Mapandan was formerly a barrio of Mangaldan. It was before located in the hilly regions of the south where there used to be plenty of “pandan” a native palm whose leaves will add aroma to cooked rice. The leaves also are stripped and woven into mats. That’s why they call it Mapandan - CCto Google
The Pandan Festival showcased the town’s agricultural wealth, a celebration of its people’s industry and diligence as well as a commemoration of the town history.
