I get what you mean about the color choices, but between the pans and the pencils they are providing you with a split primaries. In addition you get the feel of the pencils (I know you know them well, but I say you as in general, any person that will get this), and the feel of the pans, to decide which you like best. And if you like them, either choice or both, you can easily complete the split primaries cause you would already know the names. I think is a clever way to sell.
I’m not much of a ‘colouring gal’ - but I really learn a lot when you start working with paint. When you started sketching the flowers I was thinking it was very ….. well ….. child like for lack of a better description. But nothing could be further from the truth as you worked the piece. I've seen artists making really cute little wristband art sets with paint in an altoids can glued to a watch band. Art on the go. That panset would be perfect for it.
Years ago I invested in the whole set of Derwent Watercolor Pencils. They were a wonderful introduction into using Watercolor. Now I have been slow to check out the new Inktense pencils. Finding and watching your channel has me hooked I would love these pencils!
Wow Jennifer! I love your piece and honestly you made it so approachable that I’m going to try creating something similar. I think one of the biggest values in these boxes is this give enough product to inspire but not so much to overwhelm! Fabulous tutorial

Thank you for that too.🙏🏻 You can get a larger Inktense Paint Pan Travel Set with 12 colors, plus a water brush for $20.50 @ Blick. So that little palette is overvalued imo. I'm in the US and I've been subscribing to the UK's subscription offering, ScrawlrBox, for 5 or 6 years now. Even though they're in the UK and even with shipping costs their offerings are more appealing to me. With shipping included, my yearly subscription (there are monthly and other options) breaks out to $28.26 a month. You accrue points so with my rewards point's value I got an additional $18.23 off (I think it was actually $19 w/ the conversion rates last year when I renewed)of my year subscription. So my monthly break out dropped down to $26.74. My two cents.😁

That is the January premium box. SketchBox has a TH-cam channel that offers a monthly video specific to each box. Very fun. My sister sends them to me as gifts when they have things she knows I will like. I really enjoyed watching you create art with yours.
I only have about 10 Inktense pencils, but I do have 24 Inktense blocks and I believe that is really the way to go! The half pans you used in this video is just blocks cut down to fit in the pans and fine details are easy to do with fine tipped brushes! I also love that you can get Blocks open stock from various retailers.
I adore my inktense pencils & have the 72 set, but it is actually a 71 set as you get what they call an outliner, which is basically a HB pencil. I recently got the 72 blocks at a really low price here in Australia and got 72 inktense blocks and you get an extra colour in the blocks as you don't get the outliner you actually get another purple shade. I was very happy as it is so hard to get open stock here and for just under $100 Australian I got a bargain plus an extra colour.

In the UK, the pencils would be about £9 - £12, and the pans would be about £10, as they are usually sold in sets of 12, and they are usually £20 - £30 a set, depending on where you get them from, so this box should be worth about £30 over here, if you include the brush and the paper. I have noticed when I've looked at subscription boxes from the US that they are generally more expensive than what they should be, so you're probably better off getting them from an art shop instead, but the paints and the pencils themselves are good quality.

Love your artwork. It makes me want to try something similar. Sketchbox is my first art box subscription. I got a 6 month subscription starting with the Oct. 2022 box. I have loved playing around with different media, some I probably would not have tried otherwise. My favorite things about Sketchbox are the Sketchbox School videos that help you get started with your new supplies every month. As a Sketchbox subscriber you also get access to Cupixel. I was excited to give it a try, but quickly found that the drawing/tracing tool wasn't for me. However, you can get more inspiration for using your Sketchbox supplies with Cupixel videos, even if you don't use the drawing tool.

I have always been curious about these sketch boxes. This one would be worth it for someone who has been curious about the Inktense products but didn’t want to invest in them (though they should because they are fantastic!) I have all the colors (and two purples since I bought a 12 set and then got the 36 one because addiction lol)… but those pans are definitely tempting since they’d be easy to take along and use on the go. Wonderful review and beautiful painting! 🥰

I am such a Derwent intense fan girl. :D And I (more often than not) really enjoy my Sketchbook subscription. I have been with them for..........a year and a half I think. I do enjoy that ever month they have a video that explains how to use the products because some of them are pretty out there. For anyone who lives in the US, I do recommend them over any others. For those in Europe, I think Scrawlrbox or Upcrate would be better. Shipping cost is a killer.

The butterfly is the same colour palette as the inktense pencil set that they sent. The butterfly represents change from caterpillar to butterfly and a person can use that set to create the butterfly on the postcard. I assume you noticed after the stream. Thanks for the review. I’ve subscribed to @sketchbox for a few years. Not every box is my cup of tea but every month has quality products. @lanaglochart is one of my favorite TH-camrs. I look forward to them every month. Nice you did a video on them!
Check out the Derwent Catalogue. They are extending Inktense range to 100 (well, 99 colours + an outliner). I don't know if I should be happy or mad ;) and I wonder when it will appear on the market.
Yeah to inktense set expanding! Def wish we knew though when the new colors/sets come out cause in the catalogue it looks like the tin box art is changing as well.

That's 1 thing I'd be worried with subscription boxes just not things I enjoy using or if your subd for a while your probably going to get repeat things such as pens,brushes etc. I do wish that there was more info about the products and how you can use them and use together and maybe some techniques. I’ve had a sketchbook subscription for a couple of years and there have been very few repeat products, but there will be repeat themes, for example a watercolor box, a graphite box, an ink box in October, etc. They do have a TH-cam channel where they introduce the products and give you an idea of how to use them every month.
Danielle, there are Sketchbox School videos available for each month. There is one for both the basic and premium boxes. You can also buy some of the previous boxes so you know what you're getting, but they're more expensive that way. I recently tried their new "build your own box" where you pick your supplies. :)
hi there I am commenting to suggest a product for review it’s the paper studio brand of gel pens the 48 value pack they have neons glitters pastels and classic colors all in one pack and I am asking if you wouldn’t mind reviewing this they’re from Hobby lobby :-) they’re there exclusive brand I think also, I’m blind, but I still love to listen to your videos and bring out my gel, pens, crayons, colored pencils, or markers, and color or draw. I do it on blank paper, but even still, your videos are inspiring to me and I’ll love how you don’t care what the price of the gel pens is really you will still pick them up and use them and I think that may give you a lot of bang for your buck and a hard case also makes them travel friendly.
Went right to the web site and saw nothing about getting the first one free with just paying shipping. Seems like if you sign up long term you're taking a chance on getting a lot of supplies you're not interested in. I'll stick with Amazon or local so I know what I'm getting and the price works out to be about the same. Just don't see the advantage of this.
I subscribed to sketchbox over Covid for about a year. It was interesting. I learned about several art supplies I would never have looked into. But ultimately it proved to not be a good investment, so I stopped my subscription.
Please check the name of the channel and the channel description. She is a wonderful person and is a colorist, like most of her viewers. Colorists mostly color other people’s line art.
I see you have visited her channel before challenging her about her drawing skills. But you will find that she emphasizes she is a colorist. And those of us who can’t draw super well understand what she is teaching us: joy and delight.

But I invite emka to visit my website to see the (literally) hundreds of illustrations that I have created over the last few years. As I said in this video…the flowers I drew were kept very simple on purpose. The intent of the art piece was to play with the tools given to me and help those who watch the video feel like they can create something similar. I love how my little painting turned out…I hope it inspires other people to be creatively brave.

Hello! If I’m understanding from Jennifer’s previous videos on Inktense the Inktense pencils have an ink base and as a result when hit with water they are more vibrant and intense with color or have potential to be when hit with water? While regular water color products can be more subtle when hitting with water I think? And with inktense once it dries it is suppose to be permanent and not move about it again when hit with water once dry. That’s been my experience with them. But like Jen said I think in video that’s not always the case!

Hooks green is a mixing colour ownly as the green on its own is unatural can be mixed with raw umber,blues,yellows
