I don't know how this has so few likes. i t was an amazing masterpiece when it was released, and it remains so to this day, IMO. Hell of an homage to late 80's and 90's beat 'em ups, and games like Metal Slug, etc.

I think the closest we'll get is Mercenary Kings. If you haven't checked it out already, do. All animations in that game are done by Paul. The gory exploding heads are scaled down compared to this little gem, but they are present.
Why don't you run a kickstarter to make this an actual vidogame? I'm sure you'll get funded really quick, and you'll make good money for sure. All the animations are already there, so much work is done already! Perhaps you just place everything in Open Bor or something... I know I'll buy it.
This game is too easy on 2 player, your supers charge based on both players hit rate meaning you can spam supers so often it breaks the game. But the amount of unique supers the devs put in I can see why they’d want people to see them all

If you go up to the staff door at the beginning of the first level, you’ll find yourself in an alternate route that’s harder with brand new bosses
