Grand Marais Outfitters saved me last week when i was in the UP... I had 2 jackets, and several hoodies, but no rain gear. I was able to pick up a nice rain jacket when i went through town on my way to crisp point. Had i not gotten that parka, i wouldve been soaked and freezing over the next three days... Many thanks!!!
I love the two hearted river area! My family and friends visit there every year around the 4th of july weekend. Great videos, thank you for sharing your experiences!
Great Videos Guys! Born and raised in MI myself. Really have gotten into over-landing recently. I've always been a car guy and explored all over Michigan, but never the back roads! Can't wait to get my 4runner and really see what MI has to offer! P.S. Best time to explore MI is late sept. - October - little chilly but no bugs! haha also beautiful in winter if snow doesn't bother you!
That place is awesome. I'm on my way back from the UP now. I'm in my hotel watching this episode. We stayed in the lake superior campground in Deer Park.
Looks like you found the mudhole at the top of the Slime Climb as we dubbed it. We went up it in the past on UP Overland trips. TJ and the guys are great!
You cant go to Tahquamenon Falls and not check out BOTH falls. I've been there several times (advantage of living in MI) and once (like 30 years ago) the water was soooo low that you could actually walk out onto the lower falls area and explore and photograph stuff you'd never get any other time. I was fortunate to get lots of video (vhs) and photos (slides) of it when I had the chance.
Hey guys, I'm planning a very similair trip this summer/fall. Was wondering if you have any routes to share. I have some of your pitstops on my schedule so far. Keep up the great videos. - Chris
Great adventure !! Love those drone shots !! The light house was a must !! Nice repair on the move !! Mud hole ... was it ? LOL LOL ... I'm watching the next vid ... let's see what gives !! LOL. You guys rock. Love the music ... really gives more feeling to the thing. congrats. Cheers
7:05 #Lighthouse.. in Malaysia consider prohibited area for public to access. For those who authorized by Marine Department of Malaysia only can enter.
Diego Zabala good question. It really depends on how long of a trip and how remote. We carry a wide variety of nuts, bolts, hoses and fluids in case we have issues. Since filming this we keep a few bushings around as well. Knowing your truck and common sizes of bolts and nuts on it will help narrow down that list so you aren't hauling the kitchen sink. We do suggest that you carry a spare front cv shaft if your rig is IFS and set of ujoints if your trip will involve moderate off-road or harder. That can get you going again if you have a failure.
mike blakley Great question. We did want to run line and winch all the vehicles through; however that would have got us getting to camp even later, perhaps closer to 0300. Moreover, when you’re tired and hungry, mistakes can start happening; therefore we decided as a team to take the path of least resistance and fight another day! Thanks for watching! 🍺
Always bring a chainsaw in the UP I've had to cut out trails after storms to get out of camp grounds and to get through to the next town. Both there and here in WI. I broke an upper shock mount once crawling over trees. Now i cut them.
Bold Overland...what month were you in the UP? Just started watching the videos and they are great. My wife and are thinking of going up in mid-September, but if the bugs are like when you guys visited...that will not work for my wife. Thanks,
I'm planing on heading up to the upper peninsula next year. Did you guys map out those trails and would you happen to have gpx files? I have done a lot down in Arkansas that I could share with you....thanks guys and love the episodes.
I like the videos guys but doing trails in off-roading and going that far out with a trailer just drives me nuts I just think it has trouble written all over it keep up the vids
looks like 'overland travel' has turned to 'off-road park' style trails...why have American's lost touch, look to the Euro market, no big fancy shows and gear, just pure travel...I hate the American overland market...its all about the $
If yer camping in Michigan, and especially the UP, don't leave your kids in the open or those 'mutant mosquitos' will carry them away. Also beware of the horse flys. They'll take the unwary adult.
kvnkcrs, Mountain State are great guys. We actually set release dates in may for post production purposes... but we are more than happy to share a time and date with them. They are a solid crew.
Appreciate the reptile education, It's a lost education and vitally important in our travels over and through different lands. Good Job!
Learning about the snake was really cool, awesome shot of the light house. Good job guys
Julio Gonzalez We are humbled my friend, glad you’re enjoying Season 2.🍺

Ryan Gallagher No doubt, thanks for watching!

I assumed that guy was exaggerating the mud puddle... I guess not!
Any plans to do some of the loops in Kentucky?
Rob's Offroading and Travel We hit a large portion of the KAT last winter brother.🍺
thanks for CC. I know these subtitles aren't perfect but better than no CC. :)
Great episode guys!
Kurt Williams Thank you Sir! 👍
I don't know where ya'll are from, but the brochure should have mentioned the mosquito is Michigan's State bird

@boldoverland regarding the trail repair ... What would you recommend to have as spare parts for unforseen issues like the one you encountered?
Diego Zabala good question. It really depends on how long of a trip and how remote. We carry a wide variety of nuts, bolts, hoses and fluids in case we have issues. Great vids. keep 'em coming.was their any way to winch out of the mud hole going forward? Or did you hit your time limit for the trail?
mike blakley Great question. We did want to run line and winch all the vehicles through; however that would have got us getting to camp even later, perhaps closer to 0300. JOHAN CARD Thanks for the kind words my friend, thanks for watching!
That was a wicked mud hole.
mykalbee indeed Sir🍺
See you found the mud, welcome to Michigan
Scott Seifert Indeed we did my friend 👍
Hi. Love the Video. Quick question, brand/model of the bike rack on Billy Ross Rig, Tx
Art Wahen It’s a Kuat Racks NV2. 👍
I'm planing on heading up to the upper peninsula next year. Did you guys map out those trails and would you happen to have gpx files? I have done a lot down in Arkansas that I could share with you....thanks guys and love the episodes.
SammyT 96LX450 Right On, send us an email at boldoverland@gmail.com
Did you guys map any of this? And possibly interested in sharing?
austin trim yes and we can share coordinates.👍
I'm headed up this weekend and haven't found much for map's or routes people have taken.
Coral snakes have round pupils, so don't limit ID to only eye shape for venomous.
Lone Wolf Acres Roger that Snake Man! 👍
Mosquitoes are our State Bird. I've also had my 32ft motorhome to most of these locations. Lol.
Guess folks are right about those KO2’s not cuttin the mustard in mud
Can you guys post your music credits please? I like the music you all select
He was actually fishing the fox river and didn’t want to give up his fishing spot
Awesome
Ryan Lund Thank You! 👍
So AT tires at probably 20psi (?) into 2+ft of mud with no momentum... Not a surprising outcome.
The bugs in the UP are absolutely mental, you need heavy duty bug spray and clothing to cover up. Don't even get me started on the biting flys
Ben Lastname Indeed Sir, we got hammered pretty good by the biting flies. However, it was well worth it Brother!
BOLD OVERLAND Oh definitely it's amazing up there, happy traveling!
What time of year do the bugs calm down?
I like the videos guys but doing trails in off-roading and going that far out with a trailer just drives me nuts I just think it has trouble written all over it keep up the vids

I'm in that

In the last episode it was said thatLake Superior was evil....not true but the mosquitoes are!!!!
That's hilarious that you released your video the same time Mountain State Overland did. Just to ride on their coattails!
kvnkcrs, Mountain State are great guys. We actually set release dates in may for post production purposes... but we are more than happy to share a time and date with them. They are a solid crew.
@kvnkcrs What an asinine statement. You wear some mighty big pants on the internet. Regardless, you are here watching aren't ya. ;)
Lol you sad the vehicles were old maybe middle age
Dave eightyeighty Thanks for watching!
michigan secret , avon skin so soft. mosquitoes hate it.
Tom Fleshman Now you tell us... lol.. thanks for the comments and watching 🍺
Really? I'll have to try that this summer. I've used "bens" 100% deet, and that works pretty well, but it cant be good for your skin...
