CROCHET SNOWFLAKE

- MY FAVORITE CROCHET SNOWFLAKE. THIS LOVELY SNOWFLAKE HAS ONLY THREE ROUNDS. IT IS ONE YOU CAN MAKE QUITE QUICKLY ONCE YOU GET THE HANG OF HOW TO DO THE ARMS (DENDRITES). I TRY TO DEMONSTRATE THE STITCHES SLOWLY SO YOU CAN GET THE IDEA OF WHERE TO INSERT YOUR HOOK. IT IS A GREAT PATTERN TO PRACTISE WORKING INTO DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE SINGLE CROCHET.
HOW I STIFFEN THE SNOWFLAKES: UPDATE
I MENTION IN THE VIDEO THAT I STIFFEN THIS PARTICULAR DESIGN OF SNOWFLAKE USING EQUAL PARTS WATER TO CRAFT(PVA) GLUE HOWEVER THAT IS WHEN I USE SIZE 10 CROCHET THREAD. FOR DK COTTON I WOULD RECOMMEND USING TWO PARTS GLUE TO WATER AND FOR SOME YARNS YOU MAY EVEN NEED LESS WATER....YOU MAY NEED TO EXPERIMENT. MIX THEM TOGETHER. FOR ONE OR TWO SMALL SNOWFLAKES YOU WOULD NEED ABOUT 30ML OF BOTH WATER AND GLUE, MIX TOGETHER WITH A SPOON, DUNK YOUR SNOWFLAKES IN THIS MIXTURE THEN SQUEEZE OUT THE EXCESS. PIN OUT YOUR SNOWFLAKES USING RUSTLESS PINS AND LEAVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 24 HOURS TO DRY. Please visit this site for an amazing tutorial on stiffening snowflakes • #19 - Stiffening Croch... this is done by a lady i have only just come across and it is a brilliant video💗
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and for showing what to do in such detail and slow pace!
You're an absolute joy to listen to!
Thanks!
Thank you so much.
After following you for such a long time I can’t believe that I have only just found this video. I was wanting to make some giant snowflakes so this is just perfect. Thank you.
So lovely to hear.😊

Большое спасибо. Снежинка замечательная, прекрасное объяснение.
Hi this is such a lovely snowflake but i can't seem to follow it ( i must be the only one in the world, haha) sorry, it is a good video though - do you have a written pattern for me please?
Thank you so much. I am working on writing up my patterns, they are but it is taking me longer than expected but hopefully I will soon have some sorted. Will let you know 😊
Creo que usar un fondo unicolor en su demostración permitiría distinguir mejor el tejido. Saludos
If one started with the number of chains for a USA TReble crochet (4?), a DC, an HDC all in the first sc, skip one sc, then did 5 full points with (hdc, dc, tr, ch1, tr, dc, hdc, sk1sc); end round with hdc, dc, tr and join with whatever makes like a chain 1 and joins (hdc?)to the top of chain (4?) [to mimic a TReble], one would not need to sl st up to tip of point to begin final round.
Very intricate final round!
@Marilou-g5t I will give that a try thank you.

My notations *** may not be accurate*** will test shortly...
Setup: Ch6, sl st join-->to make ring.
1) 12 sc in ring, sl st join in top of 2nd sc.
2) [ch4(=TR), dc, hdc][all in same stitch], sk1,{ [hdc, dc, tr, ch1, tr, dc, hdc], sk1}{5x}, [hdc, dc, tr, *sc or hdc to top of beg og rnd's ch4(=tr)* *not sure which this would need-an sc? or an hdc?*
3) ch12, sc in 2nd ch made
ch 10, sc in 2nd ch made
ch 8, sc in 2nd ch made
ch 6, sc in 2nd ch made
ch 5, sl st in both base loops of last sc of prev loop made, sl sts down to next sc
ch 4, sl st in left leg and back st of sc, sl sts down to next sc
ch 6, sl st in left leg...
ch 8, sl st...
ch 10, sl st
Ch 5, ch3picot sl st, ch 4, sl st in top of next point and repeat from "3)" til round is completed.
I ripped out my ch 6 ring and used a cinch circle
Preferred an hdc to join round 3
One time through step 3 and the stem curves drastically. Perhaps tension issues... Blocking may help. Perhaps i have too many sl sts on way down stem...
Que lo pasen en español por favor gracias 👍
Now this looks like the real snowflakes, tfs!
Thank you 😊
