    Have you tried to manual on your E-bike yet? Do you find it much harder than the same move on a standard mountain bike?

      Hi Guys, congratulations for the videos. I tried manual technique with my Cube stereo race 140, after 1,5h attempts I was able to keep the front wheel up for 3-4 meters. I thought I was on the right track but.....the day after my lower back was hurting like hell, needed drugs to face the pain. Did I make any mistake? Or just lack of training and too much training? Now I will be blocked 1 week at least. Thanks to share your comment. Cheers!

      I broke my elbow a few years ago and have trouble pulling with that arm while its fully straight. Should I give up on manuals or is it still possible to do with one weak elbow ? I am still working on controlling my wheelies, manuals was next on my list.

    I can never get my front wheel high enough for it to get to the balance point. But maybe I am not properly doing the backwards 'L' shape, maybe I am cutting the corner a little bit or something. Thanks for the upload, even though it was a while ago 😆! I will try again ensuring I get the full backwards 'L' shape.

    I just rode my Rocky Mountain powerplay today for the first time, I was struggling compared to my regular Pivot 5.7 to get front end over the puddles and roots at the higher speeds, it was raining hard today....I am going out tomorrow and going to practice this technique Thanks for the great video. Loved the ebike as I got 3 times more descents in than normal. Definitely going to use it every other ride.

    I feel like I've gotten better at manuals already haha. While i don't ride an ebike I only weigh 57kg and my bike weighs 16kg so it can be really challenging :(
    Something i found was helpful, and while i can see you're doing it but didn't really say, is to start the downward motion further forwards so that you can throw further and to get the front suspension working.

    And one more question. it always makes me confusing whether I should push the bike forward or move my hips back. Though the position of hips will be the same I guess there's some difference in momentum between two.

    I'm a bit late to the game, but would you say that lifting the front wheel would be significantly easier in a mass centralized emtb like the Lapierre GLP? Maybe an idea to do a comparison between a mass centralised emtb and a classic in frame emtb?

    no matter how much i try to manual on my Bulls AM 4, I can't. wheelies are easy because you can use the motor to counteract the weight of the front end. however, on manuals, the bike just feels like a monster truck. please, more tips for this!

      I have the same bike, bought it 2 weeks ago. Wonderfull thing, makes a ton of fun. When I drive it, it feels super fine and playfull, but trying to lift it... Feels like lifting a tank, or like someone nailed it to the ground :D

    • @Me_ThatsWho
      @Me_ThatsWho 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dag1704 Thnx. Glad to know it isn't just me. Were you normally able to manual an acoustic bike (non ebike) ? My Bulls Estream Evo AM 4 (2018) does feel nailed down. Fun but def not a "pop' n play" sort of bike, i'd prob say it's more like an Enduro, stable & planted

    • @dag1704
      @dag1704 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Me_ThatsWho I tried a bit with a normal bike, some weeks before and yeah, it worked pretty okay, I never found the balance point, but having the technique, pulling it up was easy.
      I have problems with resetting the wheels too, like on a narrow trail, with a sharp cornr, where you trackstand/hop your wheels into position. I can't get the front wheel up, nor the rear wheel :D like they are filled with rocks instead of air :D
      But maybe thats normal for e bikes and it requires a differend technique, just keep practicing, someday it works I hope, hopefully before I face the situation on a Trail I don't knew :D

      @Me_ThatsWho 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dag1704 Great description of the Bulls bike ! I hear some newer emtbs are more playful. Bulls' was overly concerned with stability, it seems. A shame- not a great "all mtn" bike, but a decent Enduro style bike thats priced better than most. Happy trails!

    Even after I locked my arms while pushing the bars, bike leans toward left side all the time. Is there something else to relate to balance beside arms?

    • @koko-lores
      @koko-lores 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First, make sure your handle bars are not slightly turned. Then, it could be that you are moving your body in a slight angle. Not sure how to correct this, I guess by concentrating on looking straight ahead. Maybe get a focus point at the end of a long straight line? If your front wheel does point straight ahead, you might be moving your legs, one more than the other. This is a way to balance a long manual, but could cause you to get out of balance during short manuals too.

    Its harder on most ebikes than on regular bike... yes... depends on the bike but you have to squash that rear suspension really hard, adjust the timing. Without really agressive stomp you can forget it. My suggestion is first learn on a normal bike... than adjust for an ebike. Unless you are riding 15000€ 14kg poppy ebike, than it doesnt matter so much.

  • @Garyridesweebikes

    You don't need to move in an "L" shape at all. you just need to kick with your legs as you move your weight diagonally backwards and down.
    Watch a BMXer. they'll mostly move their weight diagonally backwards rather than in an "L". Probably because they're more likely to have put in time riding and practicing instead of looking for skills coaching. All mtb coaches seem to teach this way but that doesn't make it correct. Both ways work just fine.

    • @jackbeames7643
      @jackbeames7643 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GA RY that’s a bmx this is a e MTB way of doing a manual as there so heavy. BMX’s are light

    • @singletrailing
      @singletrailing 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That might work on a BMX due to the small wheelsize and short wheelbase. but it will not work well on a normal bike and even less on a 29er. However, once you can manual that's no issue anymore. As for getting started, it makes a huge difference using the right technique depending on the type of bike you're sitting on. Manual on ;-)

    • @Garyridesweebikes
      @Garyridesweebikes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it works on any bike mate. the longer the bike the harder you need to kick

    • @Garyridesweebikes
      @Garyridesweebikes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      in the vid when Neil demonstrates how NOT to. He actually still does the "L" move that I don't ever do. but he just doesn't commit. Moving your weight back and down diagonally while kicking the BB forwards (the way I've always doen it) takes commitment too. If you're don't commit to either way. Exactly the same thing Neil showed will happen. ie. you'll look like a spanner and your front wheel won't reach the balance point.

    • @Garyridesweebikes
      @Garyridesweebikes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They weren't always. my 1999 Robinson weighed 35lb
      I also rode during the era of DH where bikes commonly weighed 50lb+
      I know mine did.
      I have no doubt EMBN will string out every fundamental riding technique with a series of 5 min tutorials. Here's a quick tip to save you watching any of them... How to do anything on a heavier bike? : Do exactly the same thing but do it harder.
