  • Seattle Kraken holds media availability on Wednesday, June 3, 2024, with newly added assistant coaches.
    Campbell is the first woman to work on the bench of an NHL franchise after the Kraken hired her as an assistant coach Wednesday.
    Campbell has spent the past two seasons working as an assistant coach for Seattle’s AHL affiliate in Coachella Valley alongside head coach Dan Bylsma, who was hired in late May to take over the head job with the Kraken. There were immediate questions about whether Campbell would be making the move with Bylsma to Seattle.
    Along with Campbell, the Kraken filled another spot on the coaching staff by hiring Bob Woods as one of Bylsma's assistants. Woods was an assistant with Minnesota since 2017, but was let go when Dean Evason was fired as head coach early last season.

      why??? this woman will never have the hockey IQ or knowledge that the NHL players do. It's not even close. Sure, she played for team Canada and had some success with international play, but in reality they get destroyed when they exhibition with 13-14 year old boys. They just brought in the PWHL last year, can she not just coach there?? This is just woke pandering acceptance. And you want her to be coach someday? Ridiculous statement as she is completely unqualified.

      Gotta love the sexist benchwarmers who probably have never played a single day of hockey in their lives coming out of the woodwork about this, not even putting in a shred of research before opening their mouths. She's coached at 3, now 4, professional levels, coached Grubauer when he was in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, as well as for the German IIHF World Championship team in 2022. She's also coached a lot of the swedes in the NHL when she was a Coach for Malmo, not even beginning to mention everyone she's coached in Coachella Valley, whom of which has in their 2 years of existence, been in the Calder Cup finals for both years. Lets see... She also coached Stanley Cup champions, nice little cherry on top there. She has the respect of every single one of the players for her work, they know her and she knows them. Oh and she played for around 20 years, herself. She knows the game, she knows the players, and there's not a shred of her that phones in any of her work - she has earned this with every fiber of her being.
      There's absolutely a reason players like Joel Edmundson have sought her out for their own development outside of their OWN TEAM'S COACHES.
      But oh, people are so damn focused on her being a woman, not about her accomplishments. How about you stay in your lane and either lace up and really find out what it takes to play hockey, much less work with players for as long as she has, or shut up.

    what a joke. Its all about relationship with new coach . so he hires a 2 year coach whose hot. as if its really about relationships. getting cheap thrills choosing a woman to coach mens hockey at nhl level. wtf?? more virtue signaling bs from seattle

    • @thecaffeinequeen
      @thecaffeinequeen หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Lol dude she coached with Bylsma in Coachella for two years. The players there respect her, players who are coming up as full time Kraken players. She also coached Grubauer in the DEL and during her time in 2022 on the German National Team. She coached André Burakovsky when she was a coach for the Malmo Redhawks (Plus Rasmus Andersson, Joe Veleno, etc). So much hostility for no reason, some of y'all have some thin skin and seem allergic to basic google searches.

    What makes her qualified to coach in the NHL again?... This is a PR stunt. Like when Tampa played a woman in goal. First woman... take some pictures.

    • @sethbrisendine3130
      @sethbrisendine3130 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think in many cases you'd be correct, but she's worked for years in player development for some of the best NHL players. She also was an assistant coach for a Coachella Valley team that made back to back finals. We'll see how impactful she is, but it's hardly an unearned promotion.

    • @thecaffeinequeen
      @thecaffeinequeen หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Kind of a clown take from someone too lazy to look up a person. She's coached in multiple professional leagues, played for probably close to 20 years, personally coached Tyler Jost, Joel Edmundson, etc, on top of her work in Coachella Valley, which has in their first and only two years of existence, gone to the Calder Cup Finals. She has been developing players for a LONG time, and has immense respect from all players involved.
      Come back with your L takes when you've played for 20 years and coached in 3+ professional leagues about how she's a PR stunt and not qualified.

      @@colinsellers1143 Are you a Pro NHLer? No? Then don't speak for them. So far every NHL player who has said something about it has been thrilled she will be coaching them - she's coached a lot of the men already, inside and outside the Kraken Organization. And wow, if you can't take a woman behind the bench, how do you even go outside? Do you cross the street when a woman walks by? Imagine being so emotional about something so silly, and men call women irrational.
