Usually in small groups they don’t really have sub units but in certain cases when members match each others energy they might make a collab song or album that is a little different than their original group sound. For example, Red Velvet is only a 5 member group but they have a sub unit between Irene and Seulgi who have created an album that is different than their usual Red Velvet sound as a whole. I think it’s to one show versatility in the artist and 2 to provide more content to the fans

Ever since Bad News I noticed how good Haneul is, I love her sharp moves in the prechorus. My favorite is still Julie and she draws my attention the most becuase of her style of dancing and rapping. A year hasn't passed yet and I already consider them one of my favorite groups

KOF has the best choreographies for a 4 member group. Usually with fewer members the dancing isn't as interesting but they manage to fill up space and provide a lot of dynamics.
