  • In our third installment we look at some really rare Mauser and Krieghoff Lugers from the Saltsman Collection. We start with a DWM Fat Barrel American Eagle Luger - one of only 250 made. Then we examine some WW2 era Krieghoffs including one from 1936 with 2 matching magazines! Among the Mauser Lugers shown we have a great example of a K Date Luger and then a G Date Navy Luger. We finish up with a nice Black Widow Luger and a nice Police Luger rig from 1942

Quite interesting to know that Robert Saltsman started his collection after watching Tom’s Legacy videos and here we are years later enjoying Legacy videos about fascinating examples from his collection. Full circle.

Tom, I was told by an old German gunmaker that the Krieghoff “thumbprint” is a localised heat treatment mark which toughens up the area where the toggle stops under recoil.

Love the educational videos. These guns are so interesting and beautiful. These lugers make Glocks look like they are made by Mattel.

I am surprised Tom is not Auctioning off certain firearms vs a drawing especially with so much interest

There has never been a more perfect use for the word technically they were all war time guns. In reality Lugers from 1908 were used during ww1&ww2. Any German firearm made from 1900 through the 50’s are war time firearms. You know better than I do. I just have family members that fought in ww2. Or at least I did. My mother’s uncle passed away in 2000. Born in 1920. Landed in Normandy D-Day plus 3.
