Thanks for taking me on this adventure. I was born in WA and have lived there for 60 years and the closest I have been to this hike was on a backpacking trip to Lake Stuart when I was a pre-teen. WA is an amazing place when you get out on foot!!

I first hiked the Enchaments in 1978. It was much less complicated then!! But just as fantastic.

I loved these two videos. My wife and I are just doing a day hike through this place in early October, but wanted an in-depth look into the whole 22 miles or whatever.
I see that you aren’t “blowing up” yet, as many vloggers desire, but you’ve made an informing and entertaining video that is dearly appreciated by some. Keep up the good work, and enjoy your beautiful travels!

My third video with you. I'm hitting subscribe.
I worked as a dishwasher in Leavenworth and lived out of my car. On my days off I'd hike up to Nada Lake and just camp. There were small cutthroat trout in that lake that tasted fine over a fire.

All mountains have been seen, but not all people have experienced them the way you do.
      Keep it coming.

Wow...you're so lucky to get those permits! I just watched a bunch of your vids including Parts 1 and 2 here and I really like your style. I saw in Part 1 that you would have a packing list...did you ever make one? I'm curious what size backpacks you have as well. Thanks!

Ahh we have not put an official one together (Lol best of intentions right?!)... but as far as the backpacks go... we got both of them from REI. I think mine is a Gregory 60L and Myles has an REI brand 70L. :)

@@WaypointofView thanks for the response! I was curious what size you had to fit the 4 nights worth of food into. Hope all is well.

The first-ever backpacking trip I did was the Enchantments. We did the exact same route as yours, but only as an overnight. As a novice backpacker, I brought too much stuff. My pack was 50 lbs. To this day, I still wonder how I made it up Aasgard Pass with that pack weight. Our permit was only to camp at Snow Lake. We ran out of daylight and going down Lake Viviane is very treacherous, especially at dark. So we had to camp at Lake Viviane. It was windy that night. The next morning, we were covered in sand from the wind. While eating breakfast, a Ranger came by and asked for our permit. It was a Sunday, so yep, even Sundays or holidays, they are there. Since we camped at a non-designated campsite with our permit, we got fined $100. We told the Ranger our situation. But he just said, "You should know your limits and planned better!" and wrote us a $100 ticket. Fully accepted that, and he is 100% correct. After that, it will be the Core Zone permit, or try again next year! What you showed in your videos is the best way to enjoy the Enchantments!

Wow, thanks so much for sharing your Enchantments story with us! Sounds like a very memorable trip, even if it didn't go as planned/ expected. Funny how that works sometimes!

I gotta ask who the artist is that you have to music at 8:33? IS it Cody Francis? You guy were soooo lucky to score that permits. Great video!

Of course... it is Morning Mist by Staffan Carlen. ☺️ And completely agree... we could not believe how lucky we got to get that permit! We still have to pinch ourselves looking back on our 5 days there. Such a magical and special place!!!

Wow, it looks like you timed the larch season perfectly. Was that on purpose, or did you just get lucky? If you don't mind me asking, what were the dates that you did this hike? Here in the Canadian Rockies, our larch season is usually the last two weeks of September.

    • @WaypointofView
      @WaypointofView  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks so much for watching! It wasn't exactly on purpose to be honest... it was mostly by chance/ luck. Once we got to Washington and were planning things out, I had read on some blogs it might be a possibility based on the time of year. But of course with the permitting system for the Enchantments, there aren't any guarantees even if you are trying for it. Our hike started on September 30th so right around the same time frame you are mentioning. :) That was our first time ever seeing a larch tree and WOW! 🥰🥰🥰

@@WaypointofView Thank you for the reply. We're always looking for nice places to go to that'll extend the season a bit. I'll be sure to add this one to the list. If you guys ever come to the Canadian Rockies or Purcell Mountains, and are looking for recommendations, feel free to send me a message. We have plenty of larch hikes and backpacking opportunities that are breathtakingly beautiful. And many don't even require permits.

I was involved in training 600 National Guards for wildfires. The Master Sergeant told me that he never wore sunglasses when addressing people because it was disrespectful.
