You've produced very nice sounds here, which you don't find very often on TH-cam! Quick question: did you use percussion samples at this point (min 37) or is it synthesis with the A4?
Thanks man, that means a lot ! 🙏 the percussive sounds at that point are made with the A4, the only percussive samples I sometimes use are for hihats on the analog rytm for 909 stuff for example. The A4 is really great for percussion in my opinion !
Thanks dude ! ✌️ so all of this liveset is live sequencing so I don't have any patterns or kits preprepared except one and alter it on the fly. My usual workflow is to look for a starting point before the jam were I'll try out ideas for 20mins or so, then I hit record and see what happens aha. Also instead of kits I prefer to alter sounds individually as I'm playing as I think it makes for a more continuons sound progression. On both machines I have several sounds saved within the different soundbanks that I use as starting points when I want to move things along and I then morph these sounds as an idea progresses. Hope this explanation makes sense aha 😉

Thanks ! So it isn't the octatrack but the analog four, so no stems at all aha. Everything is live sequenced and using my own sounds minus the occasional Hihat sample on the rytm. 🙂 and I would say that the rytm is probably the drum machine with the widest possible sound palette given the samples, the analog machines and the possibility to balance both together aha

I also explored a lot of the free elektron packs when learning the machines, but I didn't really vibe with them. I very highly recommend the kimura taro packs as they are very educational. Also there's a very nice 303 emulation on the elektronaut forum which I use quite a lot.

Thank you 🙂 ! So for this set I was recording both machines through an audio interface into ableton with headroom. I then just adjusted gain for loudness. As far as monitoring I do most of my sound design through headphones and then for jams such as these i alternate between studio monitors (focal 50 evo) and headphones. I think in any case the most important is too get used to your setup as in play music through it so you get used to the sound of your room/headphones and can recognise when something sounds good and replicate it.
Aha thanks dude ! So I'm only using the laptop as a glorified recorder. I have the output of the analog rytm going into an audio interface and I'm recording it in stereo straight into ableton. I also use it so I can see for how long I've been playing/recording 🙂
