I've been using an accelerometer and want to upload data to excel I've used an program that allows me to connect the port to excel and upload data. But when i connected port sometimes data doesn't upload and the letter "R" blinks red.
I was wondering does it have anything to do with the code. Do you like have to include something so arduino can comunicate with excel. Because I've tried different codes for different projects and sometimes it doesn't work

Hello! I don't know wrong with my machine. When I open PLX_DAQ this message "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine." comes out and I cannot use it. I could not identify what is object.

one more thing I had to ask that If I have both version of ms office 2003 and 2007 but after opening the PLX daq excel sheet,It automatic redirected to the excel 2003.Is there any flexibility to change the excel version for this particular application.
Make the 2007 version the default software for Excel files

I have a small problem that I can't figure out.
I'm using an esp8266 microcontroller and the DHT11 temperature & humidity sensor. I tried the same method as you did. I am able to get the data on excel but I have two problems:
1. I'm not able to store more than one sensor data in different columns (i.e. I want to print both humidity & temperature data but excel takes this as one value. eg. if temp =28, humidity = 40, the data is shown as = 2840.00 and it doesn't work if I add a 'space'.
2. I am not able to get the column names.
Please help me with this. If you want to see my code, I can email it to you.

Great video. I have a question. Can you disable continuous data acquistion on PLX-DAQ. I just want it to send data to excel when a sensor goes high. I am currently using data streamer and it is acquisitioning every few milliseconds (I can edit this). Or is there a better way?
Update the code to suit your need, remove the delay and make the data transmission as an event

Hi would this program work, when i design my arduino code to display the measured values in the serial monitor? (Still Serial.print();)
I'm also getting the warning that file is not compatible with the version of windows i'm running.
The spreadsheet and help file is just shortcuts and the actual files are not found as long as the program is not installed...

As I understand, you want to use the code to display values on your serial monitor ! so its the same and it will work fine.
About the file! which one are you talking about, and which windows version are you using?
I'm running Windows 7, tried setting the install file to compatible for windows 2003 SP1 - no sucess.
i used the download of the .zip file in the description to download PLX-DAQ
On that video we were using win7 and as you see PLX-Daq is running with no problems
Okay how about 32 or 64 bit versions? Are both avaliable?

(Anyway, I tried to enable macros but it didn't work also) should I download Excel 2013 (will it work?) or

PLX-DAQ can intract with Microsoft Excel 2007 only, we still don't know why the macros can't be enabled in the higher versions, but you can upload data to your Excel File if you use the 2007 version.

I opened the PLX-DAQ SRL EXCEL 2007 but now I can't see incoming data into the excel software (and probably not even a graph).
(PORT and BAUD is O.K)
What to do?
Try to replace these instruction lines:
Serial.print("CLEARDATA");
Serial.print("LABEL,Current time,Sensor value");
by the following instructions:
Serial.println("CLEARDATA");
Serial.println("LABEL,Current time,Sensor value");
Then add a delay of 1 second "delay(1000);" in the loop function and tell me if it worked

I am sorry to tell you that I'm not familiar with the Excel VBA, But using the PLX-Daq you can only upload data to your Excel file, it means you can not used to read data from Excel file.

I disconnect and reconnect my FTDI, then the problem solve edy, tq.

From what you said, it is a macro security level so just try to configure the Excel macro security level to LOW and then if the problem remain the same then probably it is due to the Excel 64 bit version that you use since PLX-DAQ play its macro with an office 32 bits (not always) I just advice you to install a parallel desktop with windows 7 and Office 2007 and you will get no problems.

I'm not sure that you can make it with an Arduino Uno if you are using the Serial Pins (TX/RX) for Fingerprint sensor because these Pins are connected to the USB-to-TTL Serial chip, as I know the finger print sensor use a Serial protocal to transfer data to the Arduino board so in this case you need to use the SoftwareSerial library that allows serial communication on any of the Uno's digital pins and let the TX/RX pins free for the USB transmission.

The download file only contains shortcuts and not the actual files. This video is useless without the necessary software.

I often receive this kind of issues from those who use Microsoft Excel 2010 or higher, I advise to use Excel 2007 because it runs with no problems.

It said 'stampDAQ could not connect, check port setting' when i selected the right port number. But it is connected once I close the arduino. I reopened the arduino but error appear as I tried to upload the code. help!

The first thing to verify is the baud rate, it should be the same baud configured in your code and PLX-Daq as well, then try to check if the right port number (follow the steps in the video) is selected in the PLX-Daq interface and you get the (c) icon turn from red to green when you click the connect button.
I did exactly that, its just the port wont be connected at the same time with arduino and PLX-Daq. I can only connect one at a time, for example, if the port connected with arduino, PLX-Daq ask me to check port setting. OR. if the port connected with the PLX-Daq, the arduino code wont converge due to its not connected. any idea?
Before making a Serial communication you should know first how it operates like the port configuration the baud rate etc...
But what you mean by "port wont be connected at the same time"!

Sure there is some specific lines to add, so you need to download the code that I used and find out what you missed in your code.
Why is it that everytime i use the DATA,TIME the time that is shown on my computer is different than that of the one recorded into the Excel by PLX-DAQ? It shows 0.65 which doesnt even make sense
TIME is the header of the column not the current time, but to do so you should have an RTC module for arduino which allows you to have the right time then send it to that column for sure if time is what you want to get
If you're talking about RTC modules, can't the PLX-DAQ just extract the date and time from the computer by itself?
Hi MEGA DAS, first of all im not sure if my explanation will be clear enough for you so bear with me please. I have an IMU sensor connected to the arduino which will produce 3 sets of data, the accelerometer values, gyro values and the magnetometer values. Now each of these data is represented with an x, y and z value, which means each sets has 3 columns of data. So on each row i will have 9 columns of data. And when i connect the PLX DAQ to the serial port it doesnt print anything but R is blinking. And im not sure how to configure this table of data.

I've got the point you want to share, actually all what you need is creating the necessary labels for your data by changing the following instruction lines in the code that I provided in the description of the video :
Change this :
Serial.println("LABEL,Current time,Sensor value");
By :
Serial.println("LABEL,Accelerometer X,Accelerometer Y,Accelerometer Z,Gyro X,Gyro Y,Gyro Z,Magnetometer X,Magnetometer Y,Magnetometer Z,");
Then when you want to send data to the appropriate cell just do this :
Serial.print("DATA,");
// Now send data of Accelerometer variables
Serial.print(Accelerometer_X); Serial.print(",");
Serial.print(Accelerometer_Y); Serial.print(",");
Serial.print(Accelerometer_Z); Serial.print(",");
// Now send data of Gyro variables

Serial.print(Gyro_Y); Serial.print(",");
Serial.print(Gyro_Z); Serial.print(",");
// Now send data of Magnetometer variables

Note : about recieving data in PLX_daq make sure that you are configuring the same baudrate for both Arduino(Serial.begin(9600); )and PLX_daq.

Sorry for the very late reply, what you are asking about is a pure Excel configuration so there is no need to include Arduino in this, but I can suggest to use the "millis ()" fuction of Arduino in order to get the elapsed time then send it to you Excel file

So what I understand that you want to make a control on the data transmission! I mean you want it to be send by an event that you make, like clicking on a button or something like that?

Actually the Arduino don't send instructions to PLX-Daq but it sends data, and the PLX-Daq is always waiting for data to come and when it comes then PlX place it into the Excel file, so if you want to stop PLX from uploading data just stop the Serial data transmission from your Arduino and if you want to give PLX-Daq the data just send it through the Serial port. I don't know if I gave you the desired answer or not!?

Lol the ground pin wasn't fully in. which made the serial transfer not work but arduino blink.

Try it with Microsoft Excel 2007
You seem to be yelling into your microphone so loudly that your voice is distorted. Move the mic closer to your mouth.
Also, put a "pop" filter between you and the microphone so when you expel letters such as a "p" the microphone won't record it as it would wind blowing over it. You can find videos here on TH-cam discussing "pop" filters.

I have Excel 2010 but without product key, maybe the problem is that version or that I dont have a product key
sorry to tell you this but the PLX-daq module that i posted don't run with Excel 2010 it works only with 2007 version ( try to download the 2007 version from internet and solve the problem ;) )

What do you mean by "fil itself"?
If you want to change the columns labels you can do this through the code or just after getting the data from Arduino
