    The poem that your student wrote about her love experiences is really beautiful. Very touching.

    This has provided me with a whole host of demonstrable examples for my teacher training programme on grammar. I'm very grateful for your sharing.

    Hi Jo, I watched this video as part of my online TEFL course and have loved it. Great ideas of making language learning more interesting - I wish I'd been taught using these methods. Thank you.

    Very inspiring....I should have seen those creative examples some two or three years ago so that I wouldn't be down founded in tr ying to make my students understand about tenses and when to use them, as it may be logic why learning grammar is often considered to be boring and complicated. Thanks for sharing those useful ideas.

    Dear Jo,
    Your videos are really catching on :-)
    When I did my CELTA in the Hague, the Netherlands a few years back, we had to watch some of your videos including this one. Now I am doing my Master's in TESOL in the United States several years later, and I have to watch some of them again as part of my assignments!
    ;-)
    Take care, Julian

      J van Hello, my friend ! I would like to give u m'y way of presenting grammar lessons and i would be so thankful if u givee me ur feedback . NB i use thé inductive méthode
      Well , 1st i interact with m'y kids through questions in a context (communicatively ) ,then i write 3_4 sentences on thé board which thé target language is mentioned then ask them to repeat chorly .NB i write all the sentences with one colour , i.e i dont write the target lge with diferent colour , then i move directely to thé tasks i ask them to do tasks 1st one :task based form and 2nd one : meaning based form. Then , i ask them to state thé rule by themeselves after doing thé tasks by themselves of course then i ask them to write sentences communicative task this is thé last one . this is a ppu méthode what do y think?

    'will' always IMPLIES a conditional (even without 'if' clause). 'shall' by contrast combines "should" and "will" - this is the beauty in modality. Never mind what's "common"; we need understand (at least as teachers) what the subtleties are.

    • @Insider_English
      @Insider_English 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unless a student uses 'you' shall (legalese), I shouldn't worry about changing or limiting expression.

    I'll admit I'm not a huge poetry guy, but the example you shared was fantastic. I will have to challenge myself soon to use poetry in my classes now. Thank you so much.

    Thanks Jeff - Have to say that they woman who wrote that poem is pretty exceptional (it was the most interesting homework I think I've ever received :)) but the whole class enjoyed it and learnt something, even the less creative..... Have fun with it, Jo

    Very nice work. Question: It appears that the majority of your activities/tasks are based on integrative lessons. Is this accurate? In my current position, I am assigned to speaking and listening courses. No reading / writing involved.

    Hi Jo, thanks for this video. I have been searching for this kind of teaching approach for years. I had a similar idea but never actually took time to elaborate and put things together. There are tons of "alternative" and supposedly "creative" approaches on the net but this one has another dimension that's not probably so overt. I am a neurobiologist and my interest in neurobiology is quite broad, particularly around cognitive science and behavioral psychology. This approach uses the basic modes our mind inherently possesses - like our tendency to create stories, to see the world from other people's perspective (or in other words to try to read their minds), to bond with others based on similarities...I find it quite intriguing. Anyway, I want to ask if you would recommend any recent advances in the "creative automatization" field in the form of new scientific articles or books or whatever. Thank you very much, wish you luck with teaching!

    Thanks for all these excellent videos Jo, you rock! Question: Would you recommend doing a DELTA / Master's etc and what are the pros of cons of each option. Thanks :)

    • @elttraining
      @elttraining  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the nice feedback! There's no 'right' answer to which qualification to do. It depends a bit on what you want to do afterwards. Both will open a lot of doors -the DELTA has great currency because an employer will know that you have good classroom practice as well as the theory, but an MA is usually necessary for university jobs... There's a good discussion of this here malingual.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/ma-tesol-app-ling-or-delta-which-to-do.html (although a bit biased to an MA) and the comments below are useful, too. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide.
