- Hello fellow adventurers,
I hadn't planned this video but here it is.
Today is my birthday and I just wanted to share some news with you about how I got my start in gaming and thank all you wonderful subscrbers for joinging me on this journey.
In 2000-2001, during the start of the D&D 3.0 revolution, I got reinvigorated with the D&D franchise when WotC announced the D20 license.
I strated writing a post-apocalyptic campaign world inspired by Gamma World, Thundarr the Barbarian, Star Wars, and several other of my interests.
This video contains some artwork I commissed from a couple of artists, including the famous Wayne Reynolds!
I hope you like it!

Happy belated birthday. You got another new subscriber!!
I’m 20 now and am just about to wrap up my first campaign. I’m obsessed with the feeling this game gives me. Telling a story with my friends, rolling pretty looking Platonic solids, and drowning myself in all the mechanics I can learn, it’s the best. To me it feels like I win dnd every time I play, online or in person, because I have an amazing night with the people I love.
I too am on the job search right now, best of luck to you out there, Joe. Excited to check out your other videos
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! Subscribed
Woo! Thanks @deadlyDM. I like your avatar.
Congratulations. I just retired (I'm 65) and I'm (happily) unemployed and looking forward to more time for gaming. Good luck with everything!
Thanks @brucehubbell9116! Enjoy your free time in retirement. You deserve it!
I’m in my early 50s. I started D&D after an older brother of a school friend ran the ‘Palace of the Silver Princess’ AD&D module in my last year at primary school in the 80s. Fast forward 40 odd years to today and I’m running a D&D 5th edition campaign every month with a bunch of friends, many of whom I played RPGs with at high school, back in the day. Gorgeous!
‘Palace of the Silver Princess’ is a fun module. I was a player on that one as a friend of mine wanted to DM it.
Happy birthday! Subscribed too
Thank you!
I love hearing your thoughts and stories.
I’ve been in the same campaign since I was 13.. I’m 53 now. We get together and play for a few days a couple times a year - my first character I ever rolled up is still alive and kicking :)
Wow. Thanks for your comment. The same campaign since you were 13 is incredible. Congratulations for that!
Nice
I started late into gaming. It was 1987 and I was a Marine in 29 Palms CA and a friend asked if I wanted to play D&D. The rest is history
Happy Birthday Joe! Thank you for sharing how your history with the game!
happy birthday
Thanks a ton @markbacon952! I appreciate your comment and welcome to my channel!
I started playing in 1980, freshmen year in college. I knew none of the rules, and we played until 3am on a Friday night in our dorm room, and I went to bed that night with dreams in my head of monsters and magic. We rolled no dice. The DM rolled everything, and the entire game took place in my imagination. It remains the greatest D&D game that I ever experienced.
I have some channels that I'd like to recommend to you. First one is mine, cause why not, hah hah. Next is 'The Dungeon Minister'. I think you'll greatly enjoy his yt channel. Next is 'thedungeondelver'. Bill is the epitome of an Old School Gamer. He still only plays 1st edition AD&D, and he livestreams on his channel Monday-Friday evenings, and plays live D&D and Gamma World once/week on his stream.
Next is 'The Old Warlock'. I wish everyone would watch their video "Why AD&D is More Dangerous Than 5th Edition". It perfectly demonstrates what's wrong with 5e, though some in the comments disagree.
That's 4 Channels, so that'll keep you busy for a while : )
ttyl maybe : )
@@Lightmane thanks. I’ll check out your channel and I am familiar with Bill’s channel. Although I started with AD&D I’ve played many editions and styles of those editions. Styles to me are unique and this uniqueness is a blend of the DM’s house rules, method of play, and how they interact with the players, etc. The PCs also help create the style and help with the flow of gameplay. It’s hard to describe but I think many people who play the game will understand what I’m talking about.
@@dnd-and-philosophy I totally agree, though I've never played WotC D&D, but I know enough about it from talking to people.
Yo congrats man!
Thanks!
happy birthday!
Thanks!
Happy birthday.
Thanks!
Ok, I'm in. I appreciate your bad experience finding a job. Gamed since a kid back in the day. Have had the opportunity to play in some pretty austere environments and find it something of a secret society where ever I go.
I want you to start a Patreon or Kofi. I personally, do not care if you have literally anything to put into it. We, the community will support you. I can see you have a LOT to give the community.
Wow, that's kind of you to say. Thank you for your support. I'll think about starting a Patreon over the next few weeks.
Happy birthday!
Thanks so much, @MrRambojz. I had a great birthday yesterday!
Happy Birthday!
Thanks @marcclement6597!
