and they aren’t even subtle about it. If this was a self contained story that didn’t quite impact the entirety of the world state going forward (like Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect Andromeda) I could be so much more forgiving. But they decided to take a giant shit on the lore and the player choices from the previous entries which was supposed to be Dragon Age’s strength and it’s selling point. Without any spoilers, let’s just say everything from the previous games no longer matters and all your choices are ignored and will never be focused on ever again. Veilguard is now the first game in the series and the others are all non-canon fever dreams. Rook is essentially the Dragon Age equivalent of Ryder from Mass Effect and is incapable of being rude or making evil choices. I’m not gonna hate or belittle anyone who enjoys this game but as a long time fan I have to ask, what redeeming quality did this game give you to overlook these disastrous flaws?

It seems the boys are only temporarily on pause with veilguard. They just wanna play the rest of the franchise in chronological order, with origins done it makes to move on to 2. After doing a few playthrough in my own free time, veilguard is still pretty good and fun to play yes there are things I don't like, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying myself. And I love to see the boys return to properly do the game again in the future

Not really. Dead space is a remake that improves in almost every way. A game that is already universally considered a great one. It is absolutely what you can say is a known quantity. Veilguard was new and essentially completely unknown and if we're being honest, the annoying parts constitute maybe about 2 or 3% of the overall game. The opinions on quality overall are essentially subjective. Dead space remake selling more than veilguard actually highlights a problem in the industry is that nobody takes chances on shit anymore and everyone says they want something new but then when something new comes along they shit on it anyway and just go ahead and play the 15th remaster of Skyrim.
Bro play some 4 party RPGs, another channel did a FFI playthrough and that stuff was absolute fire. You could do Icewind Dale II, so every pres could have a character and add a different dynamic to the dialogue. That’s a lot of work, but it definitely works to elevate the banter.
Gave Veilguard a chance, hell I Platinumed the thing and honestly you are not missing much. As for DA2 and Inquisition Classes, my big issue with both games is how the story is tailored to you playing a mage, it's kind of annoying honestly, as I don't like to be forced to play a class just for the story to make more sense. However, I can't deny that in DA2 Rogue is incredibly fun (except the ninja flips that dagger rogues constantly do, those are kind of funny honestly, like the enemy is slightly out of range, move to the enemy normally, nah man NINJA TIME XD) and I can't deny, the idea of Dominant Donald having to play an Elf Mage in Inquisition is too good to pass up. Something I would like to add, consider Female Hawk for the playthrough. I know that Male Hawk is iconic, but I just recently did a D2 run and picked Female Hawk just check her out and she's not bad at all, especially with the sarcastic and funny choices. So yea, give Fem Hawk a chance, it even makes sense in Lore as this is Sleepy's favorite game and something tells me he is not opposed to playing female characters. Oh yea, loved your Origins Videos, made me want to replay the old Dragon Age games and this is me commenting for the first time xD
Regarding veilguard, it's pretty messed up that our save files are worthless. People have perfected their saves and created a bunch of different files for over a decade, hoping to one day experience the payoff that never came. DA2 is a flawed game due to the development issues, but I'm excited about this.
Understandable, I like veilguard well enough, but honestly I don’t like the combat much, I don’t like the marvel games so not to happy about its combat style in dragon age. To the point when I put it down to play echos of wisdom I could not bring myself to pick it back up. Looking forward to da2 though will likely play along with you guys!

Yeah the older titles should be a good playthrough, ease back into veilguard that way. Also when you ever finish the series, might i suggest Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous since i imagine all three boys will have different playthroughs for each, and as for the main one i wanna see what they will make and whst romance and path they will do.
Adding some mods to Dragon Age 2 is a must will the DLC items in Origins were hit and miss and being overpowered the amount you get in the side room and gamblin's house is beyond ridiculous.

Veilguard might have done better and been more accepted if maybe EA had it be it's own new franchise instead of adding it to the Dragon Age series. These days though that is rare to see since companies never want to gamble on new IPs and rather just slap old franchise names on to everything and never take gambles. Veilguard never felt like Dragon age to me truly, maybe the writers even felt forced and limited by the Dragon Age title and would have preferred to make a whole new world instead? Regarding veilguard, it's pretty messed up that our save files are worthless. People have perfected their saves and created a bunch of different files for over a decade, hoping to one day experience the payoff that never came.
DA2 is a flawed game due to the development issues, but I'm excited about this.

Understandable, I like veilguard well enough, but honestly I don’t like the combat much, I don’t like the marvel games so not to happy about its combat style in dragon age.
To the point when I put it down to play echos of wisdom I could not bring myself to pick it back up. Looking forward to da2 though will likely play along with you guys!
Sometimes you have to pick your battles. I liked your content either way. Including the veilguard stuff. It's a shame we won't find out more about the veilguard lore as butchered as it is.

Yeah the older titles should be a good playthrough, ease back into veilguard that way. Also when you ever finish the series, might i suggest Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous since i imagine all three boys will have different playthroughs for each, and as for the main one i wanna see what they will make and whst romance and path they will do.
Adding some mods to Dragon Age 2 is a must will the DLC items in Origins were hit and miss and being overpowered the amount you get in the side room and gamblin's house is beyond ridiculous.

I enjoyed the game, but i can understand when you're such a dedicated fan of the series.
I actually think the game would have been great if it was made as an original IP. feels a bit like movie remakes that have next to nothing in common with the original but the title and some names
Veilguard might have done better and been more accepted if maybe EA had it be it's own new franchise instead of adding it to the Dragon Age series. These days though that is rare to see since companies never want to gamble on new IPs and rather just slap old franchise names on to everything and never take gambles. Veilguard never felt like Dragon age to me truly, maybe the writers even felt forced and limited by the Dragon Age title and would have preferred to make a whole new world instead?
Anyway I don't really care what game is being played as long as we get the comedy from the three presidents or anyone else you add to the series, even yourself I will keep watching the hilarity.

Honestly figured you were faking hype for it because your writing shows you love the series so I can’t blame you for backing away from it if it’s not fun or not something you don’t want to make. Especially when 2 or inquisition have much better content to use.
Wasn’t faking hype tbh I enjoyed making content on release but got burnt out and since the videos take so long to make I’d rather make videos that more people want to see

When u play mass effect 2 it is so visible that they tried to do something similar with veilguard, but me2 is amazing in bringing youe choices from the first game ans has great quest quality and MC personality. It is such a weak attempt to copy its structure to dragon age

It’s a shame that Veilguard is going on hiatus. However, I do think it is the right move and I say that as someone that enjoyed Veilguard despite its flaws. And I absolutely do get why it has such a strong negative reaction, I support people with those views.
Going from origins to DA2 will feel more organic and I get to see my boy Fenris! ❤️

Mage Hawke is my vote since i think it fits yhe story better than rogue.
Even Sleepy Joe couldn't take how trash Veilguard is, why am I not surprised? Sweet Baby inc and their ilk took over Bioware and made an abomination of the Dragon Age IP. I don't believe there are any legitimate fans of Veilguard, even the most die hard Dragon Age fan has to draw the line at the complete shitshow that is Veilguard's writing. I can't wait to see the boys play DA2, I can watch another good series aside from rewatching the Origins and Awakening saga.
