Cheers!

I just discovered your channel after returning from two weeks in Taiwan. We visited Yingye, which was as lovely as you portray it to be. And you're right about Taiwanese liberal views of alcohol. Years ago my mother in law let my eight year old daughter try some beer. Daughter didn't like the taste but out of politeness drank it all. From that my mother in law proudly told us that my kid daughter liked the beer! Hahaha. Your channel is great; keep it up.

I was quite lucky to stay in the public education system all the way. Most of my educational spendings was on textbooks and many other extra-curriculum activities. I rarely attended the after-school classes (I found them not very useful, except the English classes I took before studying abroad). I choose to live in school dorms during my college years and had no regrets. It is still possible to keep the overall educational spendings low in Taiwan.

I agree with everything you said....I remember someone giving me a beer on the beach, and as a New Yorker, I was like, "I can drink this here?" I have even bought beer and sat in front of 7-11 and just drank it. A big no no in NYC. And as for real estate, I cannot figure out how the typical person can afford a home in Taipei. A condo in Taipei goes for at least $500,000 (US), but the annual salary is about $20,000 a year (or less). But the renting is much cheaper too. So it doesn't make sense to buy a condo and rent it out. You won't make money. Would love to see a video on Taiwan real estate....maybe a future topic, Nathan.

Just a thought. I am confused when you said TW education expenses is above global average, at around $56,000 per year. I think you mean parents who send their kids to those expensive and exclusive private k to 12 in TW. As far as I know, for college education, the most expensive TW private colleges cost just a fraction of tuitions one would pay to go to a good public college in CA, such as the UCs. Private college tuitions in the US will be even higher. TW's education should be ranked one of the cheapest in the world if you stay in public. Unlike the US, public means top notch for colleges in TW.

Women do crazy things to their skin. Some Asian women overly protect their skin from the sun; lots of Western women over-expose their skin under the sun or on tanning beds.
It's interesting how skin color signifies social status in various cultures. To Westerners, tanned skin tone represents a healthy or wealthy life style meaning he or she loves outdoor activities or can afford vacations.

White skin is preferred among women in asian cultures because it signifies a person of the upper class. Lower class women would be tanned from working outside or have calloused hands. Pale women were known to be wealthy and stay indoors often without needing to work.

Not sure about now, but decades ago, you could be laughed at for having darker skin tones at schools in east Asian countries, being whiter was considered prettier. I have no judgement on that but it is interesting for white people to find this habit strange (not this youtuber) as many of them want to have darker skin and crazy about exposing themselves to the sun. If you think it through, they are both doing the same different things.

As long as you don’t drive after drinking
Don't get drunk in public ...
Everyone actually feels OK with this
    Otherwise it is very abominable
