Yes, that's how I have mine wired; directly to the battery terminals. There's a fuse inline. If you wire directly to the battery, then the USB charger will always be powered. So the USB charger I picked has an on/off button. As another option, the CRF250L does have a connector under the fuel tank area that is key powered. So it only has power when the key is on. You need a pigtail connector which I believe CRF'sOnly sells.
@@ScrufsGarage This video is exactly what I was looking for! I have the older model fairing that attaches to the handlebars...kind of a pain to see the dash, but I can deal with that. I am trying to mount power to it and clicked on your link to the USB 12v kit you used. 2 questions: 1. is the line long enough to reach the battery (it says the cord length is 26inches)? I will have to direct mount it to the battery as I have an older model (2016) 250L that doesn't have the accessory power in the headlight area. 2. Are you concerned about the "weatherproofness" of the + - connector on the back of the USB unit? Thanks for your help!
The wires that come with the USB charger were not long enough to reach the battery so I spliced in an extension. Be sure to include the fuse section. I soldered my connections and added heat shrink tubing. As for the terminal connections on the back of the USB charger, they are somewhat exposed. For normal riding I haven't had any issue, but my bike stays in my garage so it doesn't get rained on, etc. You could wrap some electrical tape around them for a bit of extra protection, but overall I don't think you'll have any issues.
The more I ride with the mini fairing, the more I like it. It puts the phone/GPS at the perfect height. I've also recorded some with the gopro mounted to the front... on the hwy, when the image is really smooth, you notice some vibration. But offroad, when the video is bouncy anyways, you don't know it vibration from the gopro being mounted on the mini fairing. Overall, I really like it.
i have the same unit installed on my kawasaki klx300, same set up as yours, i works like a charm!!
Nice... Good to see you back...
Thanks. As you can see, I've added a new toy to my garage!
@@ScrufsGarage Having fun... 👍
Newb question... Can the USB charger connect directly to the battery terminals?

Thank you for this, it's exactly the info I was looking for! Great informative video.
Hello, don't you have vibration problems with mini fairing? Greetings.
