I have found ALOT of "Jet" on a dry river bed. Every year the water get's turned off at Elephant Butte, New Mexico. The Rio Grande runs bone dry every Winter from Elephant Butte, past Las Cruces, onto El Paso Texas, until it get's fed water from another source. I love walking on this dry river bed with my dogs. I've noticed and collected MANY "Jet Black" rocks. From little grape-size rocks to huge potato sized rocks. Beautiful, brittle and shiny. Thanks to you, I now know what is is, what it's used for. I was told or read somewhere that jet wasn’t recommended for those born in the sign of Libra. I don’t know. I DID buy several black stones and kept them together for a period of time hoping that they act and behave in the manner in which I was told to be protective. I’m not sure that worked.
The best black gemstone is black spinel because it rates 8 on the Mohs scale of hardness. When properly polished, it has even more luster than black diamond. 🖤
