The song was inspired by the men and women who have been through droughts, and prayed for rain, only to be overwhelmed by floods. Not a fabrication by script writers, this was real. Farmers watched as their stock struggled through the endless dry of a thirsty land, and then within days, as the skies opened up and the rain tumbled down, saw the dust turn to mud, the rivers overflow, and water rise across the land, and the stock struggle for high ground. It is tough out there. The courage of these people is Australia at its best. Tom has seen it, he knows this life. He feels it. He is a great mate, and I consider myself blessed to be able to help him tell his story.
@GarthPorter7025, yes absolutely. We do not have a massive beef operation but it affected everyone big or small. We were operating a ‘fodder machine’ during that drought and it became so tiring. Thankfully we have had rains again now (2023) just in the nick of time as our last paddock was being fed. Tom Curtain’s Katherine Outback Experience brought so much joy and yes, We’re Still Here and yes it really is something that is in your blood for you to be able to stick at it.
I'm a farm boy, and this perfectly sums up the rural life, a constant struggle to survive when nature tells you to give up, but mixed with mental of joy as you realise your connection with nature, its tough out here, but farmers wouldn't have it any other way
I just love this song I listen to it all the time. Each time I listen to it I pretend we are on the road traveling in the outback. It is our dream to come true. I cannot wait to we do this for real. thank you for a GREAT song!
Mate, if this doesn't win you the best country ballad of the year in Tamworth (as it should do) then there's something wrong, this is bloody brilliant, love it Tom, this song translates so well what the outback really is like and it's why I love it so darn much, thanks Tom for being such a great ambassador for all who love this land we call home so much and sticking by us through thick n thin. I know you don't sing these songs for any fame (as they come straight from you heart), it's the fact that you can tell the story of the bush and what it's really like is so important and you do it so well.
This song really speaks to the heart, soul, and resilience of our Aussie farmers. Hang in there. The whole of Australia (including city folk like me) is rooting for you!
Really love this song. I have always admire the outback and wanted to experience being in the outback and explore the beauty of it. We are looking so forward to visiting it is on our bucket list has been for a long time now. Keep the great songs coming love them all.
Tom I absolutely adore you. My dad is Michael thirgood. You know him don't you. And yeah I just think all your songs are so inspiring. I am going to come to one of your shows. Love from Macy🐎🐴
Farmers stick around for generations, through drought, bush fire & flood & hardly ever complain when things get rough. Yet they get constantly overlooked because they choose to work the land & feed the rest of us, who are blissfully unaware of what that actually takes. And shamefully, the highest echelons of power pander to interests that do far more harm than good to our agriculture industry.
Sorry to say it, but this song and the pictorial including the aboriginal, he's not a Home Owner like the rest of the folks! Most of these folks all have direct access in and out. But for the little dark skinned itch, you'll never fully scratch unless you make him Equal!
TOM I LOVE YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE & SONGS

I like how all tge video matches the words . Like when he says corn it shows a corn crop no wheat or something silly like that. Well done Tom love it.
Great song about farmers currently doing it tough but at the same time resilient in sticking it out.
