    For all those LIARs talking about dead Birds. These 100m plus giants are way too slow to kill birds. Even the wing tips are traveling at a speed slow enough for Birds to avoid. Your are ignoring the physical limits of how fast big things can move.

      The blade tips on most turbines are travelling at speeds only just subsonic.. they are kind of an optical illusion in a way... I agree tho cos realistically there are more birds killed by cars than wind turbines.. somebody will always find something to complain about 😂😂

    • @pjacobsen1000
      @pjacobsen1000 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It won't. The estimated total annual generation is based on 'capacity factor' which differs depending on location. In the North Sea (between Britain and Europe), the capacity factor is around 0.50. With that capacity factor, it will produce 66 GWh/year. In other locations it could be a little more or a little less.

    • @grahamstevenson1740
      @grahamstevenson1740 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pjacobsen1000 Are there figures for capacity factor readily available for other areas ? There are longer term drifts in capacity too. I recall a recent year for wind generation in the UK showed output around 10% down on the predicted amount.

    • @pjacobsen1000
      @pjacobsen1000 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@grahamstevenson1740 I think you can find wind maps online, but capacity factor is not an exact science (actually, not a science at all, just collecting data). For example, wind speed increases as you go higher up, so a high turbine will have a higher factor than a lower one.
      Yes, there are also variations from year to year, but I think they measure the average over several years.
      Nevertheless, of course there will be instances where there is no wind at all in British waters, so we definitely need a backup, at least for the foreseeable future.
