I keep coming back to this video. I've been going round and round trying to think of what I want to build. I want something comfortable, simple.. and easy to build with the least amount of parts.. This is almost right there.
Good video and a great tribute to your uncle. I really enjoyed seeing his shop and all the pictures of his projects. Sadly, we're losing great Americans like your uncle, and they're being replaced by kids who can hardly put fuel in a vehicle let alone repair or build anything. Keep up the great work.
That was very respectful of you Paul for remembering your uncle Bruce may he rest in peace ! Two thumbs up to you ! Thanks for sharing your experience .
Some things in life are greater than any material gift could ever be and you carry that gift on and are generous enough to share that precious gift that you were given with the rest of mankind. I feel honored that you would share such a wonderful gift and I think that fits within the spirit in which it was given. Thank you very much for your generosity and kind spirit.
I LOVE this DIY, Paul! Your dedications were touching. I am an elder now, but I was the eldest of my father's. He kept having me help him with carpentry, automotive, home repair, and outdoor sports. At the time, I kept telling him, "I'm a girl! I don't want or need to learn these things." I am a Jill of All Trades, and I have my father to thank. ~~~Blessings.
Hello Paul Sorry that your mentor who died, he gave you and great gift . I know it's been a long time since I viewed your videos and your still doing a fantastic job . I'm slowly getting back to bike building, after dealing with spinal stenosis for 2 years
My condolences to you. The best gift he could give you he did. He inspired you to do. The best gift you can give him is what you do now, inspire others. Cheers to you sir.
incredible as usual ! would be curious to see this new guy coupled with a mini home. pretty sure your uncle must be really proud to have you pursuing the freedom to build things you are really an inspiration and I think to a lot of us, keep going Paul !
what a cool bike mate i just may rebuild my old trike like that. what an awesome tribute to your uncle he was a great diy guy may he go to the great diy feild in the sky. have a great day mark
I really enjoy your videos, you have inspired me to do small little projects again. Keep up the great videos, if I'm inspired I know you have others. I think we all have it in us but nowadays we have been wasteful with resources.
love your videos they are so great.. why spend thousands on recumbent bikes when you can have the enjoyment and satisfaction of making your own!! brilliant
sorry for your loss man! interurban trail? nice bike!!! next scouter skate board bike? saw one Alki bike rental shop, thought of you! keep it up, Big Thumb's Up!!!
Paul, I don't like this trike, I LOVE IT!!! awesome idea and great use of a boat seat! I've got a bicycle build planned for the future, and this has got me thinking!! thanks again for the great videos!
Paul, wonderful video as always. Have you considered having a wheel built with an internally geared hub? Shimano makes an 8 speed that would really work great for that machine
Actually I was going to use a 20" wheel I have with a Nuvinci variable hub, but due to weight I opted for using the wheel off my 3 speed 16" wheel folding bicycle. It works good for a test vehicle.
Zero maintenance rear hard tires + suspension on seat + suspended seat - seems to work out fine! (Y) Perhaps look into polyurethane foamed tires if you need more load carrying capacity ...
dear Paul...brilliant work as usual. have you considered making an Ingo Bike, using an eccentric real wheel to propel the bike by "bouncing' instead of pedals?
Really like your inventive style, love the bike and really love to bike camper you took to burning man, do u have plans for this. Or could you tell me what the dimensions are. Matt
This can have amazing applications I have thought about something like this as a way for me to exercise as i have an extremely large abdominal hernia and this prevents me from standing or walking for long periods as my abdominal muscles are compromised and my lower back muscles are over worked. I am a heavy woman, I am diabetic and am developing neuropathy (numbness is the hands and feet. Although I have always been heavy, when I was younger prior to the unnecessary surgery which precipitated this condition I was active. I am trying to keep the function I do have so I can do the household chores I can as long as I can for my husband and daughter. This device could allow someone in similar situations to me to exercise be somewhat more mobile and have some fun and help to slow the rate of atrophy. Personally if I could I would live in water or on the moon, I feel so free in water. :D
Nice. Your video makes me think of something I want to invent: When I'm old and tired I want an electric walker to pull me along (slowly) on my walks. Someone told me that's dangerous, but it's not any more dangerous than my mother going downhill on her walker ... She has handbrakes. Could you suggest a design?
This trike is inspiring without a doubt. I think I would add 2 things to make it more versatile and compact. I would remove the steering wheel and put a central resistance spring between the post and the chassis. So maybe I can also use my legs to handle the tire and it will automatically reposition itself in a straight line. I would also put pneumatic tires behind 12 or 16 for dirt roads. Something similar to the funcycle or the confortrider th-cam.com/video/InbvlTBHISs/w-d-xo.html
Hi Paul! I really like the scooter. Great dedication at the end also. We've spoke before here and there but haven't told you health issues. I was paralyzed 11 years ago. After years of therapy I move around but that's about it. I have lost about all stamina and now I stand a few minutes then have to sit a while. It's not good. I always had the dream to build a velocar or mochet. Well now I'm to the point where it could be vital to my health. I have all the tools, I'm mechanical and have nothing but time. I am also a master woodworker. I may have to go back to warm water therapy for winter to keep me going but would love to be pedaling something by spring. I have in mind building from old bikes also. Quad for stability. I can't risk having any kind of accident. On your quad you too to burningman, do you feel the rear wheels are too narrow? Looking at velocar s images in google it seems the rear wheels are wide as the can be but yet track narrower than front ones. Just sharing!
Hey 19stoney64. Unless your going to be a speed freak and take corners at speed, the Mochet design with the rear wheels just behind the riders seems to work well. I've had no tipping issues. I think you might like this trike design. As you can see it's easy to mount and is very comfortable. I wouldn't ride it on any surface other than paved roads or trails due to the small hard rubber wheels, but it does keep the weight down and is fairly easy to lift and move around.
My pedal car is like two recumbents welded to a front beam which has a much wider stance than the two rear wheels, keeping the riders within the triangle.
Your uncle seemed real cool. I wanna build one of your boats out of chloroplast, hopin that with the election comin to an end I can find some sign boards for free. You can buy a trailer for 250.00 US at harbor freight, me and my friends would love to see you make some kind of tear drop trailer rv. The bike trailer was awesome, couldn't you just mount the homeless shelter to a bike trailer? I show your video's to my friends.
Hey Paul. Really like all your videos, but one problem. As you probably know an election only happens ruffly every four years. Where can I harvest some cheap/free coroplast.
I'm sorry for your loss, Paul. Your uncle inspired you and you inspire thousands. In that way there is no end. In that way there is no gone.
this dude makes the coolest things, all his small plastic houses and campers are genus
i completely agree he is so cool he should upload more often!!
he sure seems to have a lot of fun in life.

R.I.P. Uncle Bruce. The one you inspired, now inspires me. Thank you both.
Thank you so much for your videos. They are an escape for my brain and they ALWAYS inspire me!
RIP uncle Bruce.
Thanks Innate Liberty. I'll keep making builds and sharing. It's what I love to do and it's nice to be appreciated.
that was a very touching Memorial to your Uncle Bruce

Incredible pics at the end. Sorry for your loss. It looks like your uncle had a lot of fun while he was alive. And that's what is all about.
I LOVE this DIY, Paul!

Thank you Sarge27271. He was truly my inspiration for realizing your imagination and tenacity is the limit.
incredible as usual ! would be curious to see this new guy coupled with a mini home.
pretty sure your uncle must be really proud to have you pursuing the freedom to build things
you are really an inspiration and I think to a lot of us, keep going Paul !
Thanks Jean! I appreciate the kind words.
I love your videos, but the vehicles are always my favorites.

Thanks Mark. Always good to hear your nice comments.
I really enjoy your videos, you have inspired me to do small little projects again. Keep up the great videos, if I'm inspired I know you have others. I think we all have it in us but nowadays we have been wasteful with resources.
A brilliant little trike, simple and effective. I bet it's a lot of fun too. Liked the dedication at the end, I'm sure he could be chuffed :-)
Excelent video Paul...( rest in peace your mentor ), greetings, congratulations and success.
I enjoy your videos and your talent. I wish I had a tricycle with a seat this large.
thats an awesome build .you would really enjoy putting casters on the back perhaps that can come on and off caster trikes are so fun.
always look forward to ur vids . iam always intrigued by your thought processes and final inventions, tks
Great projects !!!!
I want to see more of your feature projects.
This rite here “is what keeps you young”👍👍👍
Looks like the adult version of a big wheel! I want one! LOL
love your videos they are so great.. why spend thousands on recumbent bikes when you can have the enjoyment and satisfaction of making your own!! brilliant
I agree whole heartedly!
wow what an amazing collection of machines thanks for sharing.
What a delightful trike.
Sorry about your uncle. Hopefully he lived in peace at least for decent part of his life...
Cool trike. It looks like fun.
Nice. 👍
Always did
like your projects.
sorry for your loss man! interurban trail? nice bike!!! next scouter skate board bike? saw one Alki bike rental shop, thought of you! keep it up, Big Thumb's Up!!!
Love it Paul!!! Would have loved to hang out with Bruce and see his creations!!!
I could see adding a lightweight solar canopy and small motor w/ dry lipo to assist with hills.

I think I'd ride that fer fun. Pretty cool Paul.
paul thats a really nice idea!!!!
Paul, I don't like this trike, I LOVE IT!!! awesome idea and great use of a boat seat! I've got a bicycle build planned for the future, and this has got me thinking!! thanks again for the great videos!
That's pretty cool Paul :)
Nice trike,nice tribute..................Cheers
Paul, wonderful video as always. Have you considered having a wheel built with an internally geared hub? Shimano makes an 8 speed that would really work great for that machine
the build looks like it has one, perhaps from a folding bicycle? it can clearly be seen at 1:56.
it does look a bit like a SA hub
Actually I was going to use a 20" wheel I have with a Nuvinci variable hub, but due to weight I opted for using the wheel off my 3 speed 16" wheel folding bicycle. It works good for a test vehicle.
Interesting concept.I would use a seat that hugs you and bigger wheels.
pretty cool i was wondering how you turned, at first. look really neat
nice machine .love your shop. ohhhhh, the room.:)
woo hoo, another cool experiment
I bet that is a lot of fun.
Great work your a brilliant man! Let me know if your ever in Miami Florida
Zero maintenance rear hard tires + suspension on seat + suspended seat - seems to work out fine! (Y) Perhaps look into polyurethane foamed tires if you need more load carrying capacity ...
awesome bike 👍☺
Sick whip
dear Paul...brilliant work as usual. have you considered making an Ingo Bike, using an eccentric real wheel to propel the bike by "bouncing' instead of pedals?
Sorry about you Uncle.
This is a very nice trike. Very ingenious indeed. I'd like one but, I don't know if thos small wheels would hold my weight.
R.I.P. Bruce😥🙏🏼
Good idea with crimping the ends of the forks, I will use that method. Could you build a pedal powered submersible/submarine ?
Yes I could, but I probably won't :)
Paul Elkins you should! You seem like the person that could do it
Really like your inventive style, love the bike and really love to bike camper you took to burning man, do u have plans for this. Or could you tell me what the dimensions are.
Matt
Check out my website and find the camper. I have some dimensions on the bottom of the post. www.ElkinsDIY.com
Did you take it over any sweet jumps? I'd love to see it pull the bike trailer camper thing. Nice build by the way. :)
Not yet...
You can steer hands free and the handlebars keep hitting your knees- so why are the handlebars still on at all?
Fantastic!
you are one coll man bro.
Hola podrías hacer otro vídeo del triciclo gracias?

You could put regenerative braking on it for downhill :)
you should take that on RAGBRAI!
Very cool!
Would of liked to have watched the build. But great video!.
A variation on the design would be rear steer.
I like the pictures at the end. Are you in Oregon?
Close, Washington
couldn't you find smaller wheels ?
I salute you.
hmm should get a multi speed gear hub for that if u haven't already
Awesome!

I think I want to DIY, to...
Thanks you...
Please! Pleaaase, make a combination of this little trike with your homeless shelter into a trike rv! Would be really awesome!
Mass produce these.
Get that internal gear shifting and you'd go faster!

To Uncle Bruce!
Cool. I just started getting into bike mods. See my latest videos for my FWD tweaks on a mini bmx and Razor Drift Trike.
nice
Браво Мастер !
I am disabled and that tricycle would be perfect for me although in my neighborhood the cops would probably pull me over...
RIP.

Put your homeless unit behind this... You could ride warm and dry ...
I mentioned before that off setting the rear wheels with bundgies the bike will bank for turns... any thoughts??
i wish, i could weld....
Nice
