Jonah Week 2
Jonah realized so much during these three days within the belly of this great fish. I would imagine you and I would have realized a lot of truths about God and ourselves during this time as well. Once we realize these truths in our lives, what will we do with this?
Looking at Jonah chapter 2 we see Jonah calling out to God and re-surrendering his life to God’s call.
As you listen to this message, let me encourage you gather with others who can speak into your life as you seek to do the same for others.
Beginning with 1:17 - swallowed up by a large fish ...
This was not all a part of God being mean to Jonah - it was His Mercy over Jonah
2:1 - 3 days in the fish THEN he prayed
2:1-7 The Pathway To Restoration For Jonah
1 - Jonah's Distress
2 - Jonah's Thought - God has forsaken me
Look at what Jonah has realized in the fish for 3 days
I called - He still answered
God caused this to happen
Jonah could again look to the Temple = look to God
God did the rescue - even in the fish
Jonah could still surrender to God - O Lord My God
VS 8 - Key Verse for the book of Jonah - Jonah's Realization of his core issue - Idolatry Realized
Jeremiah 2:1-13
VS 9 - Repentance - turned away from these idols - still in the belly of the fish
VS 10 - Thrown up on land - given this opportunity to stop running
Still does not like the Ninevites but trust God more
Application
Do you feel forgotten by God ... Is God trying to get your attention
Those who have turned back to God - remember this time of running and turning back - helping others through their times?
How are your idols treating you
