Between the college admittance scandal and celebrities bitching about having to quarantine in their giant mansions this really exemplifies how many people are feeling about celebrities at the moment.

Yes, currently on spree listening to MCR, Evanescence, Good Charlotte, and other bands of the era and wondering what even happened to this music too :/
Ain't that the truth! In 34 years of living on this planet, I've always lived paycheck to paycheck! Let's see what would happen to our celebrities if they had to live paycheck to paycheck!

I can't bare to read these comments about this song. That Good Charlotte wrote this and then now they are rich and famous 'the irony'. The truth is they wrote this before they were 'rich and famous', also it's not about saying that the rich and famous are bad people it's how some celebrities still moan when they have a 'perfect' lifestyle. So Good Charlotte were trying to say 'if you don't like your life, we would have it'. Hope that makes everybody stop arguing on this video:)

It doesn't matter if they "became the people in the song" or not, you guys have missed the point. The whole philosophy of GC is to be rebellious and ironic, to break the pattern - they're talking about the social aspect of the rich and famous lifestyle, not the fact that these people have money. It's all about challenging the perceived 'Hollywood lifestyle' and what's considered acceptable in the eyes of society - these guys were rejected at school and probably told they'd never make it in the music industry, with this song they're saying "we can look and act like this and be rich and famous too". I believe the 'trial' in the video is supposed to represent them fighting society's perception of 'success', and the "I think we should rob them" lyric means robbing them of their name and changing the perception of the 'rich & famous' lifestyle. Even now that Joel and Benji are 'rich and famous' household names they still do whatever they want and don't care what people think, and that's the whole point.
they were a pop band selling an image, and "attitude'' and a look you could buy at hot topics, then sears... then walmart. they spoke to kids who were easy pray for that type of bullshit. christian almli You're looking at this as if it's a blanket term. They are referring to only two types of rich people: those who are born into wealth and have no appreciation for the work that most have to put in to get a fraction of what the wealthy have, much like Paris Hilton, and those who gain riches and forget where it is they came from, similar to the song titled "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" by The Offspring.
Khalid Bell "those who are born into wealth and have no appreciation for the work that most have to put in to get a fraction of what the wealthy have, much like Paris Hilton" Or Nichole Richie. Actually, it doesn't matter which, they dated both of them rofl.

Always see it on TV
Or read it in the magazines
Celebrities want sympathy
All they do is piss and moan
Inside the Rolling Stone
Talkin' about how hard life can be
I'd like to see them spend a week
Livin' life out on the street
I don't think they would survive
If they could spend a day or two
Walkin' in someone else's shoes
I think they'd stumble and they'd fall
They would fall (fall)
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They're always complainin'
Always complainin'
If money is such a problem
Well, they got mansions
Think we should rob them
Well, did you know when you were famous you could kill your wife
And there's no such thing as 25 to life
As long as you've got the cash to pay for Cochran
And did you know if you were caught and you were smokin' crack
McDonald's wouldn't even wanna take you back
You could always just run for mayor of D.C.
I'd like to see them spend a week
Livin' life out on the street
I don't think they would survive
If they could spend a day or two
Walking in someone else's shoes
I think they'd stumble and they'd fall
They would fall
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They're always complainin'
Always complainin'
If money is such a problem
Well, they got mansions
Think we should rob them (rob them)
They would fall
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They're always complainin'
Always complainin'
If money is such a problem
You got so many problems
Think I could solve them
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
We'll take your clothes, cash, cars and homes, just stop complainin'
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
Lifestyles of the rich and famous.
