2.) Cambodia political and cultural claim scandals, Malaysia threaten to cut freshwater supply to Singapore, South china sea territorial disputes
3.) Resources being exploited due to corruption and unsuccessful preservation effort
4.) Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines has high birthrates, the rest are not as rapid
5.) ASEAN market is carried by only half of its members
6.) HDI is even poorer than China, but better than Africa
7.) China vs US external influence
      8.) Geographically decent, correct
9.) AEEAN is still recovering from economic recess since corona outbreak
      10.) Growth has no ceiling

For Indonesia, we have 2.18 birth per women so its very stable growth. Philippines however still having 2.7 birth per women which can consider as high

Thailand has had 23 coup d'etats in 60 years, the most in the world and has been frozen for 20 years, but now everything is over. Now that Thailand has opened the country seriously. Let's wait and see who will be the first developed country first. In Asean, although the first quarter grew 1.5%, the investment is constantly flowing and many projects are starting. And now, Thailand's legal gambling has passed. Lasvegas is coming down And Thailand has only 1 election that has not been coup d'etat in the past 60 years, but now it won't be there anymore.

The Portuguese were already in Malacca by the early 1500s.
Medieval Europe didn't know about South East Asia, true, but they didn't know about China either. They only knew there were some kingdoms to the East thanks to the Mongol conquests and Marco Polo's travels, but Marco Polo also traveled through SEA so the level of information about the region is rather comparable to that of China. If anything, what medieval Europeans did know about was India (albeit vaguely), hence why they named every newly discovered land "Indies".
China was quick to enter the European's cultural consciousness because it was a huge, unified, centralized state that was probably the most powerful country in the world during the age of exploration and for some time thereafter.
