Third video on the subject I've seen and still NO help. I can only imagine the '7" strap wrench' I purchased at Menards is a Chinese POS that uses the wrong material for the strap, because no matter how I try to use it, the strap simply slips on the pipe and is COMPLETELY useless. My 'strap wrench' looks almost like yours. It's a cast iron wrench with a 15" long strap that is not attached to or sewn to the iron part. No matter how I try to use it, the strap simply slips on the pipe and is COMPLETELY useless. It's a worthless POS tool. Maybe the wrong material was used on this 'strap wrench'? I don't know, but I DO know the only wrench what actually WORKS on pipe is a standard pipe wrench, which damages the surface of the pipe, but at least it gets the pipe TIGHT. At least you posted the source of your 'strap wrench', so I might order one and see if it actually works, unlike this POS I got at Menards.
We can't speak to the product you purchased at Menards, but we welcome you to try our strap wrench. Our coated polyester strap provides slip resistance. You can check here for a distributor near you: www.reedmfgco.com/en/where-to-buy/ If you are worried about marring the pipe, you can also check out our Smooth Jaw Wrenches: www.reedmfgco.com/en/products/wrenches/smooth-jaw-wrenches/ These wrenches open up to 4 1/2 inch maximum depending on the model you choose.
